I stayed here for four nights when I visited Halle for a conference. The hotel is centrally located…read moreand about a four-five minute walk to the marketplace. The ambience of the room is a real strength. There is a free breakfast included. It's rather modest but sufficient. The staff was mostly friendly and English was sufficient. The downsides included no AC and this is a big deal when it is hot, as it was during my stay. The windows do not open much. I had a fan which saved me a bit, but some rooms do not even have that. The other major downside is that Wi-Fi can be really tricky to connect to if you have an Apple device. I would get connected and then a few hours later I would try to open something I would get a message "not connected to internet." When I navigated to the login page and entered my login information I got a message that said "access denied" because I was already logged in. So it was a circle. The only way to manage the odd system was to turn off the device, say overnight, and then login fresh the next day. Overall, I enjoyed my stay at Ankerhof and would stay there again.

The Apart Hotel is nice, the only thing that really creeped me out about the place was the numerous…read moremannequins dressed as different characters from theater plays strewn about the hotel's interior. The staff was very kind and welcoming and made for a pleasurable stay. There's a small bar on the ground level that is nice at night time, but is situated directly next to a smoky outdoor room so the constant wafting of smoky air filled our nostrils as we drank tasty German beer and sipped Ramazotti. The bartender was nice, but obviously busy with room orders. So if you want the typical American bar service where they are very attentive, you might be disappointed. But this is true for most bars in Germany, I have found. On that same level, they serve breakfast every morning. It's a generous spread of various cured meats, cheeses, bread, cereal, juice & milk. The room was somewhat modest but very clean and tidy. The view was pretty & the area quiet and peaceful. The pricing was also very affordable as well. If I ever venture back this way in Germany, I will definitely return!

In contrast the breakfast buffet is a good deal with fresh fruit, juice, cold-cuts, breads, eggs and breads. Staff is friendly and the hotel is walking distance from the train station and old city center. Design choices by owners reveal a stunning lack of familiarity with the expectations of experienced travellers. Happiest will be budget travellers intending to spend their waking hours elsewhere.

Let's start with the positives: central location in the city center, close to the main railway station just one stop by tram. Check in is quick. The showers are good. The place itself is fairly run down. It begins in the elevator, extends through the hallways all the way into the room. Floors, wash rooms, walls closets are not clean. Rooms are only cleaned and towels changed upon request "to project the environment" and that shows. Few power outlets. No fridge. No iron. No coffee maker. Not even a bottle of water. And you may not use the coffee machine in the lobby either. Even the cheapest motel has free coffee these days. And for all that, you pay a steep price. Any Best Western is better euqipped and maintained. I would not stay here again.
Great hotel, centrally located and very modern looking!…read more Very clean with a few minor flaws. 1. Front desk lady was a bot rode, she asked me to sign the checkin papers & I picked up a pen over the counter but she grabbed it out of hands! Yes, grabbed out of my hands saying that it's her personal pen! OK, I under stand some OCD special needs but to physically grab a pen out of guest hands is unacceptable. It would have been 5 stars but I took one star away due to her rudeness. Other than that, the hotel is perfect.
