However, as a railway station, it is pretty close to facilities, but then having a shopping centre built on top does help in that regards. Sure, Hurstville is probably not one of my favourite places in Sydney, but at least the trains are frequent.

Coles and Mc D, just right at the entrance. This station is located underneath hurstville shopping centre and look so alive! When you out from the platform, to forest road, lots of restaurant offering so many different cuisine,Chinese, Korean, Malaysian etc. Next time I will explore more to this area

A small busy wharf during peak times of a morning and an evening…read more This modern wharf is located in a lovely trendy area of Abbortsford. Right at the wharf is the Abbortsford Rowing Club a lovely restaurant where it is a place to go for that special lunch or dinner. The Parramatta River service visits the wharf each hour either heading towards the city or to Rydalmere ( depending on the tide...even to Parramatta). The wharf is well covered for wet weather and wheelchair friendly.

In a way that is a good thing, namely because it is a rather nice station, with the old building still being there and all that, but it is also quite accessible as well. Still, the station probably does need a bit of a clean. Mind you, there isn't anything all that much around here though, so it is probably only for the locals.

The chef (MasterChef the Professionals Chef Sarah Knights) and her partner are in the kitchens cooking up delishous delights that aren't expensive and are very titilating on your taste buds! Everything on the food menu was under $15. Even the steaks. The popcorn chicken came out in a popcorn container, it was all very quirky! There were onion rings that were delivered on a spike with 3 dips. The cajun chicken schniddy was crunchy on the outside and not quite as hot as I was expecting. However they have actual darn tooting American smokey BBQ sauce that reminded me of Texas. Friends got mac & cheese and it was.. we couldn't stop eating it. Such a great great mac & cheese!! Oh and it's all handmade icecream for deserts. I had the rocky road - the chefs creation. Full of surprises!! Friends had the secret family recipe sticky date pudding. Apparently that was to die for as well. So basically, everything you eat here is going to make your palate sing happily. Well worth the trip out of town for it. ****Edited to add that my friend went there the other night for the amazeballs Mac & Cheese only to find that this is no longer the food fare there. Not a lot of overhead covering if you are down on the platform, and you walk upstairs to get to the streets on either side. There are restrooms as well as a waiting area upstairs. Oh and of course Opal readers if like me, you forget to tap off when leaving the train. Across the street on both sides are convenience stores, coffee shops, or places to each, which is good for travelers.

Super small stop for the Neutral Bay Ferry (F5), first as you leave Circular Quay. There are a…read morecouple of seats and a small coffee shop, that's open breakfast & lunch only. There are machines to top off your Opal card (or even purchase one if need be). The steps down to the ferry (or up to the street) are a bit difficult if you're not super mobile (or are dragging a roller bag after a 20 hour flight). Ferries are typically every 30 minutes at this spot. Still you can commute on a ferry which is awesome.

A lot of trains tend to pass by pretty quickly, namely because they happen to be an express, though a number do stop so you aren't waiting all that long. It was okay, but nothing all that great.

I would say that this is a nice, old-style station, but the thing is that quite a few of these…read morestations in Sydney still retain their aesthetic charm from days gone by. Well, sort of, because a lot of them still seem to be the same, but then again it does happen to be a railway station, and I probably shouldn't be all that surprised. Once again though, like most Sydney stations, this one is quite accessible, and also trains are reasonably regular, most of the time.

Stanmore. Can you really have more Stan? Rename this puppy Stanless, cos it's sparse…read more How sparse? On a need to know basis it's a simple two platforms that drops you in the middle of nowhere in Stanmore, and you need to leg it to get to the closest highway. Speaking of legging it, there ain't no barricades and you know what they say... opal cards are only used by honest commuters ;)
