First the good: The entire place is kept beautifully clean and the staff can be helpful and friendly. Second the less good: To be honest the food (breakfast/coffee and dinner) is little above average, bordering at times on mediocre. Sure I would again but it would be for the atmosphere and the facility. Not exciting at all in terms of cuisine. The golf and gym would have to be rrreeaaallyyy good to lure me in! Not tried the golf course but told it is good by those that enjoy the sport! Actually on the river bank there are two pubs. The navigation is the best serving good reasonably priced food 7 days a week. There is a dining area inside the pub and they also offer a bar menu for those who want to sit outside and do it casual. During the summer months you will see barges cruising past. The local swans are partial to a good feed of bread! Child friendly and there is a park on site for them to amuse themselves. The summer months also bring good barbeques on most week end nights.

The holes range in their challenge factor and out of our 18 one had a moving feature and others had little tunnels which could lead to holes in 1. We had lots of laughs which was worth the entry. I won. Lies. OK I came second. Seriously even great golfers might lose out to noobs!

They also have a gift and souvenir shop at the reception. I was in room 112, which was on the ground floor, which is a floor down from the reception. The bedroom came with a private verandah overlooking one of the golf courses. The room itself was very generous in terms of its floor space with a kingize bed and two sets of sofas. There was complimentary water, biscuits, tea infusions, coffee and hot chocolate. The bath room had a separate bath and shower cubicle with Molton Brown brand of cosmetics. The service was excellent and the staff were very helpful and friendly. We were supposed to meet clients for dinner in the centre of Derby and were ferried to and fro in a Landrover with the Morley Hayes branding on it. It is by far, one of the nicest hotels I've stayed in and if given an opportunity, I would prefer to stay here again. As with everywhere else, I sincerely hope they continue to maintain their levels of service in the days to come.

Uttoxeter is a nice racecourse with good food and drink facilities and great betting stands. You can wander round and watch the horses before they go to the track and then search for the best odds around the different betting stands. Its great fun and more fun if you go with lots of friends, not expecting to win. If you go expecting to win then you will not have a good time. You have to go with money in your pocket that you expect to spend not to get back and then you will be amazed if you do happen to win.
