We have a 2nd and 5th grader and I've always been pleased with their teachers, the staff is very professional and has always been helpful when I had questions or when I was at the school to visit. The grounds of this school are so well kept, the security here gives me comfort as well, so many resource officers and lots of teachers out helping kids when it's time for final bell. Teachers are great at communicating here, we couldn't make it to our sons parent teacher conference so she called us and had a phone conference instead, they are so good at working around busy schedules too! Best public elementary school we came across…read more The other pointless parent review/complaint about "forcing" kids to apply for jobs inside their school is one of the dumbest things I have heard someone complain about... if you're mad or upset that a school is trying to set your child up for the REAL world and better them as human beings THEN HOMESCHOOL YOUR CHILDREN! Mitchell's curriculum is outstanding and the teachers/administration truly care about each and every child there. I, myself, am a single mom on a VERY limited low income/budget and never once felt "excluded" or "unqualified" for any type of participation regarding ANYTHING at Mitchell. Beautiful school no special effects but just well maintained and man the programs they have here are intriguing. We were able to see most of the school but mainly Kindergarten classes while in session. Each class we entered a student would speak to us and i was amazed with the students well spoken and very knowledgeable about their topic. Everything seems great about this school from the outside looking in, once my daughter completes her first year I'll write an update review. Now the reason my wife choose this school was because she was told how diverse Roland park was and I'm here to tell you that's not true from what i witnessed. We visited maybe 7 different classes and not one black or latino teacher. Each class had one black student and yes i was looking. We saw teachers in the hallway walking their students from classes to classes and nope no diversity in sight. Definitely not surprising being that most folks see corporate America as diverse because they're a handful of black and brown folks in a office. Maybe they do have black and latino teachers but i didn't see not one and honestly i only saw one staffer that was black the entire 2hrs we was on the tour. Nevertheless the verdict is still out but looks to be a good school and i hope my daughter first experience in this school is a good one

As a former employee of Seaborn Day School Early Years in Beach Park, I believe some of my insight…read moremay be helpful when deciding who to trust with your child. As respectfully as I can, I urge you to choose another facility. Here are a few examples: We were instructed to always tell the parents that their child had a good day- even if they had a terrible day. We were told that "if it was bad enough to tell them, we would have called". I did not agree with that policy, nor did I follow it. I am glad to have had a comfortable relationship with the parents of my kids in my class, so I would always tell them the truth about their child's day. There have also been some licensing concerns that have gone ignored by the directors and owner. One specific instance was during our afternoon nap, we would combine a couple of rooms. We were always over-ratio, with more kids than allowed with the amount of adults we had. When licensing pointed that out, we asked our director about it later and suggested breaking our nap into a couple rooms instead of one. Our director then told us that we wouldn't do that, instead if licensing came again, we would just "pull a few kids into the common area" before they came back to check our room. That is a clear example of the director putting her own convenience in place of the safety of the children. I have personally witnessed the director lying to parents about what we do and don't do... We did not clean our toys daily or weekly like my director informed the parents. In fact, the only time I pulled out all of my toys and thoroughly washed them was after my class had a couple Covid cases. In addition to those things, we constantly had ants crawling everywhere. On the countertops, on the high chair trays, and on the floor. We brought it to our director's attention many times, but nothing was done. My director also lied about contacting parents when she said she had. We had a student who was out for a couple days, so we asked the director about him. (We LOVED those kids like our own and we were worried!) She then told us that she would contact his parents and ask for us. Another week went by, and the child finally returned. We asked mom where they had been, since our director told us she never got an answer after reaching out "multiple times". On the contrary, the student's mom told us that she never received a call or text from our director. While my coworkers and I were always loving and compassionate, I do not think that we were able to make up for the systematic downfalls of this school. I want the best for your children, ad in my opinion, Seaborn Beach Park will not be anywhere near the best.
