Disappointed…read more Project consisted of removing three old decks and replacing with new Trex decks. First, upon job completion there was no fascia on the deck beams. Just bare wood and nail heads -- LOTS of them. Second, beams protruded beyond the edge of the deck (see pic). This is either due to the post being in the wrong place, or due to the deck not being square with the house. This was reported as not a structural issue (true), but rather a "minor cosmetic issue." Third, the deck board next to the house is not level with the rest of the deck (see pic). Consequently, the railing fabricator cannot use a standard post, but will have to manufacture a post with an angled base plate. Fourth, a small mid-level deck has developed a 1/2" sag in the middle (see pic). In looking beneath this deck, it seems the joist hangers were not installed correctly, and some of the joists were cut a little short. Fifth, at least one of the decks is not square with the house. The deck has a "vee" shape to it, and the decking does not meet evenly in the center of the "vee". To over come this, one of the final deck boards (next to the house) is cut in a long wedge shape. Finally, it seems the overall quality of workmanship is a little slipshod (see pics). When this was pointed out, it was reported as "within industry guidelines". Somehow, I can't believe that I'd see this on a new Lennar or Shaw home. I've tried contacting the company numerous times over the past 6+ months using text messaging, voice-mails, the company's own "Contact Us" on their website, even registered mail. Nothing. So, I can either live with "industry guidelines" or pay $1,000+ to fix these "cosmetic issues". Based on this experience, I'd wonder if the nice photos on their website are actually completed projects by Iron Bison, or if they are rather stock photos imported from some library accessed by their website developer. As I said at the outset... disappointed.

Curtis came over right away to review the damage, talk options, and prepare a quote for us. They were fairly priced and even worked with our insurance when anything needed further clarification. JG even found a few electrical issues that were very dangerous and alerted us to those so we could fix them. To…read moredo that, the company who performed the installation had to demo all the drywall and framing along the exterior wall, remove tile flooring in a bathroom and a closet, and pull up most of the carpet. In short, they had to nearly un-finish my entire basement. CRBS was one of only a handful of contractors who would even return my request for an estimate, and their bid was the lowest by a few thousand dollars. They repaired the framing, replaced retextured & repainted the drywall, reinstalled what tile they could salvage from the bathroom, then custom-cut/painted new tile to match, completely retiled the closet, stripped & epoxied the laundry room floor, installed new baseboard, restretched the carpet and even did some new electrical work, all while coming in under their estimate. There were only a couple of minor issues with the job, both of which were immediately remedied. They even worked on a weekend to fix one, which I still feel kinda bad about. They were also very flexible in scheduling. An issue with the company installing the gutter resulted in that job getting delayed by a couple of weeks. CRBS was able to accommodate that last-minute change and get me rescheduled within a week. They also put me in touch with a restoration company that helped me unload, store, then replace the contents of my basement. I'd happily use their services again.
