Having been a client of Barker Uerlings Insurance, Corvallis, Oregon, for more than 20 years, I had been exceptionally pleased with the service from my original agent who, unfortunately died. I was then shifted to another agent, Vickie Carpenter, who provided less than acceptable service and attention. I requested another agent and was changed to Deanna Grove a couple of years ago. She has never made any attempt to meet with me, view my properties, or review my insurance other than argue and try to push additional insurance policies without any knowledge or understanding of my needs. Recently, she arbitrarily took action affecting my policies, protection, liability and costs by changing the my policy and coverage on a property I own jointly with my son. We have had the exact same policy and coverage on this property for over 16 years and there was no reason to make a change, immediate or otherwise, without even an attempt at a phone call or email. She acted on erroneous information and did not bother to confirm, discuss options, or consider alternatives. She simply changed our coverage, costs, and policies and left us and our property without appropriate insurance and increased costs. Even though my son (and joint owner home owner and occupant) was also her client for his auto coverage, she did not make any attempt to contact him to discuss his options or notify him his home and belongings were no longer insured. Late last year, I requested a review of my coverages, options, and other companies to consider. She put me off until closer to the renewal date in February but still did not act until I again requested a review in January. She then sent me a curt email saying she had reviewed other companies and MetLife offered the best rates without giving me even the names of the other companies or comparison coverages. When I asked for that information I found numerous errors on the requests for quotes she had submitted reflecting her lack of attention to details and incompetence. Between her delays and her being unavailable, the MetLife policy automatically renewed and was paid through escrow. To continue my coverage, I made payments for the auto portions. When I discovered there were claims on my account that were not mine Ms Grove only wanted to argue instead of research and correct the errors. In 20 years, I have carried multiple home, income properties, autos, and business policies and only had one minor auto claim that was my fault. Premiums have always been paid in a timely manner. I have not been a problem client. We were not willing to continue to deal with Ms Grove and had to find another agent who was authorized to represent MetLife. I had been pleased with MetLife and had no reason to change companies but found it impossible to find another agent willing to deal with MetLife especially after the annual commissions were already paid to Ms. Grove. MetLife would not deal with us directly. We ended up changing agents and companies resulting in lapse in coverages, duplicate payments, delayed refunds, higher costs, inspections, providing documentation to correct errors on my accounts, appeals, and hours and hours of frustrations over the last 5 months. None of this was necessary and certainly not without an opportunity to discuss options in a reasonable timeline before any changes were made. Our new coverage is costing us each approximately $500 more a year for comparable coverages. Changing companies is now reflected in our insurance history and resulted in credit inquiries and notations on our credit reports. The time spent to resolve was overwhelming and frustrating. Deanna Grove acted without authorization, without authority, and without ethics.

Recently had to call in 10 minutes before they closed and the lady who helped me got me back on track in no time! When Chris departed State farm our policies automatically transferred to Justin Kruse. We got off to a really rocky start when we were notified by mail that our policy for our apartment building had been canceled. There was no communication with us about any concerns they had or anything. They listed some minor issues about tenants having trash by the house and some other things. I was irritated that this policy was canceled with no discussion, and frankly a bit surprised because these commercial policies are quite a bit more expensive than your average home policy. At that point I started a new policy with another agency. Then there were a few poor discussion with his office staff, including one of them telling me that if I had questions about flood insurance rates I needed to talk to FEMA, Justin didn't have time for me. Again, even if for self preservation alone, I thought they would make time to answer my questions because at the time we had 3 rentals, 1 homeowner, 4 cars, and 3 life insurance policies. I had enough poor communication and brush offs and decided to migrate the remainder of my policies out of his office. He hadn't actually ever taken the time to call us in person or set up a face to face meeting. In December we got a new policy for our homeowners with the new agency we are using. Apparently someone may have dropped the ball and not have been notified at that time that we changed. In April they called about our homeowners policy and we told them that we had moved to another agency. Again in August, they(office staff of course) called to tell us they needed to talk to us about the policy and I was very upset to hear that they were STILL charging us for a policy 8 months after we changed providers! So this week I got a check for less than $40 telling me they canceled our policy effective September 3rd. We exchanged several calls(Staff) and emails about when they knew for sure and about the conversation in May that they have no record of. Finally I went to his office to talk to him in person about when they were notified and how far back they will back date the refund and during the conversation he says to me "If I thought that discussion really happened I would go to bat for you" . So if you are just dying for the opportunity to be ignored and then called a liar please contact Justin Kruse. All joking aside, there are too many other great agents that actually care to use this guy!

Most of those years were with Michael Berrey after another agent left and he took over. Our relationship was simple. Michael attempted to sell us life insurance policies; we paid for our home and auto insurance consistently on time. We chose State Farm and stuck with Michael because we wanted a local agent to help us when disaster struck. Then in 2022 we had an incident at our home requiring help from State Farm. Michael's office was less than helpful. Our case was handled by the devil's spawn from Eugene who did all he could to not pay for what our insurance should cover. This man was extremely difficult to get ahold of, and only finally agreed to pay up after making a "deal" with our building contractor. We then learned someone far away in another state had the final say, and that the man from Eugene was just an insurance contractor. Another round of frustration ensued. At no point was any of this information shared with us by Michael Berrey's office. After one call attempting to get help, his secretary forgot to hang up the phone and could be heard mocking our plight. After six months of terrible service from Michael's office, we are with a new agent and company. Michael's only response was to say, "but you might not get the best rate." In transferring to a new insurer, we learned that we had been grossly underinsured by Michael's office if a major disaster were to strike. Michael Berrey's office appears to exist to simply take your money, so I'm surprised he never pointed out we were underinsured to raise our rates.
