I paid for them to replace a flat roof and repair damages caused by the water infiltration including patching where water may enter in the future and patching/replacing sheetrock and painting that was done. I also paid for them to notch, punch, and hang doors. Jenny (owner's wife) submitted a quote after Tim (owner), outlined the work and the materials in August, I paid a deposit and work began in September. The issues immediately started. Tim walks the site for the quote but is rarely if ever found on site to review materials or quality of work. They quoted me for materials that I paid for, and used INFERIOR materials. After I confronted Tim, he lied about the materials, I had to remind him that my boyfriend in fact was an architect and knew that the material in the pictures (I asked for status pictures at EOD) where not what was quoted. He never rectified this issue. My boyfriend and I had to walk the roof and have the workers fix quite a few issues that were scoped out and discussed as a part of the work including a CLEARLY distressed chimney that would have allowed for water penetration upon ANY rain. The roofers had to come back 3 times for the issues to be resolved. Tim? Once. The work inside of the house? Still not done. There are gashes in doors, My ceiling? covered in gray primer for THREE months and counting. Door frames? Split, cracked, and not fixed. I have called. I have attempted to reschedule. I have sent emails. Texted pictures and STILL have not heard back from them. Tim's preferred way of working is to have you the customer GC and quality check the work - because he is not able to or willing to do so. In fact, he attempted to blame me for not correcting the work in real time, as if I am the foreman. You're better off getting a bunch of "handy men" and throwing them in a room to do the work because that is effectively what Tim does. They will promise you the moon, and at the end of it you will have wished you never even asked them for the quote.

He is the only painter I have ever used since I found him because he pays so much attention to the quality of the whole job, especially proper prep. Before Jeff, I had dealt with a lot of painters who didn't show, cut corners in prep, left a mess, or didn't accurately estimate a job. We engaged TYL for restoration services and encountered serious concerns regarding their performance, communication, and handling of our property. At the outset of the project, our home was left unsecured during the removal of our belongings, creating an immediate risk to both the property and its contents. Upon return, many items were either left unprocessed in their original packed condition, returned wet, improperly handled, commingled with items belonging to another household, or replaced with items that were not ours. Additionally, a substantial portion of our personal property appears to be missing. Communication throughout the project was inconsistent and, at times, entirely absent for extended periods--particularly following significant issues. When contact was made, it was exclusively through staff members rather than company ownership. Notably, several of the employees we initially worked with are no longer employed by the company. Despite these deficiencies, the company has attempted to pursue payment and legal action for services that were not completed in a satisfactory or professional manner. Based on our experience, we strongly advise others to exercise due diligence and caution before engaging this company.

We were assigned TYL for a house fire that occurred about a year ago and it has been the most stressful and difficult process, and TYL made it no easier. For now, I've attached screenshots from my record keeping of things that were wrong in the home in May - mind you we moved back in March When they first come, they make it seem like it's about to be this fantastic process and that everything is going to go so smooth. But if it wasn't for the fact that I kept meticulous documentation and held them accountable, our house would've been half finished. The fire in the house started in August and they didn't even get started building things until maybe Oct - They said it was because they needed to get things approved and together. But even then, throughout the winter months, there would be weeks where nothing would be taking place and the house door would be open then because they originally told us March is when we would move back in once March starts approaching, you see them working at all hours of the day. Like if you were really spacing out your work correctly why are you in my house at 2 AM on a Wednesday in February? Then once we finally move in, we see things like the doors frames uneven, they took off a wall and didn't replace it, the porch isn't finished, windows are missing screens, the wood on the door is ripping apart (they refuse to take responsibility for it to this day) And worst of all when we moved back into the house after giving them our furniture, clothing, items that we care about for the last six months - Everything is still covered in soot and water. None of the items were cleaned and we ended up having to clean what we can and wash all of our laundry by ourselves. We threw away a good chunk of our items because they were water damaged, moldy, etc. from sitting in boxes for months untouched. and even to add insult to injury in the beginning, Even to this day as we approach the one year, there's still things that are not done in the home, and I repeated myself so many times to the project managers (We've had two and both of them refused to come onto the site and take a look at things after the contractors worked on it, won't believe us when we tell them that something's not working right, and even when there were serious things going wrong in the house, they refused to come until we paid the deductible (Which we sent immediately, and even then they still took two weeks to respond. I then told them that that's not good project management. The same way that you would tell your job when you go on vacation you need to tell your clients as well )) something as simple as the soap pump that they installed not working, they refused to fix it. They kept telling us that we're doing something wrong and every single time we show them that it's still not working. Honestly, the list goes on. I should've known that this would be a chaotic experience when they refuse to bring dehumidifiers into a home that was flooded with water after a fire. From having to chase behind them to make sure the house was adequately, put together, to coming back after six months to realize that all of our items in the house we're still covered in smoke and soot and just sat in a warehouse for months without even being looked at, to still having things in the home, not working correctly to this day - TYL Has done irreparable harm to my mental health, my piece of mind as well as my family's, and I can only hope that the work they did on our home doesn't fall apart or devalue the property.

The first three quotes were from "high end" remodelers. A friend recommended Allen Geoffrey's Handyman Services to us (she had just had her bathroom remodeled). Geoff and his crew (Mark and Brian) came out to survey the jobs. They spent more time with me going over what work we wanted and what our major concerns were. They suggested a comprehensive "plan of attack" from top to bottom. We were consulted at every step of each of the projects to ensure that our expectations and design elements were incorporated. Their price quote came in thousands (yes, thousands) of dollars less than the three previous quotes. While they don't provide the design assistance of the "high end" contractors, they met us at a big box contractor store and helped us color-coordinate our design interests. They took care of ordering all the various pieces parts needed and got us a significant discount on materials. First, they replaced the deck to install flashing (that the previous home owner neglected to do), that led to the water damage in the guest bedroom. The deck was brought up to code and revealed serious problems with the previous deck installation. After the deck was done, the crew split off into two teams, one working on the master bathroom, the other, working on the guest bedroom. The crew took care of hauling off all old materials and cleaned up after each day. The work was first-rate. As with any major home project, unexpected/unforeseen problems arise. While removing the water-damaged sheetrock in the guest bedroom, major water damage was discovered to the exterior wall. Geoff gave me a very reasonable labor estimate to repair the wall. That wall is now the strongest in the house. They show up when expected, every day, until the job is done. They go beyond what is expected to ensure that the client is happy with the direction the project is headed. I highly recommend these master plumbers. I guess my highest endorsement is that, when our kitchen cabinets come in, Geoff and his crew will be doing our complete kitchen remodel (again, coming in thousands of dollars less than the high-end contractors). If you need any work done to your home, give them a call. They will not disappoint you. And, Geoff, Mark, & Brian, our new master bathroom looks and functions beyond our expectations. Thank you!

Marlon and his team were tasked with a HUGE job, spanning through the entirety of the whole house, and including numerous drywall patches, electrical fixes and installations, and some plumbing. Marlon not only did a phenomenal job with EVERYTHING we asked for, but he did it for a very reasonable price. Marlon and his team were on-time every day they came out, were very productive during the time they were here, and communicated with us every step of the process for the 4 days they were here. Additionally, they cleaned up after themselves very well at the end of each day! I feel that Marlon is an honest, hard-working, knowledgeable contractor with a depth of expertise in numerous different areas. I will definitely be directing any home projects to him if they are outside of my own scope of comfort, and I would confidently recommend him to any of my friends, family, and strangers who are in need of a good, solid handyman/repair man/electrician/other.
