Absolutely beautiful for anyone who has a love for interior/exterior and architecture. Beautiful white homes throughout the streets take me back to memories of Greece. The beach is stunning with white sand and light colored waters, if your lucky to hit the day when the waters are still to Lounge. Lots of little places to eat, and get coffee, wondering the neighborhood and exploring the stunning streets. There are signs that you are not allowed to take photographs which is a shame for travelers but understandable if I lived there I'd want the same curiosity. Your definitely paying premium but we found lots of places that offered great prices on food and drinks, but once your on vacation it's ok to splurge a little. I can't wait to be back here again, to enjoy alys beach and rosemary beach which is a short 5 min drive. Very family friendly, quiet and relaxing. read more

Watch out for Alys Beach Ticket Patrol. Beautiful place to stay but I received an unlawful parking ticket saying I was incorrectly parked when I was parked perfectly fine. The gentlemen took pics from a certain angle to make my car look like it was parked further back than depicted. I tried to fight it with all the pics of my car but the online portal would not let me dispute it. I used to go there all the time but now I will Avoid Alys Beach. I don't have time to deal with unjust enforcers. read more

I love this area! It is definitely one of my favorite beaches to visit. We had rented this great house right near Alys Beach, and had access to the private area of the beach. You'd easily miss this entrance to the beach, because it's so secluded. The weather was perfect all weekend, and the water was cool, but not frigid by any means. The area is so charming, peaceful, and it wasn't crazy crowded yet because school's still in. They are doing tons and tons of building, so be on the lookout for new places to stay and to eat and shop. It's so immaculate here, very clean, picturesque, perfect for de-stressing. My daughter absolutely loves coming here, and a lot of my friends had never been and fell in love with the area. It's very biker/walker/runner friendly. The place we stayed had four bikes on property, so my boyfriend and I biked every morning for miles, because it stretches out quite a ways in both directions from the house. Easy to get some exercise in without needing the gym. Six hour drive from Atlanta. I don't know if I should be telling people this, because in the summers it can be extremely crowded. I'd advise to book as far in advance as you can. The place we stayed at was booked for the entire summer already. I know lots of people head to Destin, and not saying that's not a nice beach, but my heart belongs to this area. read more

Yes yes and Yes. For the 95% of everything I had experienced.. I say Hell Yes! Located in South Walton Florida, Alys Beach is a small beach with a resort or two built along the beachfront. It was beautiful. I mean, just fantastic. Everything from the architecture, to the laid back vibe of most of the town, it was a spectacular experience that I recommend but almost don't want to mention because I want it to be my little secret. Lol.. The people, the locals, and the service staff at the areas around Alys Beach were all great. Really cool people, a nice vacation atmosphere with a great bit of Southern Charm thrown in. Alys beach is about 25 minutes from the Northwest Florida Beaches International Airport.. an expensive cab ride btw.. I would recommenced a rental or have someone pick you up. There are restaurants, coffee shops, and plentyt of places to just relax. If you ever get a cghance for a lazy, chill vacation with style.. this could be your spot! read more

We rented a house here. It's dated and dark, not pristinely kept, and weirdly laid out. Any hotel in this price range (and far lower) would have excellent linens, daily housekeeping, a concierge for recommendations... These sheets are awful and itchy and the beds are uncomfortable, pillow is breaking my neck. They charge the guests for chairs on the beach - when we're paying $2,000/night! It's dumb. The community is lovely though it feels fake, Disney-like, but sweet with so many families and kids happily riding around on bikes in this little idyllic spot. Nothing much to venture out to for us. There's just a mismatch on value because this does not stack up for the price we're paying and the house we got was notably misrepresented online so we feel majorly ripped off. read more

I don't know why they fee the need to continue to develop 30A (whoever made those stupid stickers should be arrested for their part in ruining this beautiful piece of the world). There are about a dozen other areas in the area that won't require you to walk through acres of overpriced shops and house rentals. A scary and kinda fascist version of Seaside. The development aims to construct beautiful high-end homes out of quality materials but the aesthetic is so sterile as to make it impossible to imagine real people living there, although apparently a few people do. Over priced ripoff. We were forced to spend a week here because my sons fiancé decided this is where she wanted to get Married. This is the worst tourist trap in Florida. Very disappointed in guest services. As a new homeowner, I was treated disrespectfully and unprofessionally. I asked for a manager and another staff member misrepresented themselves as the department manager of Amenities services and he was not. I am listing the house. I have no desire live in this neighborhood. Don't waste your money. Neighbors entered our private gated driveway and wandered into our pool area. Random people wander into the neighborhood and take photos of themselves on your personal front door steps. Sales office misrepresented the usage of the Beach Club. Dinner at the Beach club was overpriced and salty. Wait staff never asked why we didn't eat our food. Big case of bait and switch. Don't spend your money on Alys Beach. read more

We anticipated an Antigua address when we first saw an advertisement for Alys Beach in Garden & Gun magazine. Shocking to discover its South Walton Beach Florida location. You feel as if you've been transported to another time and place. To maximize the experience, stay on the Alys Beach property. The Mediterranean layout and adjoining courtyards will immediately put you at ease. Park the car and walk or bike throughout the town. While no nightlife exists, food and drinks are readily available. Find your name attached to the chairs and umbrella on the beach. Timeless yet modern, refreshing simplicity. Enjoying poolside drinks and appetizers while laying in the hammock was a highlight until half of the fifth star was stolen by a pack of wild children running / screaming around the pool while their parents continued to enjoy the aforementioned poolside drinks. The other half of the star was eaten by the children taking up the poolside bar stools ordering cheeseburgers for lunch. To further illustrate the point, the children were offered an array of cheese selections for their burger and one simply commanded "Just give us the orange kind." None of my research prepared me for the abundance of children here. Despite the Truman Show / Pleasantville undertones, Alys Beach is a hidden gem and definitely worth a visit. read more

This is a very nice area, and it seems like it may be somewhat of a playground for the rich and famous. I love the Spanish/Greek architecture here, and I never would have expected that type of influence in such a random area. The beaches here are also very beautiful, and the water is crystal clear. Alys Beach is our favorite vacation destination! The vacation homes are amazing with luxurious decor, private loggias and courtyard pools. The Caliza Pool complex is the most beautiful retreat I've ever experienced with infinity edge salt water pool, private cabanas, palm tree beds, hammocks and hot tub area lined with Italian Cypress trees. The Caliza restaurant and bar offers lunch and dinner menu and poolside dining. The food and service are excellent. We love brining our kids here every year for a quiet relaxing week! We take nature walks, ride bikes, spend afternoons at the beach and enjoy the beauty of this 30A community. read more

It's a beautiful beach but the area is really under-developed. Give it a few more years and let it develop prior to booking your trip. I recommend Rosemary Beach which is just next door. Prices are comparable and Rosemary offers all the amenities without having to drive anywhere. read more

Tourists Beware....they are apparently cracking down on ppl taking pictures here ---even with iphones! Yes IPHONES!!! A security guard informed me oh so unpolitely photography of any kind here is apparently BANNED now, even though they have NO signs up saying no photography. I took a couple of quick photos of my son today with my iphone and was immediately asked by a security guard to LEAVE! If i didnt leave i was told that they would call the police... because it is an invasion of privacy to ppl who live here...I mean REALLY ?!, for a couple of iphone pictures on a PUBLIC sidewalk of my toddler???? They no longer welcome tourists here. If they are going to be this hostile towards tourists they need to gate the whole place off or charge for photography tours or something...they at least need to put up NO PHOTO signs !!!! i WILL NOT be back! read more

The facilities at Alys Beach are beautiful. The homes are beautifully decorated but I was disheartened to find that my laptop which I inadvertently left in the night table drawer when we left, was somehow nowhere to be found. I called Alys Beach when I returned home to report that I left my laptop and asked if they would FedEx it to me. After a few hours I received a call that my laptop was nowhere to be found. When I asked who had access to the locked house, I was told only housekeeping. Because of my experience I cannot ever recommend Alys Beach. read more

Alys Beach is absolutely a diamond in the rough. I used to travel to Panama City Beach and the Ft. Walton Beaches as a child back in the 90's and early 2000's so I was nervous that I was returning to old condo high-rises and seafood shacks; however, I was completely blown away at what Alys Beach has done. It is about a mile long of a planned community and absolutely the developers haven't missed one detail. While Rosemary, Watercolor and Seaside are fantastic, they can be very cramped and busy-- Alys Beach is serene, beautiful and a break from it all. It was a quick drive down from Atlanta and immediately upon arrival, the service was awesome. Even before we arrived, I received a personal call from the rental office to welcome us and see when they could expect us to arrive so they would be prepared. Our room was perfectly prepared (we rented just a one bedroom villa for the week) with light music playing upon arrival, fully stocked snacks and water, a great complimentary beach bag and complimentary beach towels. The representative personally showed us to our room and gave us a tour of the condo and it's amenities. The villa was so close to everything - pool, fitness center, adorable food trucks, coffee house and of course, the beach. The community really makes you think that you are in Greece and every last bit of design is perfect. The beach is private and much quieter than the surrounding beaches and of course, the water is crystal clear and beaches very white. The pool is just heaven and again, great service. For guests, the property offers fun wine tastings on Tuesday for $10 (highly recommend with live music) and a guest reception with complimentary beer and wine on Wednesday evenings. The rental office called us each day to invite us to different happenings and see if our stay was going well. This is just a wonderful place and we have already planned our stay next May and will be bringing friends along so they can enjoy it, as well. read more
