My family and i have been patients of Dr. Allen and his brother, Dr. Phil since the 1990's when they had an office in Sacramento. When they closed their office in Sacramento, we briefly tried other dentists, but then returned to them in their Roseville office. The quality of their care has always been excellent, and the whole staff was always welcoming and very friendly. When Dr. Phil retired and they closed their office in Roseville office, I contacted the Lincoln office to make an appointment for routine care. I was initially put off, because they did not know me, and treated me like I was a stranger. However, all of my recent contact with them have been very positive. Again, they are welcoming, friendly, and helpful. Dr. Allen still provides excellent, excellent care, and all of his assistants are absolutely A1. read more

It's a shame their receptionist is rude and unhelpful. I called to make an appointment and was told they aren't accepting new patients, despite them being listed as accepting through my insurance. She had no other offices to refer me to. Dodged a bullet with this one. read more

I feel sad to post this review. I have loved being a patient here for the past couple years. Dr. Latham and the staff have been wonderful. Unfortunately, the positive experience ended. I went to Dr. Latham because I was experiencing significant pain on both sides of my mouth. They diagnosed an infection on one side requiring a root canal and that the other side was a non-issue. After a week on antibiotics and the root canal for the diagnosed side, the pain on other side of my mouth progressed so much that I could barely eat. I called in and left a voicemail message on a Thursday around 2PM. Not only did they decide to not return my call before the end of the business day, but the office is closed on Fridays and weekends. They do, however, offer an emergency phone number for existing patients. I avoid emergencies as much as possible and it took an extreme amount of pain to get to the point of saying I needed help on an emergency basis. I woke up Saturday morning in so much pain that I was crying, I couldn't swallow, I couldn't spit, I couldn't do anything but cry. At 6AM we decided to call the emergency line. We waited for two hours - while being in severe pain - for a call back. I finally couldn't wait anymore so we found a dentist who would answer our call. It ended up that there was an issue - there was a fracture and an infection that was so significant that it was impossible to have been new. The emergency service also cost over 100% markup - an extra $2500 out of pocket compared to the same services I just had on the other tooth. The office did finally return our call around 11AM -- after I was already in surgery. Returning an emergency call 5 hours later is inexcusable. Not only did this result in unnecessary physical pain, but it also cost me significant out of pocket expense that was avoidable. In the end we can no longer trust this office to properly care for our dental health. :-( read more

We received Very poor service and the receptionist was very rude. Dr Allen doesn't care how his staff treats you.

After a few years of being a patient with Dr. Latham, I am switching dentists because of their rude receptionist Amber. Every encounter with her is bitter and she has 0 customer skills and proper manners on how to speak to patients. I don't know what happened to their old nice receptionist who was beyond exceptional. I had an appointment scheduled today and needed to cancel because of pregnancy and health related issues. Amber show 0 empathy and sympathy towards my situation and rudely told me of a $50 charge. I understand there are policies in place but showing a little compassion wouldn't hurt. Thanks to Amber's rude encounters, I have found a new dental office I'll be going to. read more

I've seen Dr. Allen Latham (and his brother Dr. Phillip Latham) many times since I first became a patient of theirs in the 1990's (in Sacramento and Roseville lactations) - After Dr. Phil retired about 18 months ago, I have seen Dr. Allen (in Lincoln) exclusively, He is very nice and professional, but his office staff are another story (specifically Amber) - I'm not sure why they hired the rudest and most incompetent staff of any health related professionals I've ever had to deal with. Most recently I was overcharged by $200+, and when I questioned them (my copay is usually 10-20%), I was made to feel like I was dumb and being nit-picky for asking why the co-pay seemed so high (I later discovered they charged be 50% when it should have been 10-20%). Then, when it was confirmed that I was overcharged, they tried to say it was my fault and that I never updated my insurance with them (which is untrue...I've had the same insurance plan since 2016, and updated all my information on my first visit to the Lincoln location). As much as I loved going to the Latham's for the past 30 years, I've lost all faith in the abilities of the office staff to be knowledgeable, professional, honest, or trustworthy. Unless you like being lied to, overcharged, talked down to, and generally treated like a piece of garbage, I suggest you find another dentist (I did and I am happier for it!). read more

Dentist was very good but billing and front desk department were very trying. After each visit we had to call our insurance because they were over charging us, which they were and had to give us a refund. Dental offices are supposed to check with insurance to make the procedures were cover on two occasions they did not tell us that the procedures were not cover and we had to pay the full amount. The second time this happened we contacted our insurance explained the situation and because the procedure would be cover this year they pay the bill. Make sure that you check your insurance and not get over charged. We had a hard time communicating with them 90 percent of the time they don't answer the phone and do not call you back. I'm 70 years old and I do not need to be motoring my dental insurance. They also fabricate lies to cover their mistakes and actions. read more

I cracked a tooth Sunday night and called the dentist Monday morning... to my surprise they got me in same day to evaluate. Turns out I need a crown and when he said we should have a replacement for you later this week or early next week I replied I have to travel next week.... so he said let me check the schedule and see what we can do. Turns out he made room for me tomorrow morning 8am! That's service I don't find very often. If you don't love your dentist you should consider switching. We used to go to a group dentist office and they kept changing the dentists and would make us feel like a number always trying to sell us things we didn't really want. Since we've switch to Latham it's been great service and no trying to sell me everything they offer every time I visit. read more

I just moved to the area and needed to see a Dentist. I have military insurance and found Dr. Latham through the Tricare provider website. I called and spoke with "Mary" in the front office. I explained to her that I needed a cleaning and some dental work done, but that I was a special case. I needed sedation due to my cleft. She was very nice and told me that even though Dr. Latham doesn't perform sedation, she could refer me to another office that could! She was incredibly professional and very helpful. I made an appointment with the sedation dentist and cannot tell you how much time and energy she saved me. If I didn't need sedation, I would 100% be coming here and I recommend the awesome staff if you're looking for a great office! read more

I am NOT one to take the time to write reviews about a business. BUT .... with this business Latham Dental it is a must for me to write about my experiences with this office and staff! I am going to be completely honest! I have the worst teeth. Growing up just like most kids I didn't listen to my mother and brush 3 times a day and get good dental care. Then as I got older, I struggled with not having dental insurance. So as to be expected when any dental needs came up, I put it off until I couldn't anymore. I went to many state clinics and low cost clinics. These clinics I went to were AWFUL!! The staff were not nice. There is a saying "you get what you pay for" this is so true when it came to all the dentists I had visited. I even had a dentist give me a root canal and stitch me up with gauze still in the socket! I laugh about it now but let me tell you ... I wasn't laughing after getting a bad infection from it. Thankfully now that I am married my wonderful husband has me on his insurance. so it was time to go see a dentist. I was scared to death to even go back to a dentist from my past experiences. I recently was diagnosed with Lupus and my body seems to fight me on everything and anything. It especially likes to destroy my teeth. So I was very nervous about what would happen when I finally was able to go to a GOOD dentist and get the diagnoses if I was going to be able to keep my teeth or loose them. I have needed to see Dr. Allen multiply times to get my teeth up to date and to get multiply things done and fixed. From Day 1 that I stepped into Latham Dental in Lincoln Ca there was a sense of comfort that I felt just walking in. The staff do not rush you, they are so comforting, while taking as much time i needed to explain everything. One of my favorite ladies there is the Office Manager, Kelley. My second favorite is Trish. These two woman are amazing. They are always is a good mood and so very kind! I truly believe they love what they do. Which is very hard to come by these days. In order to make a business thrive you have to love what you do. Many people have a job to provide for there family so most don't love what they do they just work to get paid. They ALWAYS do there very BEST in getting me in promptly and my doctor Dr. Allen Latham is FANTASTIC! I can not say enough about Dr. Allen Latham. He is kind, gentle, patient, understanding and does ANYTHING he possibly can to help me with getting me out of pain and hopefully saving my teeth. When Dr. Allen has to fix a cracked tooth or crown for me he doesn't just fix it and move on to another client he takes his time to fix it correctly and I walk out smiling (Which I NEVER do because I used to hate the way my teeth looked) If this office had to relocate I would drive 2 hours if needed to go see him. I appreciate everything this office provides and highly recommend going to them if you need dental care! read more

Myself and my son had our first appointment. Me being a certified chicken and my son has medical issues has not been to a dentist in almost 2 years. I was embarrassed and panicked. This by far was the best dental experience we have ever had. Dr. Latham and his wonderful staff took care of my sons issues, and I am scheduled for mine. My wife and I saw Dr. Alan Latham while we were living in Loomis. We found him and his staff to be respectful, positive, courteous, and caring. In my wife's words," I don't like going to the dentist, but Dr. Latham and his staff made it a happy experience - I know it sounds silly - but his happiness is contagious." Presently living in Davis, I need to get a checkup - and I am driving back up to Lincoln to get it. My family has been seeing Dr. Latham for about 5 years after an insurance change forced is to leave our previous DDS. As a former registered dental assistant and current employee of a major dental insurance provider, I can tell you that Dr. Latham is top notch when it comes to dental providers. His office is clean, comfortable and mellow. The atmosphere is relaxed. You will not find a lobby full of video games and kids toys here. Nothing fancy. Just a good old fashioned family DDS without all the glitz and glamour of some modern practices. His equipment is modern aside from digital X-rays. He doesn't offer those. His hygienists are gentle yet effective and Dr. Latham is good at explaining treatment. His office staff are good at explaining insurance coverage. But the best part they didn't sit me down and try to get into my wallet I just payed my co-pay that was it. Dr. Latham is an all star! My family and I have been going to him for years and by far he's the best dentist we've tried. Probably what I like most is how no-nonsense he is (doesn't try an up-sell you on teeth whitening, invisalign, extra-even though he has those services available if you need or want them). He's given us advice on dental insurance vs discount plans vs cash pay and helped us keep our costs down. I've found his rates to be much better those other dentists we've been to see. He's just a good HONEST dentist with wonderful staff and a nice clean new office. His Hygienists are the best too (shout out to Chelsea!)...anyhow, if you're in need of a dentist I wouldn't hesitate to give them a try. I've sent a number of my family and friends to him and they are all very happy as well. read more
