Like the idea of a bar a few steps away from the 'silver screen'? Want a huge comfy seat to go with that popcorn? Step right up - get your tickets folks! This place gets two very enthusiastic thumbs up! There are about 20+ huge and incredibly comfortable seats in this private cinema. There's also popcorn and pelligrino to go with your ticket (or a cocktail if you prefer for a few euro more). And, the films shown are those cool classics of yesterday (like Dracula and Jaws)! You're even welcome to send recommendations to them for future films via Facebook! The cinema is in a great location too - steps from downtown Grafton Street! And, the hotel that holds this private gem is actually a nice spot to enjoy a pre- or post-film cocktail. (There's a comfortable lounge or you can grab a stool at the smaller bar which I prefer...) It's a cozy experience indeed. Get your prepaid tickets by calling or sending an email - and hurry as some films sell out...! See you at the movies!

The popcorn was served in a little cute box and you could pick your own drink off the table. Staff were great and the hotel looks nice. If there was one thing for me to fault and I'm probably being picky but it's that the website doesn't seem up to date with the amount of tickets available. When I tried to buy mine it said there were 6 available but I was put on a waiting list. Other than that the experience overall was fantastic and I would definitely go back!

I've been here a few times and each time, the staff have been really friendly. The screens themselves are a bit smaller so they're not overcrowded. They don't show many of the more mainstream films that I am generally interested in so I do tend to go to other cinemas more often but it's always a very enjoyable experience when I do get to visit!

They have a cafe at the entrance which is pretty nice - I've met friends there without even going into the cinema itself. They mostly show arty, less commercial films here, so you won't always find every new release. They do tend to show lots of older films, which is very cool. I recently went to a showing of Back to the Future, which was of course awesome on the big screen. They also hold lots of different film events (Kubrick Season, Tarantino Season, etc), premieres, Q&As with Directors after screenings and so on. The screens themselves are good, the seats are plush and roomy, one or two of the rooms have multicoloured seats which are very cool! Another cool little feature is that the Light House has its own bar, and you are permitted to bring your drinks with you into the movie.

On the very top floor you'll find the Odeon Cinemas as well as an adjacent Costa Café. There's also a small Ben & Jerry's ice cream stand, and that's it. This theatre has 6 screens and it's usually not too crowded, even during weekends. Midweek is the perfect time to go, as you can avail of 6€ tickets and also get free upgrades to the Premium Seats because the place won't be too busy - some people "upgrade" themselves by simply moving to those seats, but you can ask at the counter and avoid embarrassment if someone comes in with a ticket assigned to the seat you've taken. I prefer to buy the tickets online, because you can skip the queues and just use one of the machines dotted around the cinema to pick up the tickets. They also have a loyalty card, very useful if you go to Odeon cinemas frequently, it doesn't take long to get points to spend on free tickets and etc., plus you sometimes get special screenings or promotions. Staff is a-ok, but friendly enough. The crowd is mixed, I've been asked before if there's trouble with kids because of the neighbourhood, and except for the one time two young lads tried to sneak in without a ticket, I never watched another "incident" worth noting. Even though people tend to leave all their trash behind them on the seats, they manage to keep everything quite tidy all the time, which contributes to a nicer experience than in other cinemas. It's a very commercial cinema so expect to go weeks without a good film to watch. They tend to keep action blockbusters on for months and some other movies only for a week or two, so if you find something you want to watch here, don't postpone it too much.

Less rustling of wrappers and a lot less chatter during the movie than what I'm normally used to at other Dublin City cinemas. Leg room is excellent in the iSense screen. The deal caught my eye: parking, a meal at the hotel bar and a regular 2D show for 20 EUR. Not a bad deal. It remains to be seen if the meal is worth it. Also movies 6 EUR early in the week is a great deal. So many reasons to make the trip to the Odeon at the Point Village. I'm a fan.

Great ticket value, but the service and experience need work. I've been coming to ODEON Coolock…read moreregularly as it's my local, but my visit this past Wednesday for "Marty Supreme" was a bit of a mixed bag. On the plus side, you really can't beat the Bargain Wednesday prices. Tickets were around €6 each, which came to about €18 for the three of us including the booking fee - fantastic value compared to most other cinemas in Dublin. However, the experience inside was quite stressful. Because of the low prices, the place was absolutely packed, and it felt like the staff couldn't quite keep up with the volume of people. The queue for food was crazy; my friends waited over 20 minutes just for a sweet cup and drinks. Even though we arrived well before the movie was scheduled to start, the wait was so long that we actually missed the first 15 minutes of the film, which was very frustrating. The atmosphere felt a bit chaotic, and the cleanliness behind the service counters wasn't up to scratch either, with popcorn left all over the place. I also had a lot of trouble with the ODEON app. I have 447 reward points saved up, but when I try to use them, the app only shows me my "badges" with no obvious way to actually redeem the points for rewards. Overall, it's a bit unfulfilling compared to the general experience and atmosphere you get at somewhere like Movies @ Swords. On a positive note, the actual theater and the toilets were spotlessly clean, and the movie itself was great. It's a cheap night out, but I think I'd rather pay a bit more elsewhere for a smoother, more organized experience next time.

We went to the Batman movie on Friday and I have to say one thing about the Square Cinema............ HALLELUJA!!!!!! THE BUTTER POPCORN IS BACK!!!!!! YEAH!!!!!! This was for years the last bastion of butter popcorndom until they realised everyone was wiping their hands on the seats and the cinema slowly rotted away. The one thing I have to take one star away is because they must have bought the seats in the same place as Ryanair. They are flip down seats with a gap in the back which you could fit a small dog through. Skinny people beware you might never be found again! Anyway; Its nice and new, its clean, the staff have obviously been trained to be courteous to customers (unlike the dopes you get in another Southside Cinema) and it is back to being an alternative cinema best of luck to them.
