I went there for an open mic on a Friday night. On thst night they served Chile. It was a Small serving with a tiny piece of cornbread. It tasted good nothing special. Had the bowl been properly filled I'd been happier. A can of Pepsi was $1.25 not terrible. The barmaids were friendly. The customers were all friendly too. Visited on Veteran's Day with my dad, a retired, 100% disabled Vietnam era Navy Seal, and my brother. They had a decent sized meal prepared for Veterans Day. It was delicious except for the thousand island dressing served with the salad- lol- no other options. The food was great! Delicious. Other issues- very hard to get up to the outside tables behind the building. My dad can barely stand up and walk without losing his balance and there didn't look to be any other options besides the stairs. Once in the back at the outdoor tables it looks like you can drive your car around back and get to the tables from there without having to navigate the stairs, but we didn't know this and nobody mentioned it inside the restaurant/bar. The other issue is that the drink service was so, so, so SLOW!! The server that served our food didn't ask us if we wanted anything to drink so I figured it was busy and it was self serve. I went down to the bar and waited at least 10 minutes before I could even order. The bartender was old (no judgement) and very chatty with the customers actually sitting at the bar and slow. Then he served someone else before me because I had sat down and it didn't look like I had been waiting in line. Then someone else who worked there asked me if I would mind giving up the stool I was sitting on for an older gentleman who was a regular and was on his way and I was sitting on his favorite stool. Omg. Of course I was like "no problem!" and it wasn't. It was just weird. Especially because I would ALWAYS offer my seat to anyone older or who needed it more. Second time I went to get drinks it was the same long, long wait. It seems to me that the people who work here are just used to the same customers all the time and treat others as if they are outsiders. Loved the food and there was a live band which was cool but I think they could be friendlier and more personable and not make customers feel like they don't belong. read more

Stop by with my Wife and Daughter for breakfast Sunday morning, got there at a few minutes before 11am. Sign said Breakfast served till 11am, went in friendly people. Asked if we were too late they said 'No' so we had breakfast and a bloody Mary, Breakfast was good, Bloody Mary Awesome. Everyone super friendly, looking to join Sons of Legion. read more

This is an amazing place! The volunteers that staff this place are all so friendly and very accommodating. They are always doing something to support and help or local community. The American Legion Post 258 in Alpine is a great place to visit. Fellow veterans can enjoy special events such as competitions, parties, outdoor fun and poker nights. The conversations are great. As a fellow veteran, I feel at home when I am at the Post. The food is awesome and inexpensive. Friday night is open mic night and it is incredible. I didn't find this post friendly at all. I walked in with a 'hello, how is it going' and was planning to use the restroom first before I inquired about membership and get some info about this post. I simply wanted to kill some time waiting for my children to finish their activities down the road so I figured, what better place to find some nice people? As I was walking past the bar everyone stopped mid conversation and turned to stare at me. I heard someone say "I don't know who that is." Followed by "I don't either" in succession as everyone in the place 'here here'd' making me feel extremely awkward. I just turned around and walked out and received not one good bye, have a nice day, who are you, what do you want..... I quietly sat out front and two people left the bar, walked right past me without a word and hopped right into their car and left. It's a shame really....my father fought in 3 world wars, retired a Commander of the US Navy after 33 years of service and was laid to rest with a full honor guard. Hard to believe they tend to Veterans here and didn't even have the courtesy to say hello to the daughter of a Vet who spent half of his years serving the military, living in this very community..... 10 minutes after sitting outside alone feeling like an out of place high schooler with bullies whispering behind my back, 1 woman came outside to smoke a cigarette I presume and introduced herself and said hello on her way back in. Thanks but no thanks.....I'll stick to the post that honored my father, our community and the people in it! Besides.....it was 98 degrees inside! Yuck!! read more
