Stopped in here today on our way to New Hope. We will definitely be coming back. The food was delicious and very reasonably priced. My mom said it was the best rueben sandwich she has ever had. The food was absolutely amazing. I had eggs Benedict and French toast. The staff were very nice and dog friendly. The outside feels cozy and the inside has a very mom and pop café feel. I didn't get a chance to try any of the pastries but I will be back soon to try them. I personally did not mind the wait time, but I will say that it was a bit longer wait time than the average café/breakfast place. Overall well worth the food/experience. read more

We lucked out by having a glorious day to sit outdoors in their garden. The servers were great and the sandwiches were, too. They lose a start because when I asked for water and iced tea I got both in bottles. I needed water, but was disappointed that they didn't bring out a glass of it. The food was edible. But they ran out of french fries, the waitress started to avoid looking us it took so long to get the food. And 40 mins after ordering she kept coming back with more questions about our meals. When the meal finally started to come out it was brought out one by one. The ambiance is cute, the menu looks good, and our waitress was very nice, but we waited nearly two hours for our food. Other tables actually left before their food came because the wait was so long (and there wasn't bread or anything provided to tide us over). I get that the restaurant is trying to find its footing, but they really need to consider cutting the number of tables or limiting their menu if patrons are continuously waiting this long. 2 hours for a pancake and a couple omelettes is ridiculous. During a drive after visiting the nearby Ringing Rocks I stopped by this cafe to grab a cup of coffee to go.  Once I was inside the unique decor and interesting menus helped to change my mind and I decided to stay to have a brunch meal instead.  It probably helped that (i presume) the owner was friendly and very welcoming.  I'm so glad that we did stay to eat because the experience was wonderful and well staffed with prompt service.   The pierogis were 100% homemade and very flavorful.  Our grilled sandwiches had wonderfully crispy bread which made for a great crunchy texture. The rest of our sandwiches was just as good.  Upon paying for my meal I grabbed a piece of crumb cake to take home, that was just as tasty as everything else we ordered.  I highly recommend this great cafe! read more

One tends to avoid writing negative reviews about restaurants with good servers, but we waited over 1.5 hours for a relatively simple brunch order on a busy Sunday. Several diners around us gave up and just left after an hour wait. While the servers were apologetic, the buck stops with the owner, who in this case, is Amanda. Amanda may have been shortstaffed, but she should have alerted patrons if so. Reading back over time a number of past reviews, it becomes clear that this problem isn't a new one. Not being able to accommodate diners, especially those with reservations, on a weekend, is a clear signal that Amanda needs to take a few courses in restaurant management. I felt bad for the servers, who did their best to deliver food to the table when it was ready - but an hour, 1.5 hours, 1.75 hours - say what? Parking at this restaurant on a busy day is also a nightmare. The parking spaces are directly off a busy, narrow road, and are not marked - so folks were trying to park in all sorts of places, blocking cars by double-parking, etc. Without demarcated parking space, folks tend to take more room than needed, and that was the case at Amandas. A simple fix, buy some concrete bumpers and some line paint and strike 18 foot long paint lines spaced 9' apart to define parking spaces. Not hard to do. Wont tick off the neighbors. Will avoid scrapes, dents, or worse considering how fast cars are driven on the adjoining road. So while the food, once it did arrive, was good, that will not be enough to convince us to return to Amandas anytime soon until they can get their act together - and maybe that's the way Amanda wants it: reduction in patron count through attrition. You won't find that strategy in any restaurant management course, however. read more

We came on a Sunday afternoon. They seemed to be very overwhelmed with the amount of customers they had even though it didn't seem to be that packed. We were sat promptly, but waited an hour to get our food. We ordered the hungry man and an omelet with cheddar, bacon, tomatoes and onions. The home fries were pretty yummy and well seasoned. Visited Ringing Rock's and strolled around Frenchtown, after browsing the area for good places on google maps Amanda's cafe had good ratings. The location is just off the road and SO cozy, we lucked out sitting outside in what looked like a little oasis. The food was delicious, portion size was great and very tasty. We ate the roast beef and meatloaf, both excellent. The raspberry crumb and chocolate crumb were very good as well, the personnel super sweet. Surprise on the River! We have come here several times since it has changed over to Amanda's. Mussels are tender and flavorful! I would put them up there as one of better mussels around! This isn't a serious restaurant. It lacks everything the old place had. This is a kitchen with a few very basic dishes executed poorly. Only two fountain beverage options. Sides are frozen french fries or ruffles chips from the bag. Two stars because the unknowledgeable, under-trained waitstaff was at least friendly. This place is really just someone in a kitchen skillet preparing chicken and piecing together sandwiches. Miss the old Kasey's on the Delaware. This place just isn't a real restaurant. We arrived around 11:40 am for late breakfast. My family sat down and ordered. Our first concern was that they didn't have drinkable tap water. Second the waitress called our teen son's friend, who is male a girl. Then, we waited and waited. Several tables were served food and they came 20 minutes after us. We inquired several times for our food. After we waited for 45 min, our waitress came back and told us that we would have to wait longer since our order accidentally was not put in. She told us we could leave with our bottle water. No apology. We left with no food. It was the strangest experience I have ever had at a restaurant. I recommend you stay away. read more

Would you pay $13.99 for a plate of soggy potatoes ?- some with black moldy bits in them (Ugh) with a few other ingredients lightly waved over the spuds? Thats the O'Brian breakfast for you! Waitress just shrugged her shoulders when we showed the moldy potatoes. (Worst breakfast I have had here - I was so hungry I ate most of the bland spuds) Omlette was fine however. This used to be our favorite go-too place when it was Kayceys on the Delaware. Since the new owners the prices have shot up dramatically and sadly quality and creativity has gone down. All the wonderful pies & cakes have disappeared. Just a few scones & cupcakes remain. The ambiance & outdoor garden seating are still wonderful. Service is friendly and helpful. We were there Sunday morning 6/26/22 with our puppy to kick off a day of covered bridge tours. I poked my head in to see if it was ok to sit with our dog in the outside area and the staff was very receptive and even had a bowl of water waiting at our table before we even sat down. Everything about this place was a good vibe including the other patrons. Food came out fast and hot and there was a lot of it. I think the prices are spot on considering how much you get, and it was excellent on top of it all. We will be back on a monthly if not weekly bases. read more

The plate my food came out on was cracked, and I asked multiple times for new silverware because mine was not cleaned properly. Awful stench that was overwhelming. after being seated right away and placing our order we sat there for over an hour waiting!! no one came to a check on us or offer coffee or anything- waitress did not know what she was doing! when we asked about our food we were told "it was coming". tables that came in after us got served and still we waited! we finally left after 1.25 hours of waiting only to be charged $6 for coffee and being told that our food "order only went in32 minutes ago!"... would NOT recommend and will NEVER be going back there... Went there today for breakfast (4 people sitting outside). Waited almost an hour and a half for our food. When I went inside to inquire what the problem was I was told the delay was due to a table of 8 putting in their order before us. They brought us a plate with some pieces of watermelon on it to try and appease us. When food finally came, one order was wrong (asked for a Benedict omelet without bacon). Instead of offering to correct it we were asked if we wanted an extra plate to put the bacon on. Also, they apparently dropped the toast because that order came with only a half slice of bread. We had to point that out and ask for the rest of the toast. (They brought us 1 slice of bread.) Despite all this, they offered nothing. Will not be returning. read more

Not good is not a fair statement .... terrible is more like it! Sunday morning drive along the river to enjoy breakfast at a outdoor restaurant on a beautiful morning .. sounds like a Hallmark movie until you find Amanda's Riverside Cafe and the horribly rude staff. Seven tables in the outside court yard , 3 have guest 3 have dirty dishes and 1 open table. Three young ladies waiting on tables but more like running around in circles " Who has this table?" " Was that your table? " "Is this your tip?" Finally , one comes over to take our drink order but we say we are ready to place our complete order. In 10 minutes she returns with our coffee and a bottle of purified water ( not even spring water ... I mention this because since I pay for the water it would be nice to have spring .) After 20 minutes the young lady states " we do not have everything for the Lumber Jack combo platter... I am a bit confused since it is eggs, pancakes and chipped cream beef and is a regular special on their menu. She said she does not know what is not available but she was told to tell us .. sorry, not available. I then order just a stack of pancakes . I request our coffee be refilled . She returns about 10 minutes later to refill our cups. The three other tables that are seated are watching this unfold and then start to notice that that they too have not gotten drinks, orders have not been taken and one poor guy is waiting to see his server since he needs more syrup. The staff was not visible in the court yard at all. It officially reached one hour since we had been seated and still no breakfast, server comes over with coffee pot and we asked how much longer and she has no clue since " we only have one cook ." I then requested the check for the coffee and we are leaving . She literally glares at my husband and I said " you don't understand ... we have nobody working!" She was correct , we do not understand because as our server she should have been better at communicating and trying to service us with what she can and should be able to do. A simple " Thank you for stopping in, I will place your order and I want to let you know we are a little short staffed today but sit back enjoy your morning and coffee." Since she was being so rude and obviously loud so the others could hear .. I too got a little loud and again requested our bill. She stormed off into the restaurant . My husband and I followed and went into pay ... as we walk in she has her back towards us from behind the counter and is preceding to tell a fellow server how rude we were and that we are leaving ..... Really!!!!! I confronted her by saying that " Really... and now you are in here talking about us? " She again said how we don't understand and that I should be having the conversation with the manager . My husband asked to speak the manager and she informed us that the manager who is also the owner is apparently the cook today since the cooked walked out. The manager is not available to come speak to us. Bottom line if a restaurant does not have the proper help than maybe you should not be open. Staffing is hard and even more so during these crazy times. The unfortunate major observation for them is to not have inexperience staff serving your customers. No supervision and guidance can really hurt a business. To have warm bodies just fill a position is not a good idea. To have a smart mouth and confrontational staff member is even worse!!!! It is not my desire to babysit a young server who obviously knows nothing about customer service. Sorry "Gabby " I think you have a lot to learn and are not someone who should be serving the public !!!!! In conclusion, the food in the past was always decent , the atmosphere and outside seating is the main attraction on a beautiful day however after todays experience I would suggest you drive right by ... there are plenty more places along the river that are doing it right and they do appreciate the business! read more
