Vodka Riggies with Filet was great. Chicken soup was fantastic. Large bowl full of chicken. Parking is their private lot. Place is large but dated. Part of the charm. Would recommend and will return. Ambassador's exterior and parking area are rather unassuming, blending quietly into the neighborhood. However, upon entering, you'll find a classy and classic Italian decor with a well-thought-out layout that creates smaller, more intimate spaces. It's definitely a place where you could bring parents, coworkers, or that special someone for a nice meal. The service was excellent (I believe the young lady's name was Alma). My veal parmigiana was tender, perfectly cooked, nicely sauced, and covered with just the right amount of cheese. The side salad was average in terms of content and presentation, but the balsamic dressing was quite good. The garlic bread had a nice flavor and texture as well. While I didn't have a chance to try any drinks, there is a full bar on-site. Overall, I'd be happy to eat there again, but stop on in and see what you think. read more

Classic restaurant serving crazy good food and service. The owner was one of our servers, he seemed very experienced and was consistently ensuring we enjoyed our meal. Old school Italian restaurant. Outdated decor, but low lighting makes up for it. Went on a Saturday night and not busy at all. But, the food was very good! Bread and salad come with. Simple salad but fresh and good dressing. Had chicken Marsala. They put a crispy crust on it, okay, but tender inside. But sauce very good and threw in a roasted red prepped. The internet told us one of the main foods to try in Utica is the chicken riggies so it led us to this restaurant. The food was excellent. The service was excellent. The restaurant has a nice dimly lit fancy ambiance. I got the chicken riggies dish and she got the pork chop entree with sautéed veggies. The Ambassador was wonderful once again! It never disappoints. The Caprese salad was tasty fresh with lovely ripe tomatoes. The greens were deliciously made as always. I had the veal parmesan, and she had the chicken ala Grand Marnier Amazing. Great food, Great atmosphere, wait staff was so kind. The owner even bought my wife and I a drink after our dinner. We ended up here on accident, but were SO glad we did. The atmosphere is quite nice, relaxing and romantic. The wait staff are wonderful, (the young man who was taking his role of unofficial host was a sweetheart as well,) and it's just a pleasant dining experience all around. I had a glass of cabernet for $9. It was worth it- excellent wine, and plenty of it. No regrets there! For an appetizer, we got the Ambassador Greens. It's Utica. You have to try the greens and the riggies, right? Well, these were some of the best we've had. I love Utica greens, and my partner does not, but these? he had almost the entire plate by himself! I got to taste the steak park of his filet riggies, which he very much enjoyed. I got the haddock Alaska. Now, I'm very particular with my seafood. My first preference for it is raw, but if I'm going to have it cooked, it had best not be overcooked. I'm pleased to say that my dish was cooked well- still tender and juicy! Be warned- it only comes with one shrimp and two small scallops, but they're tasty. The fish filet was a good size, and cooked properly. The SAUCE, though! I've been disappointed with a lot of cream sauces here in CNY, but they REALLY did this sherry-cream sauce justice. It's delightful. Balanced, and not at all bland. We will be back! read more

What a great find in the heart of downtown Utica. We came here on a Tuesday night to have a dinner and it definitely topped Italian on our list. I say this on the basis that we all decided we would come back here again for sure Hypes: - the food!!! Omg everything we ordered was delicious. We especially loved the toasted ravioli covered in a fresh tomato sauce and topped with crinkly spinach. I have never had anything like this appetizer. They are also known for their calamari but I have to try this. The bread was delicious. So good we ordered it three times. After riding The Polar Express Train, not knowing the area, we searched for a restaurant that would accommodate a party of 11 people on short notice. We chose the Ambassador and we were blown away by the delicious food, reasonable prices, stellar service and exemplary hospitality from the owner. Staff and owner went above and beyond to accommodate extra requests especially for the little ones, even bringing myself a delicious birthday cake serving after my daughter briefly mentioned our trip. The food was well prepared and fresh, not frozen type food found at other establishments and apps were plentiful with our order. I highly recommend this establishment because not only was the experience super, the host/owner exhibited such friendliness and sincerity making sure all was well with dinner, but he treated us as if we were family! We picked this place based off of the limited reviews while visiting Utica. What a great find! The interior of the restaurant is strictly old school but clean. The food was amazing,and I'll let the pictures do the talking! The calimari appetizer was cooked to perfection and plentiful. We had the shrimp scampi over pasta,and the veal Alfredo served over fettuccine. Both dishes were plentiful and cooked to perfection. Absolutely delicious! I've gone here 3 times now and all 3 times I've ordered the same dish. I love the way they make their Chicken Saltimbocca. It melts in your mouth. You also get a great salad with your meal. This is a very clean restaurant. The waitstaff is great and they make you feel comfortable. The owner comes out and makes sure you had a good time. He's even tried to buy me a drink a few times. The chicken, rather than being broiled was BOILED and therefore extremely chewy. Lastly, we ordered greens as an appetizer and found a locust ( like a grass hopper) in the dish.
