The pasta, pizza and risotto are all very traditional, and use fresh and rustic ingredients to create their stab at the Neapolitan pizzeria. The olives, tomatoes, mozzarella, seafood, and pasta were all fresh, of very good quality. The look and feel of the restaurant is semi-modern, but not exactly super rustic. The place has a family feel, so it's ok to be loud and chatty The waiters are quite responsive if you ask them for suggestions. The starter platters are well organised, and well portioned. The zucchini fritters are a good option, and the octopus salad is well put together as well. The mozzarella on the pizza was fresh. The rigatoni with ricotta, aubergine and tomato sauce is well worth a mention. Will come back for dessert another time!

Don't go expecting fine vintages though.

My husband went for the calamari which was a really good size for a starter, and he loved the accompanying tartare sauce which tasted homemade. My main was a healthy swordfish with salad which was delicious and very filling, and my husband was similarly impressed with the Scotch beef rib-eye, roast potatoes and cherry tomato. We just about had room for desert, another healthy option of homemade lemon sorbet and chocolate ice cream. The good thing about this place is that you don't feel so full that you can't walk afterwards, you just feel like you've had a really lovely meal in a relaxed setting. So what's the downside? Well there is the food ..... Some of it is ok. Breads are nice. My wife liked her fish. Our three appetizers were all tasteless and not particularly rescue-able with salt. The caciucco (Italian bouillabaisse) was a good diagnostic of the state of the kitchen. Bouillabaisse's and their ilk are a test of the cook - and whoever does the shopping. If the raw ingredients aren't good, nothing will save the soup. And it takes skill to cut and handle the timing so all the different ingredients with different sizes and textures all come out perfectly cooked at serving time. The caciucco did not pass the test. The Mussels were wonderful - and arguably the timings were oriented around the mussels. The tomato-based soup/stock was lovely - - - - after the addition of significant salt at table. The fish was tasteless. It was well textured so the cooking time was fine - - - it just probably wasn't that good a piece of fish to start with. The shrimp was beyond saving. (and it was cooked in the shell which should have preserved flavor. So we had a worst of both worlds - fightining in a soup to get the shell off your shrimp to find a tasteless fragment that has had all the life boiled out of it.) But it is a lovely room with lovely hardworking sincere and friendly staff ... and if you keep drinking enough of their rum and ginger drinks ... none of these food faults will make that much of a difference........ till you get the check.

The starters, bruschetta with tomato and the mozarella and avocado were fresh and tasty. My main, the N'duja pizza was stellar, nice and spicy as expected. The seafood linguine less so. Only a single prawn (hate places that do this) but quite a lot of calamari and some mussels. If you're going to include prawn, min. 2 should really be the requirement, unless it's a beast of a prawn. That tasted okay, but as you can imagine the majority of these dishes are super easy to prep and cook. Getting them wrong is pretty much impossible. The desserts were the best bit. The cherry ricotta cheesecake was standout for me. The limoncello trifle wasn't far behind. Very nice ends to a decent meal. So Strada is hands down better than Pizza Express in my opinion. As there were mirrors on the left and the right -made this place somewhat interesting - perhaps just when there alone, but I kind of liked it that I could also see the people's faces where I normally only would have seen there backs. And you could even look around using the mirroring of the mirror. It's not the worst place to go in Camden.

Now, though, I know I can make a pretty good pasta dish at home with the help of Mr Sacla, and am loathe to choose a pasta place for a night out - although Italian places do offer the best desserts, so sometimes it's worth it if I'm feeling extra greedy. The thng that really lets Bagatti's down, in my opinion, is that it's such a big, hard space, and there is nothing - no soft furnishings or anything - to absorb the noise. This can make the atmosphere a bit jarring, not helped by the tables being crammed in so close together.
