Wow, first to review this popular burger stand in Hoquiam. I thought everyone stopped here on their way to Ocean Shores... they have THE best shakes. The burgers and fries are greasy, greasy, greasy and yummy yummy yummy!!! Downside is it's wayyyyyy over priced, and as it's a drive in.. nowhere to sit except a few picnic tables outside by the river. (Remember this is Grays Harbor and 90% of the time the weather is damp and dismal) The shakes are A+!!! And the staff is cheerful :) Peanut Butter Chocolate Milkshakes make me happy :) read more

A great homemade alternative to fast food joints. the chicken strips, burgers and shrimp baskets are always fresh made and great tasting. there is no indoor seating- this is fast food on the go, ladies and gents. you go in and order, and wait in your car in the small parking lot- they wave out the windows at you when your food is done, and you go get it. then you can sit at one of the picnic tables if it is a nice day, walk the river nearby, eat in your car, or take it all home. Their shakes are phenomenal-scratch made! try a peanut butter banana shake or blackberry, those are my favorites. read more

I was just watching the travel channel. It was around best eats around the country. Well it made me think of the Hum Dinger. I grew up in the Hoquiam area but moved away in 96. I remember flocking to the dinger on school days with friends. They make the best milkshakes, fries and cheeseburgers. I just love this place and need to make a special trip back down that way just to hit the Hum Dinger and the Harboreena!! read more

I recently went back and I was a little disappointed; I remember having great food here. I still love the fries and shakes and will continue to get those but the hamburger made me sad. All the toppings are great but the patty was small. It was similar to the frozen patties you find at McDonald's. Also, depending on the staffing, there could be some attitude. Ive called in and received a less than enthusiastic greeting and order placing. I didn't feel that the food that I received was worth the cost. I could easily go five minutes down the road and get hand made patties for about the same price or go to a fast food joint and pay less. But I like to support local mom and pop eateries. read more

First off I should say this business has been around for more then 50 years and I had my very first hamburger there when I was about 3-4 years old my dad had to smash it for me to get it in my mouth and it was the starting of a life long love of hamburgers. It also was the place I went to get my grandmother her last hamburger and milkshake. I no longer live in Hoquiam but I was raised there and the hum dinger was the only place I would eat if it was my choice to pick the place to eat. If a place can be open that long its well worth the time and trouble it takes to eat there! read more

I'm not a big burger eater...too fattening and all that.....but I LOVE these burgers! Just writing about it now makes me want to make the 1 1/2 hour trip to go get one (which we have done!) I love the ocean and go every chance I get. Part of the reason is we get to stop at Humdingers! My boys, who are burger aficionados, love these and i think they look forward to getting to stop at Humdingers as much as hanging out at the beach! The extreme goodness of these burgers is hard to explain. The bun is crispy around the edges, the bacon is perfect and not greasy, just the right amount of messy to enjoy licking your fingers! Their shakes are awesome and they can pretty much make any kind you want. Fries are excellent! Make sure you get 2 fry sauces when you order, it's to die for! I've never ordered anything else off the menu but the bacon cheeseburger (because I don't want to miss out on one when I have the chance to get one) so I can't testify to how good the rest of the menu is, but I think these are the best burgers anywhere in Washington! The service is fantastic and I LOVE the ladies who work there. Ive been there so much with my boys that she recognizes us now and remembers what we order! It can get kinda busy so I try to go a little before or after the lunch rush, but I would have no problem waiting if I had to. There is no indoor seating, but it's fun to eat in the car kinda like we did as small kids at the drive in. There are a few picnic tables if the weather is nice and it's right on the river so it's nice when you can do that. Some have said its a little dive-ish, and I agree, but that is part of its charm! I love that they knock on the window to let you know your order is ready. I would hate it if they remodeled the building or moved!
