We stopped by on a recommendation. Alley Dogz is a food cart in a cool pod. I liked that there were several opportunities to get drinks at the pod bar. Sad to say however we didn't care for our meal at Alley Dogz. Maybe we should have stayed with what they are known for and that's hot dogs. Nothing against the owners this burger was a hot mess in a bad way. We believe the jalapeños were bad, translucent in color and had a bad taste. The burger was over sauced and too many crispy onion rings. It seemed like the focus was more on quantity than quantity. The smash burger was lost in the hot mess of sauce and tainted jalapeños. We ended up removing a bunch of sauce and jalapeños to eat it. The person who took our order was friendly enough it was a super hot day so I didn't expect a super happy person. Can't remember a time I've been treated worse. I walked up; ready to order. The guy saw me, then spent 2-3 minutes joking with his coworker about how they should take a vacation; while I'm standing in the middle of the window where you order. Then he still has time to plug in his phone before nonchalantly taking my order. When I return to get my food he still takes his time (because he's on his phone). Really tasty (and well cooked) smash burger! The service was just ok and it took a while to come out considering how quickly smash burgers cook. There was no one in front of me either. The fries were decent, but mostly because they were fresh out of the fryer. They were pretty generic McD-ish fries. That being said, the smash burger was cooked really well, flattened to a very thin patty and left long enough (on a hot enough griddle) to get a good char on it. The meat was spilling out from all edges of the bun too! The onions, cheese, and burger sauce were all really good too and made for a pretty damn tasty burger. I have read all the bad recent reviews and disagree. While I didn't feel like having a vegan corn dog, the shoestring fries are a love language of mine. May I have crispy thin fries perfectly salted? YES. YES I may. The man running the cart was NOTHING but friendly to me, answered ALL my questions with a smile and made us some freaking AWESOME fries. Like y'all they were GONE in minutes. The kids said "why are these fries SO good?!" And my mom, who made me the fry snob I am, said "these are great!" I know to some they're JUST fries but to me they're glorious. The food cart pod has a GREAT outdoor seating area with plenty of room. There are LOADS of doggies there, or at least when we came, and it was a chill and fun Bend vibe. Love these fries. Honestly, the corndog was not that great because the breading didn't have much flavor and the dog was way too mushy inside without any snappiness or much flavor. The fries are extremely skinny and kind of dry and they don't give you any nice sides. read more

First the good: We had two "Hand dipped" corn dogs and they were quite good. The fries were excellent...really liked them. In preface, we just returned from the Oregon Coast and Rockaway Beach and had a couple of corn dogs at the Original "Pronto Pup" there...they were great! So, two corn dogs at the Pronto Pup...$4 each, and two corn dogs and fries at Alley Dogz...$20! I think overpriced, even by Bend standards! Yeah, no. Went to Proving Grounds and they were the only truck (that's not their fault, it was a terribly planned event, but I digress). So we of course get food there as it's the only choice and the event is out in the boonies. I got a 'giant pretzel' for $10, and a grilled cheese for $12. The food took over 30 minutes, but again, they were the only truck, so I get it. What I don't get is why they made my pretzel ten minutes before the grilled cheese, so by the time I got the pretzel it was stone cold. It was also dry as all hell - I nearly choked on the stupid thing while trying to eat it. It also was NOT a pretzel. It was more like an overcooked, dried out, tasteless croissant with a little salt on it. Not good at all, not giant, and NOT worth $10 - not even close. For as bad as the pretzel was, the grilled cheese was far worse. For TWELVE DOLLARS, I got a sandwich that looked like the kind I make for my kid as an after school snack - two pieces of Valu Corner white bread with a few slices of cheese in the middle. That's IT. No chips, no yummy home baked bread, not even a soggy pickle slice. For. Twelve. Dollars. WTF. I almost ordered the fries, but decided against it when I saw that they were $8 and for that price you got a whopping 10 or so steak fries (even though the menu said shoe string). So that's what, 75 cents per fry? What is going on, exactly? Also, guys, if you're going to charge gourmet pricing, don't leave your empty First Street (Smart and Final brand) boxes of fries laying around so everybody can see you bought the dirt cheapest food possible so you could rob us and sell us garbage for 5x what it should cost. Today I tried the Alley Dogz food cart and ordered the "Loaded Hot Dog", It was $14.00 The hot dog came on a cold hoagie roll the same as you get at Costco), but at least at Costco it comes with a steamed hoagie roll. The Alley Dog was loaded with cold sauerkraut, cold peperoncini peppers, and mustard and a side of cold fries, total price $14.00. Seriously? All I have to say is that this is the BEST pretzel I have ever had. It wasn't as big as I was imagining but it was so good. It was freshly made, and came with cheese dipping sauce. Each bite was super soft and fluffy. My husband and I shared it. We wanted more! We definitely recommend the pretzel here. They do have many hot dog options, some vegan. Came here with the spouse; each of us got the smash burger with fries per a recommendation we saw on Reddit. It was... OK. Nothing was bad, but neither the fries nor the burger- $14 for the combo- were anything special. And certainly not worth $14. When smash burger are stupidly easy to make at home, this is a hard one to recommend. Even my husband, who famously heaps praise on anything involving meat, said "meh". Honestly, I have never yelped a business. But on Sunday June 11th, after my meal, I just couldn't help it. Alley Dogz on 4th st Bend has gone down the tubes. First they changed their menu, eliminating the grilled cheese sandwiches and the hand dipped corn dogs, then they minimized their menu to almost nothing. My meal on Sunday night was disgusting. The dog was Luke warm, I couldn't eat it, and the fries were barely warm and limp, even after I asked and received confirmation that they would be well done.
