We have a huge backyard with enormous mature trees. One of the trees that Ian and his crew removed was a half-dead black poplar (probably the biggest tree in our neighbourhood). His confidence and expertise removing that monster with no bucket (climbing only, as there was no access) was amazing to watch - he definitely knows what he's doing. Another local company that came to quote didn't feel confident to be able to tackle it and recommended Ian's company - we couldn't have been more pleased with that referral. We also had a very large willow removed that had roots lifting and leaning toward the house. Both of these large trees had stumps ground down deep, they cut up and removed all the wood - it really was a big job that they made look easy. The Canopy Tree Care crew worked so hard - it was a major job done in one day!! Most of the big companies in Edmonton were way too high-priced or too busy to even look at our job - he was able to do the work about a week after quoting. In the past, we had a major company only prune a couple of our big trees and that alone cost $1000, which makes this company's prices look amazing (this job cost about 3000, which was amazing). He also took the opportunity to teach his crew, which goes to show the vision/character of this business owner. Honest too - there was a $100 error on the invoice which they notified us about (we didn't even realize) and reimbursed us for. Cleaned up after the job, great work, and had a very competitive price. Hired them this year to cut down a tree and trim another and I was quite disappointed. Left a considerable mess at both sites. They did not specify the exact day they would be arriving, so I still had birdfeeders in the tree to be trimmed. It would have taken less than 5 seconds to remove the feeders and there is just no way they couldn't have been noticed. Instead, both were destroyed. Who does that? The trimming work was minimal and definitely not worth the fee. The tree removal left a huge dirt pile scattered across the yard after the stump grinding. Their overall price was still more competitive than the other firms that quoted, but that low price came with a lesser product.
