I just love how they bougie up our beloved mochi the classic treat that's not too sweet but does give you the freedom to enjoy it plain, stuffed or dusted with various coatings. Da Mochi Guys does that and more as I found them at Makana Mkt in Ka Makana Ali'i Sunday market from 11a-3p it's just so hard to resist peeking in to see the load they have made for the day with one table with the classic mochi stuffed with Oreo, cookie butter, brownie and kulolo while another table had the butter mochi OMG! Biscoff, Biko and OG that was it for me as I got the OG but noticed a jar of Dubai spread a jar that was a great way to turn any treat to Dubai yumminess which is so smart. The staff there was a trooper in the torrential rain pouring down as it got pretty intense at times but happy to support these great local small biz and share a bit of that happy vibe along the way. Having worked in Honolulu Hale/near FMB in town, I love the Kapolei Hale snack shop! The staff are so nice and the assortment of snacks is winnaz, especially when your girl doesn't feel like eating cup-a-noodle! Things in the snack shop: - Obviously soda/water/juices -Hot foods (meat loaf, pasta, omelet) -Cup-a-noodles - ICE-CREAM (Melona bars, drumsticks, ice cream sandwiches) Like I mention, the staff are always super nice. The food is also really good too. Not to mention their food is such dealz! My meatloaf plate came with a drink and under $10! It's hard to find a filling meal these days without spending an arm and a leg. If you're in the building for an appointment, consider supporting the small shop. #supportlocal

I tried the poi flavor and when I tell you I ate it way too fast... It was gone too quickly and into my tummy. Crispy on the outside, soft and chewy on the inside, and just the right amount of sweetness. Such a perfect little treat. They were set up outside Walmart with a tent when I stopped by, which made it such a random but fun find during my errand run. And they take card payments too! It was $2 extra to add the icing, but 100% worth it. No regrets. Honestly, the best $13 I've spent on food in a while. If you ever see a fried mochi stand pop up... don't think twice. Just get it. Before I proceeded I took a double take and pushed the cart toward them. Hey hubs, Musubis!!! Such delight to find something to fill my almost starting to growl tummy since it was past 9 am. Ooh yay!!! I chose a broke day mout'unagi musubi with edamame and hijiki mixed in plus a piece of unagi- it looked fabulous to me. I didnt think it would fill me so I also grabbed a karikari ume omusibi cuz it looked pretty with pink bits and an ume on the top. Hubs chose a kombu musubi and ate it as soon as we got home.

I hope they can upkeep the quality of the rice, assembly of the overall onigiri and cleanliness of the preparation. I'm excited to try the different onigiris available.

It's about on par with a tornado potato from a K-food truck in Waikiki, so it's not super out of line, but I do wish the prices were listed ahead of time so you would know how much it was. The tater wand was hot and fresh and the toppings were the right amount, I felt. I enjoyed it but would be a 5-star if prices were more transparent.
