I wish I could give AM Studio negative stars. What a scam they have going on. We signed up at a mall and were told we got 10 poses and would be allowed to pick which pose/photo we wanted at pick up time. Got charged for the photo in advance and then charge an additional $10 day of photos (photographer fee). Comes pick up day the guy there is trying to give us the worst pose and tells us thats the photo we paid for we don't get to choose and if we want the other poses we have pay $35 each. What a fuckin joke! Tries to tell me it was on my "receipt". My receipt was a piece of paper with the date and time of photo! After I ask to see the other poses he places them facing down not allowing me to see them! Wont even let me touch them! The guy starts giving me attitude so I call my husband to come and deal with him and then the guy goes back to being rude over photos. We ask for corporate number and asked for the photos to be ripped up since we dont want this company using our daughters photos for advertisement. EDIT: After leaving a voicemail for corporate and my yelp review, I did receive a call back next day. I really appreciated this as I was able to disclose my concerns with how their representatives miscommunicate information in order to get people to sign up. I now see their promotions online and you are paying for first pose but this was not communicated at the time we signed up I recommend to go straight to their website and read what you're signing up for vs taking the sales representative word for granted. Anyways, I was able to get the pose I wanted of my daughter and can now frame it at home. The quality of the photos are okay. A bit pixilated which is why im giving them 4/5 stars. We scheduled an appointment for 12/27/19 weeks before the event. We arrived 10 minutes early and were met with a 45 minute wait time (past our designated time). The two young ladies were doing their best and said the scheduling system double-booked all appointments for that morning. An hour and a half past our slotted time, we were finally taken back for photos. We walked out 2 hours past our appointment. Very poor customer service by the owner since we received a reminder one hour prior to our appointment time which should have informed us they were running late. Once they get you in the back and show the prices for any add-ons, look out!! Very expensive!! Never use them again. read more

I've done the cheap "19 Photos for $20" deal before with another company about 5 years ago. The previous company sat me down to allow me to pick my favorite photo taken to be printed for the deal. This company DOES NOT allow you to choose, as others have stated. My next issue is when we were about to leave the photography session they handed me my time slot/date to pick up the pictures. They didn't care if I waa available that day/ time. If I didn't show up to THAT appointment made for me I would not receive my photos I had already paid for. People have lives, and those pictures are not a priority. Good customer service would to be to work with me and try to change the time, even if it is still the same day 3rd Issue is They told me additional pictures would be available at pickup. Awesome! Thinking "Maybe I could pay an extra $20 for another set. Possibly those ones of just my husband and me..." Well I was wrong. They laid all printed photos in front of me and said "Normally the disc (digital copy) is $300. Today we have a deal for $249 plus all these prints here for $30, so your total will be $279!" My thinking: "WOW! All those extra prints for only $10 more than the extra $20 I was thinking I might spend! What a score!" I went forward letting the salesperson know I would like all the prints, but no disc. She takes my card, it scans, then I'm handed the tablet to sign...that's when I see I was just charged $228. I stopped immediately before signing and said "Oh, no, I only wanted the prints." The lady said "Yes, $228 for the prints." I asked if I can cancel that transaction and just pick the specific extra prints I wanted, thinking I hadn't signed, so it wasn't a done deal. Wrong. She said "It scanned your card, there is no going back now. Those prints are yours. We don't issue refunds either" My heart sank. That is half a month of groceries or more than a month of gasoline or 1/4 my rent or my utility bill. Just gone. All for BLURRY pictures. She never even clarified if I would have been able to pick specific pictures to purchase extra or if it was only as a package. My issue was avoidable. Have a sheet of all options and pricing written out with no confusion. Package A1. Digital copy + Prints $300 A2. Prints Only $225 It's that easy. I almost feel majorly scammed, but the lady was kind and probably was mispoken/ had a lot on her mind. Never again, AM Studios. **Coming back a day or two later to update that when sat side by side to other professional photos I've had taken, it's even clearer how blurry the AM Photos are. The photos from the other company were so clear you could see individual hairs in the head. These are about as clear as pictures from the 90's. Also, when they printed the pictures, the smaller sizes are larger than an average frame by about 1/2" on each side. Now I have to cut each picture to fit a frame. The 8×10 and 10×13 pictures are the only ones I had to cut about 1/4" off on 1 side. Without cutting the picture was bubbled inside and wrinkled. read more

My sister bought the infamous $20 limited package at the mall, it is for a few prints of 1 pose just FYI. My family had to reschedule 3 times due to our own conflicting priorities, this studio was more than happy to accommodate. Upon arriving we were immediately greeted, checked in and taken to the "private" waiting room. We were impressed with the studio, it was spacious, clean, tastefully decorated with a lot of different props and professional equipment. The photographer did such an amazing job coordinating everybody and was soooo patient with my anxious, attention deficit fur babies. I gave her a tip on how to keep their attention with a squeaky toy, they had one on hand and it worked like a charm! The poses they put my family in and photo quality came out beautiful. We had sticker shock when they told us the package prices. It IS pricey but we felt like it was worth it. This was our first professional family photoshoot in seriously like, 15 years, and to have my dogs in it meant a lot. So we bought the digital copy package for all the photos and if you want in the future, you can purchase prints from 50 cents - $1 through them OR go to Walgreens etc. We received a link to the photo album in 3 days. We were happy with the whole experience, I recommend. read more

Insanely overpriced for mediocre photos. My cell phone takes better pics than what were taken. Had to get reprints not once but twice because some photos were very washed out. And the worst part was I was lied to about pricing. 400 dollars on pictures is ridiculous! 300 just for digital copies and 100 dollars a few prints. Very pushy on purchasing canvases and no visual pricing. It was all written on paper as if making it up. Never again. Would not reccomend. We went to this location after my wife bought into their 20$ special. Just so were clear, the prices for any service were not posted anywhere. After the photo session, we reviewed the photos. This wrapped up with a summary of the actual prices for several packages. The top tier was $650 all the down to the modest $275 basic package. This i feel was way out of line for the experience as a whole. After all of the work we put into getting our kids ready for xmas photos was in vain one we got the actual cost of the deal. Perhaps hundreds of dollars is ok for some, but for us it was a shock. Lesson learned, get the prices up front. read more

This place is a joke. They sucker you in when you are shopping in the mall by offering an ok package deal. You pay $20 up front and schedule an appointment, $10 due at sitting. In our case the salesman promised we could reschedule after checking with the other members of our group, but when we called that was not the case. We were told because it was a pop up that that would be the last day at that location. We arrived on time to our appointment, but had to wait over a half hour with 4 kids 8 years old and under. The sitting seemed to go alright, thought it was a bit rushed. We picked up our photos today (also no chance to reschedule, again their "last day"). I wouldn't go as far as to call them professional, but the one we got for the package was alright. The photographer should of done a much better job at posing and positioning. We opted to buy one other sheet for $25 because it was very much not worth the asking price for the whole package, even after he dropped it when we declined the first time. He didn't even try to hide how upset he was that we didn't buy it. He displayed poor and shameful customer service. To top it all off, as we left we passed the stand where we bought this junk and they were still selling the sucker packages! A ghetto experience all the way around. Lesson learned. read more

I am appalled at the lack of care and professionalism. I got pictures done of my daughter and I at one of their traveling studios. I should have known upon making the appointment. First, their salesmen bug people at the mall to schedule the appointment and claim it's $19.99. It's not. I paid another sitting fee at the appointment of $10.00. I wasn't particularly mad at this, until I got the pictures. I wasn't allowed to view the pictures right after they were taken and I did not get to pick the print I wanted. I had asked for a specific pose for my package and they took the picture, but I still did not get this pose in the package I paid for! The photographer also stood really far away when taking the pictures. I've had pictures taken before and I know cameras have zoom features, but it was an odd photo shoot. On the pickup day, I was not the only person there and everyone that left seemed to be very angry. When speaking with one of their workers, she offered me all of these packages costing anywhere from $25 for one single print to $690 for a package with all prints, digital copy, and canvases. The prices were not mentioned up front and I am extremely disappointed in the quality of the photos. All of the photos were awful. I could've and have taken better photos with my cellphone. If I could give them no stars, I would. It's a complete scam and a poorly run business. The biggest waste of $29.99 I have ever found. read more

We bought a family portrait package at our local HEB in Austin. A young man stopped us and signed us up and I think we paid $20 or $30 for a package. We then went back to the same HEB where a young lady took our photos. She seemed to be very confident, professional and friendly. We waited about two more weeks and then met with another lady at the same HEB to pick up our photos. I was pleasantly surprised at the high quality of the photos and they were some of the best pics we've ever taken. Of course, I understood that we were only getting the one pose package for the initial low price and we ended up spending maybe an additional $120 (the only drawback being that they were a bit more expensive than I expected), but I did get several outstanding professional portraits for it. Overall, a very good experience and I will use them again in the future. read more

We had an experience in 2015 of December. The reason for my late review is cause of my complaint filed early 2016, we had horrible customer service for their on the road session in Farmington, NM. We had an immediate response from Customer Service into the matter. I replied to their offer of a gift certificate, I thought, maybe my in laws will use it. We moved last year. My family never got the certificate, but most importantly, we never got any more follow up and response to our complaint. That is what is upsetting. My family should have been treated respectfully and the matter should have been treated seriously. read more

Ugh, where do I start. For starters, the only reason this got two stars is because the photographer was GREAT with my one month old. We got the $20 "limited" package from a kiosk at the local mall- which after some research I see that it is NOT so "limited"; especially since I just read that y'all are coming back into town. The lady was so nice and told us about this great package and gave me the impression that the pose of the sample is the pose I'd get my photos in. Fast forward to pickup day. I arrive to the hotel to pick up photos and the nice lady shows me all the a la catré poses which were AMAZING! Then she pulls out the ones that we've paid for and they are literally the plainest pose of them all. Can't even see my daughters full Christmas outfit. These was supposed to be special; her first "professional" shoot and I am very disappointed. I mean of course my daughter looks beautiful, but the pose was not the best. I know you're trying to make money; but make sure you have the people at the kiosk not set our expectstions too high. Will not recommend this agency to anyone. As a matter in fact, we didn't return for our family portrait after this. What a waste of $50. read more

One star is too much for this place...My husband and our 5 kids came in to do our session on 7/15. I've got to say that was the worst experience I have ever had. The photographer was completely awkward, weird, and continued to say inappropriate things. Not sure if he thought he was being funny, but it was not funny. His energy was so bad. He would take pictures and just shake his head. What does that mean? Was it good was it bad, do we need to smile more, do something different?? It was horrible. Even our 7 year old thought it was bad and didnt understand what this guy wanted us to do. The lighting was awful in some of our shots. And his skills are clearly off as told by our pictures. Teach your people some diversity training and courtesy on how to deal with people appropriately without sounding like a complete idiot. Oh, and the funniest part... you take pictures on a digital camera but it will take 4 weeks to print these awful things?! But that came AFTER the ridiculously bad sales pitch and that somehow the price of almost $600 was a bargain! Hilarious. Worst thing ever. Would never even think of recommending this place to anyone. I signed up at the mall to have pictures done here. It was 20 bucks for a nice size package. The actual photographer was nice but I was shocked by the other items they were selling. For example hundreds of dollars for canvas prints that could be purchased online for under 50. I was also disappointed to find out the prints needed to be picked up a few days later, I didn't know they don't print them there like other studios. DISAPPOINTED! FILTER PHOTOGRAPHY! I took them up on their promotion out of the Flat Irons Mall. $30 for a package of pictures. The $30 is for one pose only, keep in mind the pose chosen is the very first picture they snap. You can choose other poses for $25 per sheet. Also please note that the background you pick is only applied to that very first picture, none of the others. I picked up my pictures and was appalled! They applied a "beauty box" filter to my 1 year old daughters pictures! She was unrecognizable! They looked NOTHING like her. Why would you apply a beauty box filter to a baby's photo??? She's not an acne prone 13 yr old! After writing a complaint to the studio, they did allow me to choose a different picture, unedited. I'm still writing a negative review because of the filter situation, great photography doesn't happen w/using a filter. read more

Well I went with my 3 children to take pictures and had a good experience with the photographer, when it came to picking up was another story. The pricing is ridiculous. First off they offered me a digital package for close to 300$ and slowly went down to 120 for different packages. When i respectfully denied, the sales lady responded "what you dont like?" Of course I liked them but as a single mother of 3 spending that on pictures hurts my pocket. I wanted only 3 additional pictures and they wanted to charge me 25$ per picture which would have come to 75$. She then came at me with a 117$ offer for 8 pages. I asked can se do anything a little less, and no. Well Monday morning i come to work and a coworker of mine had taken pictures with them the same day. They gave them portraits for free, becasue they refused to buy any, but if they wrote a review they would get free extras. I was hurt with the business they run, and I dont think it is fair that they pick and choose who they will give better business to. If I could i would return it all and go through a loyal company. Quality over quantity should be the priority. read more

I was at the Greeley mall one day, mid-November. They have a kiosk in the middle of the aisle and they stopped me, pitching me their sale and I told them no because I don't have kids or family ... and then it stopped me in my own tracks when I said "kids/family" and thought of bringing my own fur babies (cat & a dog)who are my only "kids" and thought I really need a family photo as I don't have one of us three as a family. At first they told me for 19 photos for $20 plus another $10 for the sitting/walk-in fee. I was understood 19 photos MEANING 19 different poses to choose from - nope! There was a discrepancy they didn't tell me - while putting me through high pressure and no time with this entire experience, I learned that these people ARE scammers! Don't get that confused people - they charge you ONE SINGLE POSE for 30.00 freakin dollars! And their photos are not great quality for such high price for a single photo! It's almost been a month and I STILL have not received my picture in the mail! And that's not even the rest of the story... but I'll stop here - AM Studios are scammers! read more

We booked our appointment online and got an email confirmation. When we saw that we booked Sunday instead of Saturday, we called to see if it would be possible to reschedule. The studio manager, Miranda, said she did not see us on the schedule at all. She stated that Saturday was booked, but that we could keep our original appointment time for Sunday. I made sure to clarify with her whether or not we would need to book a different time since she explained that the new scheduling system did not work correctly. She insisted that we could come in during our original appointment time that upcoming Sunday. When we arrived, the people working could not find us on the schedule. They found the email and stated they would honor the appointment time. We had 5-6 other people pass in front of us when we asked if we could just get a refund. They said we could not and stated that we were next. After waiting about 2 hours, we had our photos taken in 15 minutes, when we were guaranteed a 30 min slot from our online booking. We asked the lady taking our photos to try to highlight my new engagement ring, but she kept making us do poses where the ring was on the wrong side and not emphasized. When I would ask to switch sides, she said it looked better that way and went on taking the photos. $200 later for the digital package we booked online, we are very unhappy with both the photos and the experience. There were other people in there also angry about the excessive wait time. Some had children, etc. They did not compensate us for our time, the mistakes, or the poor quality photos. I recommend staying away. You would get better pictures for cheaper at JC Penny. read more

Not only was my session 52 minutes late but the employee was rude when I informed her I was the 1st appointment of the day and the business was still locked. I started leaving messages at 10 minutes after the scheduled time to just sit in a hall with 13 people waiting to take pictures. Then when I didn't want to purchase $640 in pictures because of the attitude of the photographer, your employee attempted to lay a guilt trip on "how much extra effort she put into my daughters Sweet 16 Session"...that effort was absent and it's because of her attitude that no purchase from your studio was made (except the $20 per paid Package). Instead I will take my same group of 13 to another photographer and spend my money with that photographer. read more

This company is a scam!!!! The salesman in the mall made it seem like the photos would be affordable but would never quote an actual price for a package (like a normal studio would). Claimed they would review packages and prices after our shoot, then we paid $20 for the appointment and 1 set of photos. The actual shoot wasn't horrible (paid $10 prior to shoot) but lady was NOT good with children. Prior to leaving the told us when and where to pick our pictures up and would not tell us ANY PRICING OR PACKAGING. Fast forward to today and my fiancé goes to pick up the pictures and she gets sat down and has a sales pitch jammed down her throat. You can only select 1 pose and u get 1 10x13 & 16 wallets (covered by what you have already paid). And here is where it get outrageous. For ONE additional pose (only 1 photo) an additional $26.75! For access to the additional 6 poses they want $250 JUST for the dvd and $100 more to print anything obviously the more u print the more you pay! Also they do not ever notify you nor do they ask your permission to use YOUR FAMILY PHOTOS as advertisements and "claim" all rights to them! read more

I recently did portraits through Andrae Michaels as they traveled through Eau Claire WI. I wanted to let you know how disappointed I was with the experience. I was sold up front saying that the purchase price would be $20. Then after I agreed, I was told it would be $10 more for a "sitting fee". Fine. But the real issue was that I was not allowed to pick out the photo for the $30 promotion. Of all the photos in the set, the one picked out for us was the worst possible one. It was just a bad photo. The other ones were good, but when discussing options I was told that there was a set I could purchase for $200 and another one for $300. What an awful position to be put in. When I thought back on the whole experience, it seemed that I was not told information at every step that could have informed future decisions. But this information was available, it was just purposely left out. And why not let me pick the photo that was used in the promotion? Wow, what a disgusting experience. Absolutely awful! They bait and switch. The pictures they chose had shadows over one child's face. The sizes aren't accurate unless wallets have shrunk and wallet size pictures are now 1 ¾ x 2 1/2. They save the better shots for the $25/print cost. My birthday surprise was definitely a surprise. Please don't buy their initial promotion. You pay an initial fee. Then show up and have to pay a $10 sitting fee. Then you wait a couple of weeks and they shock you with the poor quality picture. My kids are lovely, well-behaved subjects. My spouse tried to surprise me with what I wanted for my birthday and what we got was a headache. I cannot even bring myself to hang them up because they remind me of how awful this experience was. read more

These people are a joke and have no idea how they're in business. Those $20 dollar sessions they offer you in the malls, grocery stores, etc are exactly what you think they are. Cheap 10 minute sessions(if that) with cheap photographers who lug around cheap equipment. Typical 90's overblown softening effects, horrible portrait lighting and sephia tones. Perfect if you're 60+ years old and haven't come into the new era of photography. Might as well do the hair sprayed afro hair when you come in for a session. Their sales men are probably worse than car salesmen. All they want to do is get paid and sell you a product they never have to be there for. Go to an actual photographer if you want "studio portraits." read more
