Cliff and I have known each other for several years and I resisted going to him for massages for that reason. However, after finally reaching a point of needing some assistance physically in different areas, I decided maybe Cliff could help. Unfortunately, I live with several orthopedic issues, some of which are temporary and some of which are permanent. I was employed in a position in which I worked anywhere from 10 to 14 hours a day on a regular basis. I've had a lot of physical and emotional pain and stress as well as much unrest in the last few years in my life. I discussed my situation with Cliff and my hesitations. He was so professional and compassionate about what my needs were. He offered suggestions before we attempted any kind of massage therapy and explained what each different procedure would accomplish. During my visits Cliff has used a tuning fork, heated rocks, and different levels of massage therapy. As a result of the above efforts, I have seen differences in how tight I am in my neck and shoulders and in my lower back. However, especially significant to me is his effort to assist me in loosening a muscle in my upper right leg...one which I believe makes my leg shorter than it should be because of its tightness. Prior to my visit with Cliff, I couldn't lift my leg up while lying on my side. Now I can lift it and hope to eventually be even stronger than I am today. Cliff takes every precaution possible to ensure his clients are comfortable and at ease. Privacy is of utmost importance to him. He consistently inquires with his clients as to the level of massage therapy and whether it is too much or too little. He also follows up to ensure they are not experiencing any unusual pain. Clients whose insurance covers massage therapists are welcome as are those who do not have insurance. He is flexible on appointments making them convenient for his clients. This is the best massage I have ever received in over twenty years of receiving massages! Mr. Ambro used a variety of modalities (Deep Tissue, Sweedish, hot stones, tuning fork) in our massage therapy session, mainly for pain relief for my tailbone and neck. My husband paid for a ninety minute massage, but my massage ended up being about two hours long! Mr. Ambro asks questions as to what oil you would prefer to be used and asks if you want upper chest, stomach, and glutes massaged. He is very professional and empathetic. Conveniently located in the Arctic Physical Therapy office (old GEICO claims office), just north of the post office on Lake Otis and Dowling with plenty of parking. Cliff Ambro is a truly talented and professional massage therapist in Anchorage, Alaska. He is incredibly knowledgeable and has unreal hands. He was able to work out many of the knots that I have had for years. I certainly love the hot stones and the tuning fork. I would without hesitation recommend his services to any of my male or female friends for themselves or for their friends and family. He also does chair massage at the workplace for clients and he accepts insurance or you can self-pay. He takes his time with clients and he never makes you feel like he is rushing. Oh, My, Freaking, Goodness people. Seriously, Cliff is the best. Go see him, right now! Even if you don't think you really need a massage; let me tell you, you really do. He was amazing. He asked me what my expectations were right off the bat. We talked until I was comfortable. He was very soothing and respectful the entire time. He is very receptive to feedback during the massage too. If I was sore in a spot I would just tell him and he would either use more, or less pressure, depending on my preferences. Cliff has done wonders for me. I started to see him because of my planters fasciitis in both feet. My pain level was a 10. I had even gotten crutches and a walker to get around. I had pain down my left arm for weeks. Cliff listened to my issues and then explained to me his plan to help me with them. He found trigger points and sore spots I didn't even know I had. Cliff is the go to guy when it comes to deep tissue massage and active release therapy and any other massage techniques. I've been to a couple of other people and no one is more effective at fixing the problem, releiving tension or whatever may be needed. Another great massage. All I can say is if you have never had a massage therapist use tuning forks, you don't know what you are missing. If you have had them used on you, not the way Cliff uses them.
