They're friendly and knowledgeable, handling all my needs, both repair and maintenance. They know their fireplaces, and that's reassuring not only for service, but especially for health and safety. Not sure how I feel about this company. Janie was our main communication source but it was a team of two guys that came in to do the work. Two things of note: 1) they attempted to use a canister vacuum to suck out the ash in the fireplace but the vacuum was either defective or filthy because when they turned it on, a cloud of ash and dust was expelled to settle on my new furniture, television, and rug. WTF? I had to get their attention to turn it off at which point they took the vacuum outside, worked on it for 10 minutes, and brought it back in to try again. Same result! So they resorted to "hand cleanup". 2) they were done in 25 minutes. this included going on the roof to inspect the chimney, running a cleaner up the flue to scrape the creosote off, and writing up the invoice. I've had chimney sweeps before and they've all taken well over an hour to get the job done. I'm not saying that Alpine didn't do a good job but I am concerned that it wasn't a THOROUGH job based upon the speed in which it was finished. my bill was $214 which amounts to about $400 an hour for the work. lastly, I paid with a credit card and wrote the card number and my phone number on the invoice for them. Much to my surprise, two days later they said the credit card number didn't work and that my phone number was disconnected. I know both numbers were accurate. I would be hesitant to use the service in the future. Again, this is an honest review and I'm not saying that the company is bad but that I don't have full confidence in their abilities. read more
