As a parent of young kids, traveling is definitely more challenging than it used to be. We love Jay's music class because we get to experience music from around the world...right in West Philly! This class has been a great opportunity to meet other parents and children, learn about different cultures, and have fun. Each class has a set structure but a unique group of songs, so there's always something new while making little ones feel comfortable. We "travel" to different regions of the world each season (The Caribbean, Eastern Europe, East and Southeast Asia to name a few). Jay is a great teacher and we highly recommend his class! read more

We love this music class! It is the one activity on our schedule every week that we cannot miss. It has brought so much music into our home and even my husband sings the songs with our 2 year old even though he has never attended a class! The music is beautiful and unique, the delivery is entertaining and we have made some lovely friendships with other families who also value music and play. We took our son here for classes at the West Philly location & loved the atmosphere, music and teaching style! This is a great music class for the younger set. Participation is easy, and the kids really enjoy playing with the instruments and dancing around the room. The variety of global music is also a nice change of pace. We recently decided we needed to get our 2 year old daughter into some type of class. She is so social and loves playing with other babies. She's not in nursery school and spends much of her day with our Au Pair. She has a couple of playdates scheduled every week, and our Au Pair works on getting her out as well. But with the cold weather and lack of indoor opportunities, we felt this was the time to do something different. A lot of people recommend All Around This World. Jay who runs the class is super reasonable. He has a pay what you can policy for those who cannot afford the listed rates. With my wife in school and us having a lower income, we really did need to work something out, so it was great. Jay is super nice. After 3 classes with our Au Pair, my wife and I finally got over to a class. Since the weather was poor, we skipped the normal class day and Jay was super cool about us coming to a Saturday class. Although our daughter was initially shy, she really got into it after some time. Jay is very comforting. When he saw my daughter upset in the beginning, he offered her some balls to shake and make noise. I love that he chooses themes from all over the word. This time is focused on Africa, and each class focuses on a different region. The class was loads of fun and our daughter, and other kids, were singing and dancing up a storm. My daughter was really upset when we had to leave. She wanted to stay and have more fun! I really recommend this class for anyone with young kids. It's lots of fun and Jay is great! read more

so as an update, It has been 3 years since my daughter has been to Jay's music class and I'm happy to report that she still talks about the concepts learned in this class. when I mention a country, she will say "what kind of music do they listen to?" because she now understands that different regions of the world have different musical influences and tastes. Jay's classes are really fun for kids and parents alike! Our daughter loves to sing the songs at home all the time and the cd that you get is a big favorite in our house. He makes magnets with all the words and I love to cook with our daughter glancing over periodically to the fridge to remember a word. He's also the nicest guy ever, and his laid back take on children (he has 3 of his own) makes the classes a joy to participate in. read more

Jay could not do a better job from his organization of classes, weekly informative emails, CD & magnetic word sheets handouts at the first class, to well thought out in-class exposure to instruments, rhythms, and countries. Jay creates a friendly, nurturing atmosphere in his All Around This World classes, and energetically encourages self-expression. Jay is flexible, and considerate. This class is a wonderful experience and I am so happy my family and I are involved. I've been taking my son to Jay's music class for over a year. We started in the babies class when he was 9 months old and now that he's almost 2 we go to the toddler classes. Right from our first session, I loved the diverse songs that Jay has collected and arranged, and have enjoyed adding them to the repertoire of songs that I sing to my son. The classes are fun and interesting for children and adults, and Jay is so good at interacting with respect and patience with children. The cd's from the class are very important to our family- on long car rides they are pretty much the only thing my son will listen to! read more

I took my daughter to Jay's music class when she was between 6 and 10 months old, and it was fantastic. Jay does a terrific job of engaging both babies and adults, and my daughter loved the class. She learned how to clap her hands and stomp her feet, and her face absolutely lit up when Jay would sing or play his guitar. Jay strikes just the right balance between keeping classes varied and circling back often enough that you become familiar with different songs and routines. Hands down, his classes are one of the most high-quality experiences for young children that I have been to. read more

WOW! This is the best thing I have ever done for my son. He loves this class. Not only have we explored new music we sing in many different languages. My son loves to listen to the CD Jay makes over and over. He looks forward to going every week. Jay does a great job at keeping the kids and adults engaged. I even bring my newborn with us.
