Four bridesmaids and the mother of the groom trek to Salon Allure for some high falutin', super stylin' hair flair. Armed with muffins, fruit and champagne, this was to be a few hours to relax before the madness... Salon Allure has a BEAUTIFUL new space. Relaxing, classic, smooth and contemporary. Nestled in an up-and-coming stretch of Union Street...it's poised to pamper. Nice digs. The good... Heather did my hair and the hair of one other bridesmaid. She was talkative, congenial, gave me the perfect "country club" poof hair. A little bit fancy, but mostly I looked myself, but a grown up. She even hid my streak (for the most part), and I'm sure the bride appreciated that ;) She curled the hell out of the other girl's hair...looked beautiful. The bad: The rest of the staff just seemed terribly unenthused. It was disappointing. The girl that did two of the girl's hair was hardly friendly, borderline curmudgeonly. But, whatever...it is what it is, and then...we got the bill. I am sorry, my friends. If you are going to charge $95 for a pretty novice looking updo, you best do it with a damn smile. $95. I was in SHOCK. ABSOLUTELY ridiculous. None of them took over 40 minutes. My blowdry style: $45 3 updos: $95/pop Mother of the Groom: $80 So we are talking, around $500 with tip to basically rearrange some hair. Make an effort. SERIOUSLY. So, basically...this place needs to get over itself....or step up to the plate with better work and better service. (this excludes Heather, she was great). But 50 percent still equals: pretty lacking. 3 stars is generous, as it may have been an off day. Came out bright red. They do not show care or concern. They of course offer to fix it when it should have been right the first time. No one has three more hours to get it fixed. My stylist knew I was headed out of town. Easy to offer when your client won't be there to accept the offer. People don't have the time to return to a hairdresser they don't trust. My back was soaked from laying in a bowl for half an hour. I suspected something was wrong, as this is very unusual. I left in a wet shirt, hair dye all over my neck, and face and hairline . Which I have photos of Martina . Very rookie to let a customer leave like that. Very unprofessional. I was told I would be given a discount but when that number came up I was not told that you keep the $50 deposit fee. I was charged $148.00 for a botched job which they should refund. I however, have read the reviews. I don't expect to ever see this returned. I never received a style. Why after a bad color would anyone sit expecting to see their hair beautifully styled. Changes won't happen until this owner sees how frustrating this could all be for a client. After reading the reviews myself after this experience, I can see that wont happen. Upon entering you can clearly see that the interior needs a facelift. The water in the rinse bowl flips back and forth from scalding to cold. I was in the bowl so long that other stylists were making fun of my stylist for using up all the hot water! I left so upset, I had to sit in my car and calm myself down. As a 48 year old woman , I can tell you, it takes a lot to get me to that place. The swearing between the stylists was gross too. Letting a few loose here and there. I get it. I walked in with a full set of eyelashes and walked out an hour later not only without any extensions but my own eyelashes were completely gone!!! Once my hair was washed and dried, my hair was nothing like I asked me! It was so red and nothing why I wanted. Not only was the color wrong, but by that weekend, all the color was washed out! I'm back to my original color! I'm giving this place 2 stars just based on the location itself. It's a beautiful salon with very friendly people. Just for $180 for just hair coloring (no cut was done) to just have it not stay after 1 wash 3 days later. Needless to say, it was a waste of money and I'll be going somewhere else for my hair. **Update** It's 8/17 and I haven't heard anything back from them. Very disappointed...
