I was hospitalized in Alma and they did many tests on me and when they released me the told me I needed to get a family Doctor to read the findings of the testings. Dr. Scott Strom DO was recommended by a friend who works for Hospital. Had to wait until Juy 1 st for my Medicare part B to be in effect. Have a serious medical problem still today. I checked and it said that the Doctor is taking new patients and filled out a application for a new patient. on Monday they told me to call back Friday. I called back today to make an appointment and was told only that I had been turned down as a new patient. No reason was given and they hung up. I am 68 years old and need to see a doctor soon before my medical problem becomes greater. the Office people are very professional but not friendly at all. very matter a fact. I would not go there even if they would take me now. read more

I had an office visit in july 2014. Simple tetanus shot. Paid cash for the visit told the girl do not file with my insurance because they will not pay anyway and i am not worried about my deductible. The office filed anyway billed me 8 months later for $13.88. I had the bill less than 30 days was busy with tax time. The collection lady from alma family practice called and ask me when could they expect payment. I was shocked. I like dr strom but their billing department is ridicoulous. I had already mailed the $13.88 i guess she did not bother to check the mail. If they needed the money that bad maybe i should have delivered it in person. read more

I have no problem with Dr Strom, or any of the medical staff really. But the office is... at best, they're unfriendly and brisk. At worst... If you cancel an appointment, you'd better double check that they really canceled it, or bill you for "missing your appointment". Once is an accident, twice could be coincidence, but... The woman in their billing is the worst, hands down. She's rude and very out-of-line. I had to come in once for a blood test at their lab, was told I needed no appointment and there'd be no charge, that it'd be covered by the office visit's charge they just couldn't run the test that day because I needed to have not eaten yet that day. So, I came in the following day, lab people were fine and nice, and yes, no charge, but I was flagged down by the women at the desk and told billing wanted to see me. I went back trying to think if there were any appointments I'd canceled, because I'd already gone through that with them... She wanted me to pay for my previous visit, even though I had already paid my deductible and they were supposed to bill my insurance. She also wanted me to pay a bill for $120 from TWO YEARS before, for something that was covered by my insurance. And that I hadn't been billed for. And I'd been in countless times since then and they'd never mentioned. I told her that that SHOULD be covered and to resubmit it (I later called the insurer myself, and it was covered, and they did pay it--I don't know when) but she told me they wouldn't send me the results from my labwork until it was paid or at least until I "put something down on it". I only had $6 with me for lunch (which I wasn't about to give her because I hadn't been able to eat breakfast) and told her I wasn't paying it because the insurance should have covered it. She went off on me for "not paying my bills" and how had I expected to pay for today's office visit--to say she was unprofessional was a vast understatement. BTW, after I called and asked my insurer about that bill, they said they'd take a look and get back to me--or not if it was a mistake. And I've never heard about it again, it's just disappeared. Although I like Dr Strom, I've avoided making appointments since then, though I haven't changed doctors, yet, because I loath dealing with their appointment and billing departments. read more

I was told they were taking new patients and they took my insurance. I called, they told me I had to come in and fill out paperwork and that it would be given to ALL the doctor's in that office and they ALL would look over my information and decide if they wanted to take me as a new patient. Well a week later, I had to call them only to find out they won't take me nor my husband as patient's. I asked why and no one will tell me why. This is the second dr.'s office that has done this. If your not taking new patient's, then stop saying you are cause your not. I feel they are discriminating me for either I'm not sick enough for them or they can't make enough money off my insurance. Not sure why I keep getting turned down. That is only my conclusion because NO ONE will tell my why I'm being turned down. I would think that just out of common respect for people, they would at least give a reason. read more
