The site of this restaurant is where big Bob, Bashsara owned the building before it was knocked down, dungeon and all. Their honey tamarind chicken lollipops sound good, as well as their peanut chicken salad, chicken Chilaquiles and chicken satay too. I must be hungry. They are open for dine-in and have the bar open as well. It's a decent sized space. I came here with my husband and my parents for a Saturday night takeout. My parents are still not keen on eating out despite. We ordered online since no one is answering the call for orders. We ordered the honey tamarind chicken lollipops, Brutus chicken hash, BBQ pulled pork sandwich with apple slaw, curry coconut chicken, peanut chicken salad and an upside down apple pie. Bill total is $62.53. We were able to pay online. Food order takes about a half hour to make. I arrived shortly after the 35 minute mark. Food is not ready. Be sure to add an additional 25 minutes or so to your order. We had 6 items on our order. Food was finally done an hour and 10 minutes later, very irritating to say the least, since their online order estimate clearly said 30 minutes for the order to be ready to be picked up. The woman behind the front counters are taking orders over the phone. She's busy seating guests when she should be telling the kitchen to get my order out ASAP. The peanut chicken salad was okay, not so peanuty and not super flavorful. The pulled pork might have been better, but it was too spicy for either of my parents. My mother had to eat hers with a glass of milk. The Brutus chicken hash was good for my parents . The curry chicken was spicy and decent. The honey tamarind lollipops were okay, rather fatty and the sauce was too spicy for either of my parents. The upside down apple pie was both good for my parents, they said it was tasty. read more

We went here for dinner. The food was alright. The lollipop chicken appetizer was the best thing we got. The stuffed Salmon and beef tenderloin was mediocre. Our waitress only came once to check on us and when we were ready to leave it took forever to get our bill and pay. The decor is very cool though and I loved the booths. The conversion from wing spot sports bar to trendy multicultural family restaurant sounds like a good idea for Grosse Pointe Park. They have an eclectic menu, featuring crab rangoons, curry chicken satay, sliders, poblano pepper quesadillas, cheese stuffed salmon - oh my! Initially I was weary, thinking they were not focused and quite frankly, "doing too much." I was pleasantly surprised. First off, the online ordering was easy and efficient. You receive text updates when order is received, prepared and ready for pick up. Food was ready in 20 minutes on a Friday night. The interior of the restaurant is beautiful, complete with steel bull to greet you at the door. We ordered crab rangoons, chicken tortilla soup, roasted poblano creamed corn tortillas and the brie n crab stuffed salmon. The soup was flavorful, slightly thick, like I like it. The roasted poblano quesadillas were good, just wanted more juicy peppers in there! The salmon was the star (and at $18 it should be). Nicely cooked, yummy, rich brie stuffing. You'll definitely need to order something else-don't expect to get full off of the salmon entree alone. Everything is kinda ala carte/small plate-ish. The crab rangoons... I would not order again - kinda fishy. Don't think they were krab (with a 'k') nor crab (with a 'c'). Overall, they are doing a hell of a job considering their circumstances. Food is tasty and service is great. Lots of affordable options, and pricy ones too. Desserts sound tasty, will go for the white chocolate blueberry bread pudding next time. Alma is an overall solid restaurant, plain and simple. There are a wide range of options on their menu. Everything I've tried so far has been somewhere between above average to amazing. Most restaurants I go to, I'm inclined to play it safe by ordering a dish I'm familiar with. You don't have to do that here. Also, their pricing is more than fair. I thought the quality of the food might not be that good because of the prices, but a friend and I tried the salmon, chicken lollipops, and the upside down apple pie... we cleaned the plates! I promise it tastes better than the quality of the pics I took! I'm not sure how much the drinks we had were and they don't list them on the website, but they seemed low priced as well. I have had the Salmon Frittata which has an interesting lineup of ingredients that sound like they don't belong together but they are very tasty . Today I had the Salmon burger that comes with fries. The burger was thick moist with a bit of a bite. Fresh and clearly homemade. It is one of the best I have had. I am a bit of a salmon burger snob and may judge a place based upon their success.The service is great and the food is hot. Prices are very good. Wine 7 and it was not happy hour! The meals are also priced well. The restaurant has two patios and a garage door to open to the inside. I think it is a very pretty restaurant inside with a very calm demeanor. I always enjoy trying new restaurants to get something different than my usual go-tos. I was told that Alma Kitchen was a Mexican restaurant so picked it when I was up for Mexican, however there are at least 3 cultures of food offered. Theres Korean, Mexican, BBQ/American, and a few pasta dishes. Given, I was told inaccurate information, but the menu feels like it has a lot going on and no clear direction. Going on a Sunday afternoon around 4, the place was nearly empty which was fine by us. Once seated, I did look them up to see photos of the dishes and noticed where google said they were closed when they weren't so that may have something to do with it being empty. Upon entering, we were greeted by a friendly woman who also was the one who served our table. The layout is open, with an industrial style and modern look and feel. There are booths, high tops, low tops, and patio seating available. We ordered a spinach artichoke dip appetizer which came with fried pitas. The dip was really good, we got more pitas than we had dip for but thats not too unusual. My boyfriend said the pitas reminded him of crab rangoon shells, I don't eat seafood so I can not confirm lol! The dip itself was creamy and well seasoned but not too cheesy or stringy which is ideal! As a main, I ordered the MI Son burrito. It came with tortilla chips on the side. Personally, the chips seemed stale as they were a little chewy. The burrito was good but greasy. Inside are french fries, rice, beef, corn, peppers, and cheese. It comes with a green salsa on the side. I wish I could explain the burrito more than greasy, but it did not have a specific flavor from any seasonings or infredients so it was a little forgettable. The green salsa on the side was fresh, perfect amount of spicy, and added a brightness to the burrito. It reminded me of salsa my grandparents used to make. The churro donut sundae was a tasty way to end the meal! The donuts were hot and crisp yet airy, the ice cream paired well, I just wish there was 2 scoops of ice cream vs the one scoop with a bunch of whipped cream, but that's just my personal preference. When we got the bill, we were pleasantly surprised by the prices. They were very fair for what we ordered, and not like other modern restaurants where it's something like $22 base price. Our entrees were about $12 or $13 and the dessert was about $6, and a tall beer was around $5.50. While I would probably return to Alma Kitchen, it's not somewhere I'm craving and need to go back for right away. read more

Nice decor and ambiance! A little dark in some areas but we went during the day, so I'm guessing it's romantic in the evening. We had reservations and we were seated immediately. We skipped the appetizers and I ordered the Shrimp & Kimchi fried rice. The food portions were generous and delicious. It was a little on the salty side but it didn't stop me from eating the entire bowl. My wife ordered some wine and the Peanut Curry chicken with rice, which was absolutely delicious! Already full, we shared the brownie with ice cream and white mocha chocolate drizzle. We couldn't finish it but it was sweet, rich and delicious! Due to the garage door-style bay windows and concrete floors, the noise level quickly became distracting, ranging from tolerable to obnoxious at times. Overall, good experience. We will likely return to try another of their diverse dishes. My husband and I don't live in the area, so we searched for recommendations on Yelp. The location is easy to find. Parking is somewhat challenging. We parked on the street. It's very modern in architecture and minimalist in design. They had one server who did triple duty as host, server and bartender. Prices were expensive in my opinion. Small portions but very well presented. My husband got a sirachi bowl with fried rice. The rice had plenty of egg in it and was delicious. I got a salad with sliced beef tenderloin. I'd ordered medium but it was cooked more like medium well. Very tasty and soft. This place looked like a trendy place for the locals. It had a fair amount of people eating when we went there. One table was having a business meeting. They don't rush you, so that's always good. We probably won't be back because it's a 45 minutes from where we live. We do recommend it. read more

This was our first time here. We came for the brunch menu. We got the Benedict, the breakfast quesadilla, and the French toast to share. Benedict was good! Eggs were cooked perfectly and the sauce was great. Potatoes were good as well. The English muffin was slightly over cooked but I like it that way. I added chorizo to the breakfast quesadilla and it was delicious! Nothing was too overpowering. Although I'd like it even more if it came with a sauce of some sort (salsa, sour cream, etc.) I didn't get a pic of the French toast but it was fluffy and good! Overall, pretty good experience. Coffee was strong and good and our waitress was sweet enough to give me a to go cup as well. Interior was cute and parking was easy. I took my grandma and my little sister here for lunch and the food was delicious! I got the seafood crepes... highly recommend! They were scrumptious. My sister got the chicken and waffles. The chicken was crunchy and the waffles were soft and fluffy. My grandma got the pasta with blackened shrimp I believe. It was also delicious.
