This was the perfect tour for my family's first day on O'ahu, allowing us to view a good portion of the island while visiting prominent highlights: Pearl Harbor, the Dole Plantation, and the Polynesian Cultural Center. Summer, our guide, was a true joy and delight. Not only was Summer very personal, respectful and spunky, but also very articulate and knowledgeable, providing insights about culture, facts, and weaving captivating tales of Hawaiian history. Okay so we booked the Aloha Sunshine Tour which took us to Pearl Harbor, USS Arizona Memorial, Dole Plantation, Polynesian Cultural Center and Macadamia Nut Farm. It was a great way to see a lot of the sights in one day and our driver and guide SUMMER was such a sunny, warm person. Right on time the pick up was at 6:15am and included admission to each attraction (food and grat are separate) it is a FULL day of touring as we got back close to 6pm but we really enjoyed Summer's commentary and personality and it was a nice way to start our Oahu trip. We took the O'ahu Grand Circle tour on October 25 and had an incredible day. Our guide, Miah, was a walking encyclopedia, he wove the island's history into every stop and gave us context that went far beyond the typical tourist highlights. Thanks to him, we came away with a deeper understanding of why Native Hawaiians protect their environment and the profound love they have for their culture, people, and home. We used Aloha Sunshine for our Road to Hāna tour and Lisa was the BEST! The tour is about 11 hours and it is worth it. We got to stop along the way at different, local vendors, have some great fruit and chocolate and the views were amazing! The lunch provided was delicious, a nice sandwich, chips, and water. Lisa also offered us local snacks throughout the trip and made sure we were always with water. We HIGHLY recommend water shoes because you will want them when you get to the waterfalls. You can swim in the waterfalls but the ground is rocky so it can make your feet a little sore. If you get motion sickness, take medicine before you get going AND/OR before you head back. The driving wasn't a problem, it's the road and how many turns and curves there are. But if you can, ask for Lisa to be your tour guide. She had so much knowledge and she was so funny and you can tell all the locals love her. This tour was worth every minute, it's beautiful and a once in a lifetime trip. read more

Not worth it. All they do is drive you to Pearl Harbor and you're on your own from 7:00am to 10:30am. The tour guide is not with you. And you have to sign up at a kiosk for standby tickets for USS Arizona. Tickets are not guaranteed. No tickets to anything are included. They engage in deceptive marketing as the description says: "Entry tickets to all the attractions on your tour are included" and "Entry tickets to the attractions on your tour will be provided by your guide on the day of your tour" and "Admission Included" for USS Arizona. The guide does not give you any tickets, and nowhere does it say that you will be on standby for USS Arizona. On the way back, there is one stop at King Kamehameha Statue and you'll pass by some other sites, but it was quick and not really worth it. This is not much more than a very expensive Uber ride to Pearl Harbor. I recommend taking an Uber instead and saving your money. read more

The Oahu Grand Circle Island Experience from Waikiki: We were originally scheduled to meet around 7:20 AM. However, the bus didn't arrive until about 8:00 AM. We recognized the name on the bus and attempted to board, but the driver told us we weren't on the list and that our bus would arrive later. At around 8:20 AM, I called the company to ask where our bus was. The representative initially seemed confused, and it appeared that our names weren't on the list. About 15 minutes later, he called back to say, "The driver is on his way back." It turned out that the driver we had spoken to earlier was our actual bus driver all along! When he came back, he still called out the wrong names, and even after we spoke to someone at the office, he was given incorrect information again. As a result of this mix-up, my girlfriend and I were unable to sit together for the entire 10-hour ride. On top of that, we lost about 1-2 hours just waiting. Since buses are likely required to return by a certain time, that delay probably cut 1-2 hours off our actual sightseeing time as well. Another issue is the company's policy of allowing, and seemingly encouraging, very young children on board. Their policy allows children under 2 years old to join the tour, which I find completely unreasonable. There was a 9-month-old baby on board (we overheard the parents mention the age), and the baby cried for about 70% of the trip. The inconsiderate parents sat right in the front, and due to the constant crying, we could barely hear the tour guide. While I understand that babies are allowed on flights and other forms of travel and it is unavoidable, bringing a crying infant on a 10-hour tour bus is inconsiderate, and this couple went to sleep a few times while the baby was crying, (WHY EVEN GO ON THE TOUR TO BEGIN WITH?!). While the main blame falls on the parents, the company should have an age minimum for these types of tours. The crying disrupted the experience for all the other paying customers, we were all talking about it amongst each other during the stops. Additionally, It stated that "snacks are provided," but only beverages were actually offered. While the tour itself wasn't worth the money, the bigger issue is the waste of time. We only have so many days to enjoy this beautiful island, and losing an entire day of our vacation is time we will never get back. There are plenty of tour companies to choose from, so it's easy to go with someone else. If you're considering this tour, I strongly recommend choosing a different company. I can only give a review based on my experience, if it was not for the grievances listed above, this would have been an OK tour. read more

DO NOT BOOK! They started by exporting $189 dollars after already paying almost $1000 dollars for the tour, claiming the airfare was more expensive than expected. No where in the billing did they note that prices vary. Given we were already in Hawaii we decided to suck it up as they refused a refund. We went on the tour with an open mind not wanting to ruin the day. Our tour guide was horrible...we stopped at the pearl harbor museum which was listed as a 3 hour stop. We asked what time to be back at the bus...he said take your time. We were then rudely flagged down in the gift shop and scolded saying that we ruined the stops for the rest of the tour. Well, we tried Aloha Sunshine Tours a second time the next day. This time on the island of Ohau. We thought maybe yesterday was a fluke. Our guide, Leean, was terrible. She was a remnant of a 60's hippie love child. She spent a lot of the time lecturing us on how we should all love each other and ranting against rich people. She also kept ranting against "They!" And how "they" want to oppress us. I finally asked her who "they" are. She replied 'The elite." The tour itself was also horrible as we spent so much time at tourist trap stores instead of informative stops. Usually, you would expect stops to include some type of demonstration explaining how their product is made, etc. NOPE, not on this tour; just "opportunities to shop their goods." Initially we booked out tour of and were quoted a fee of $1,000 that included airfare from Maui which is where we were staying. The night before the tour we were told they wanted an additional $190. We said it was too much and it was unfair because the price was guaranteed at $1000. We tried to cancel and get out money back but the refused. So rather than being out $1000, we paid the extortion. We booked a Pearl Harbor tour for our family of 11 which included a flight from Kauai. The Hawaiian airlines flight from Kauai was 30 minutes late and this just sent the tour guide into a total panic. We waited for 30 minutes at the airport for him to pick us up and then we didn't have tickets to Pearl Harbor so we had to wait in line. Which would have been totally fine, but he was rushing us because he had to get to the other tour spots. We rushed out of Pearl Harbor and then found the bus in the parking lot broken down. The guide indicated to us that he would probably not be able to get us back to the airport until 15 minutes before our flight back to Kauai, so we decided to leave the tour and explore Pearl Harbor on our own. We had a great day on our own and that was 100% the right decision, but wasted something like $2000 on a tour that we didn't get to go on. I feel like the company should be better prepared to deal with unexpected situations and this tour includes way too many spots that are way too far away to be able to leave room for any unforeseen circumstances. We felt so bad leaving our guide because it wasn't his fault and he was going to miss out on a day of tips, but we just couldn't risk getting stranded in Oahu for a night. read more

We did the island tour starting with Pearl Harbor, going to the Dole Plantation, Polynesian Cultural Center, and more. Johnny Aloha, our tour guide with the vibe of a hip, cool uncle (or "cousin" as they say in Hawaii), one who knows how to show the kids a good time, and can be trusted to drive safe, keep everyone on schedule, keep the language PG-13 or better, and find music that suits everyone on the road trip. Being so adaptable and friendly to all of the people on board made it conducive to everyone being the same way with each other, and showing interest and celebratory attitudes to fellow travelers. By contrast, when we stopped at Pearl Harbor, we noticed that another driver (for this same company) was having a really bad day, was being acerbic, hostile and cussing, and was rude to our driver (all because she had forgotten to bring her phone charger). Johnny took it all in stride, was very professional and laid back and assured us that we were all good and, again, swirled us all around into a fun-focused mindset. Pearl Harbor has a lot of first-come-first-served standby protocols, but we followed Johnny's instructions and all were able to get on the first boat over to the USS Arizona Memorial. He really crammed a lot into a single one-day trip and was terrific from start to finish, pointing out historical, significant, trendy and just amazing points of interest, while keeping us safe (watch out to not step on the kukui nuts when you walk on the grass), and making sure we all maximized the trip, like giving us the option of getting a free Dole-whip ice cream cone at the restaurant where we ate lunch if we scanned a QR code and gave a good review. His friendly interactions with other tour guides, vendors and people around the island was great proof that you can create great environments around you and other like-minded people. read more

This is a review for Dell our tour guide for the road to Hana in Maui. I heard this tour company just started expanding to this island so they probably don't have their own business page for Maui yet. Dell arrived to pick us up for our excursion at 7am with a very can do attitude! Despite our group being only 5 people, he did not in anyway relax his enthusiasm for the culture and love of this island. He shared many stories of personal experiences as well as local legends and history of Hana. I felt like he found a good balance of educating us on how to respect the natives as well as make us feel welcome to the land. He entertained all of our stupid questions and joked around wildly with us. His personality elevated our overall experience. He is so personable and caring, making sure to give us tips on how to enjoy every stop we made. One thing I noted especially was his kindness, obviously being friendly is a necessity to any customer service job, but Dell went beyond this call of duty. Our mom has a bad knee and he stuck by her for most of our walking activities to be sure she could comfortably explore the landscape. She also got a bit car sick from the toss and turns and he stopped for her to make sure she could get fresh air and a bag in case her lunch wanted to make an encore appearance. Our day with him was spectacular! After he dropped us back off at our hotel, he sent us a list of all his favorite spots, from food to activities and beaches. Our tour guide, Mel, was fantastic. His knowledge of the big island's flora, fauna, and history was impressive, as was his knowledge of Hawaiian culture and customs. I've traveled extensively and can say he is the best tour guide I have ever had. His driving was careful and he was very courteous the entire time. We asked many questions, and he was patient and knowledgeable in his replies. He made the tour interesting and enjoyable. We only went on the tour to see Volcanos National Park, but it was so much more. Because of him, I'm giving a 5-star rating. As a side note: I called their office the day before the tour with some questions. Whenever any customer relations person starts a sentence with "No disrespect intended," it's already disrespectful. She chewed me out for calling the day before and not sooner. I know she was having a bad day due to many flight cancellations, but that certainly wasn't my fault. The way she spoke to me was insulting. I would have canceled our tour if I could have gotten a refund. I really enjoyed the tour. It worth the money that I paid. The tour guide named Henry was very helpful and told us a lot of historical facts about the island and the volcanos. He is very knowledgeable. He did a great job as a guide. The only thing that I am confused about is the xenophobic attitude towards my friend and I. I speak with an accent and the tour guide imitated my accent all day long considering that as a joke. It was funny in the beginning , but became annoying after it was repeated constantly. It seems like your company has a lot of experience in tourism and I am surprised that you don't instruct your employees about cultural aspects of hospitality. This type of jokes definitely don't spread the "aloha" culture which is proclaimed by Hawaiians. If the guide who works for your company tried to break an ice by making jokes about my heritage, that definitely did not work, because such behavior builds a wall between customer and a company representative. I really want to suggest your company to my friends because as I said before I enjoyed the tour. The question is: should I do so? This is for Dell, our guide on the Road to Hana tour on Maui. He was great! He kept such a positive and fun attitude throughout the tour, even when we had a really inconsiderate couple on the tour who made the whole group wait for them on more than one occasion. He was a great driver too. We were scared off by everyone talking about motion sickness prior to booking, but it was totally fine! The tour itself is pretty nice. A bit pricey (their price is very competitive with all others - so no need to price shop around) - it would be kind of a drag to drive yourself with the one-way bridges and such. We did get to stop at waterfalls and beaches and go into the water, which was great. One tip: We planned like crazy in advance for this and stocked up on food and drink, but it turned out we had a very long stop at Safeway to start the trip, so you can just wait and get anything you need there. I actually wish they let us know this in advance. read more

Our family went on the Hawaii Volcanoes National Park Tour from Oahu and had such a wonderful time seeing all the sites with Melvin (Mel) as our tour guide. Mel was extremely knowledgeable about all of the history of Hawaii, as well as the volcanoes. He took us on an extensive tour of the the Volcano National Park and drove through other towns, like Kona, which was so beautiful and a place we want to return to soon. Although this day trip was long (including the flights), it was worth it to see the big island. And Mel made all the difference with his warm and personable demeanor.
