I was impressed by all her work on compiling a styling guide (with links) and tons of details to make your session a success. Our session was scheduled for Nov 2nd. We received confirmation emails leading up to the session and when we arrived she text me directly to communicate. One of the selling points for me was that she advertised a quick turn around, up I think she said 7 business days. Last time we did photos (different photographer) we waited 4+ weeks and still didn't have anything delivered, which was communicated in advance, but my impatient heart couldn't handle it. Our first shoot was a 1950s-inspired 4-year anniversary session during Almond Blossom season, followed by a solo shoot with the same vintage theme (also set among the blossoms). Most recently, we had our 1st wedding anniversary session in Downtown Modesto -- a bit more casual, but just as special! Sandy always makes us feel completely at ease in front of the camera -- which is saying a lot since my husband hates being photographed! She keeps every session light, fun, and natural, and she has such a great eye for capturing genuine, in-the-moment smiles. She's also amazing at recreating inspo photos you share ahead of time, so if you have a vision, she'll absolutely help bring it to life. The photos turned out AMAZING -- she captured our personalities and the joy of the day perfectly. I was literally laughing in most of the pictures, and I love that she caught those candid moments so beautifully. This was our third shoot with Sandy, and it definitely won't be our last. They provide excellent service and gorgeous photos for incredibly reasonable prices. My husband and I first asked them to do a nice couples portrait for us on the UC Berkeley campus. We had never done any sort of portraits before (y'know, beyond those stiff, cheesy school photos back in the day), so we were a little nervous to start. Justin and his wife/assistant Dana immediately put us at ease with their friendly, professional manner. After a few shots my husband and I relaxed, and we got some wonderful photos to share as Xmas gifts (and yes, we even did some cheesy poses for fun). We came back to them a few years later for newborn photos for our first child. We arranged for them to visit us in the hospital, and I treasure those pictures above all others taken in that period. I had a difficult and unpleasant experience in the hospital (but that's for another Yelp review), but when I look at Justin's beautiful photos all I remember were the good moments, and how much Justin and Dana's calm, friendly visit cheered me up. They came to our home a few weeks later for part two of our newborn portrait package. Again, their bright manner made the afternoon special and fun. They did some lovely "candid" shots of us feeding our baby, then some more posed shots of the baby with some fun props they'd brought. As parents themselves, they know how to calmly and easily deal with a little newborn, and our little guy was as relaxed as a month-old could be. The pictures turned out AMAZING. Well, that baby is a year-and-a-half, and it's time for some family portraits. I know exactly who we're turning to!

We wanted to be comfortable with them as we would be getting intimate in front of them. We sat down with Carolyn, and my now husband and I knew immediately that we HAD to have Carolyn as our photographer. We threw a challenge at her (we wanted pictures at the mall where we first met, AND outdoor shots reminiscent of Twilight), and she was excited by the ideas we had rather than look stumped like other photographers we had met with. She was a champion, and made both ideas come to life. At our wedding, we threw another challenge at her (1 hour to take shots of bridal party while not allowing the couple to see each other). Carolyn made excellent use of the time, and got AMAZING shots. Even when our officiant tried to step in, Carolyn handled it with grace and worked out the shots. Carolyn is a cheerleader for love, and photography is obviously her passion.
