Magnificent Haute Cuisine Vegetarian Restaurant in Palermo Soho.
They charge more than other vegetarian places in town.
They are completely worth it.
(And they are absolutely inexpensive by international standards.)
We had all sorts of dishes ...
But the two stars of the show were both grain dishes,
One a crispy black rice with walnuts and crunchy chickpeas
and the other a barley casserole with cabbage braised in beer, miso and capers.
The dishes look small but they are totally filling.
I have never had black rice like that in my life.
I wouldn't even know how to prepare that in my kitchen.
On barley, I am a barley casserole pro.
Their barley is way way way better than my barley.
Palermo is full of outstanding ice cream parlors -
But you still want to have your dessert at Amador Cantina.
How can you say no to 85% cacao chocolate mousse with coconut milk and almond pralines?
How can you say no to apple strudel with toffee sauce and almond vanilla cream?
If those dishes don't take you to a higher dessert place,
It may be because you are on happiness-sensory overload from all the other wonderful dishes.

P.S. Buenos Aires is very very good with vermouth drinks.
It is a great town to get a Negroni.
The Negronis at Amador Cantina will do you just fine, thank you very much.

If you haven't guessed already, you do not need to be a vegan or a vegetarian to be blown away by Amador Cantina.
But if you ARE vegan or vegetarian, you have just arrived at your special playground.
And you know, you really should not be eating T-Bone Steaks, Lamb Sweetbreads and French Fries every day without a break;
Even though in Argentina, you could actually do that, without repeating a restaurant for a month. read more
