I asked the employee if it had been opened or used before purchasing, (there were no other boxes to compare to). She assured me that it hadn't been. When I realized that the perfume box should have been sealed in cellophane if it was a new, unopened product, I immediately called the store and subsequently returned the perfume, (a 45 minute drive as I don't live in the area). After explaining the situation to a person in management, she told me that I should be more careful because her employees don't always know if a product is a tester. No apology for the store's mistake, instead she scolded me for not knowing more than the employees in the beauty department.
