I have been here 3 times now and it is so good. First the service has always been great from the staff there. They are super friendly and helpful. The restaurant is inside Haven City Market but they have a nice set up. There is a tv and so far its always showing spongebob or the movie Chef with are both amazing choices. Now to what we are all here for.... The FOOD. Yesterday I got the double smash burger amboy style with bacon and chillies and I got some chili cheese fries. Let me say the burger was juicy and still crispy on the edges. The flavor was delicious and tender. I don't know what bacon they use however it is so flavorful. The fries are thin and crispy just the way I like them. I will be honest and give everyone a heads up, the chili is a little bit on the sweeter end but it is so delicious and good. I recommend it but I know the sweet chili isn't for everyone. Last time I went I tried the DH dry aged and it was so thick, juicy, and delicious. It was a little bit pricy however in my opinion it was the worth the price. I will be back for more.
Rated top 25 burger in the world according to World Best Steak Restaurants. I'm glad this spot opened in West Covina so I don't have to drive all the way to LA. It's located inside the Haven City Market through the main entrance on the left hand side. Plenty of seating at the bar and also there's a good amount of tables next to the stall. I'm lactose intolerant so when I eat dairy products I hope it's worth it. This place was definitely not a let down, blew me away with how amazing the meal was. You can either order at the counter or sit at the bar where someone will come take your order. I ordered the Double Smash Amboy style with the fries/drink combo. Food The meat in the burger was perfectly cooked, ultra juicy and flavorful. The melted cheese combined with their burger sauce is heavenly. You get a little acidity from the sauce and pickles to combat the heaviness of the burger. Grilled onions wasn't overpowering and had amazing flavor. Fries were amazing, it's incredibly crispy and thin which is my favorite. Ketchup provided as a side but I dipped some of the fries in the burger sauce/cheese. Seems like a quick meal kind of place so I don't expect amazing service. But the girl working the counter was pretty friendly and checked in a few times.
Definitely worth trying this place if you are a burger lover. The price includes fries and a regular drink so I think it's reasonable. Especially for the quality and flavor coming from the beef alone, I am coming back here. Very casual vibe which should be for a burger place. Very swift service and welcoming. Hope this place continues to thrive
So while we were out in Haven City Market tonight, we decided to check out this spot but it was already 8:50pm and they were about to close down. Alison was the server who helped us and she was kind enough to let us order, she also gave solid recommendations on what to order! I got their Slim Thicc Truffle style and the food only took about 10 minutes to prepare. We were the last orders of the night and the burger was delicious, definitely worth the trip. I appreciate Alison helping us, she was the MVP for sure!
I went with the DH, fancy style. In a world full of smash burgers, this throwback (modern-day throwback) was a nice reprieve. Wait, I'm underselling it - this was the best burger that I've had in the last couple of years. And, I've tried them all. I love Smashburgers and the caramelization that comes with them, but I was missing a "real" burger. This one did not disappoint! I believe it's a 10 oz patty so you're getting a monster. The size is the size; it's nice but not the best part of the burger. The dry aged beef, the crispiness of the crust, and the juiciness of the burger take it to a whole other level. Then you have the condiments: garlic aioli, caramelized onions. Hands down this is the best burger I've had in years!
I didn't realize an Amoy opened here until recently. I regularly dine at the one in Chinatown but hated the paid parking situation. I got the slimthic amboy combo which came out to be roughly under $20. The slimthic amboy burger is one of the best burgers Ive had. The patty is thick, juicy, and meaty. Their burger is cooked between medium to medium well which gives a nice tender texture to it without being overly dry. Their house sauce + onions only add to the flavor while the bun is spongey enough to not fall apart from all the juices. Even their fries have a nice golden crispiness all around. Overall, very deserving as one of the best burgers in the US. I'm glad this location opened up, although a bit farther for me. It is missing the steak burger that Chinatown has, but everything else is on point.
12/30/2025 Back here again! I've never tried their smashed burger so decided to try it today. DOUBLE SMASH BURGER (FANCY STYLE) There's single smash burger and also double smash burger. Then you can pick a style that you want. I chose Fancy Style. This was delicious, BUT I think it would have been better with Amboy style. I think I wanted a tangier sauce for the burger. However, burger was very juicy and the Fancy sauce was still good. Just the overall creaminess of the Fancy style did not match the smash burger I envisioned. I think Fancy style is best with a thicker patty. Got it as a combo, which comes with a drink and small fries. The portion was good. Fries were crispy and reminded me of McD fries. However, I did eat it slightly cooled down, as I ate my food a bit late, since I wanted to wash my hands first. Big mistake as the fries cooled down so quick! However, still fries were crispy and not oily! Well-seasoned too! Burger was still hot and very juicy! CUSTOMER SERVICE Overall great, friendly service! No complaints! I like the vibe here. It's such an easy place to drop by for some good burgers and fries! Also, Alvin Cailan was there sitting at the front talking with his customers that were sitting near him.
Stopped by here Thursday night and it wasn't too busy. Took about 15 minutes to get our food. The prices weren't too bad and the customer service was pretty good. It's inside the Haven marketplace so there is plenty of seating of you don't want to sit at the counter. The fries were perfectly crispy and seasoned. The chili was a bit sweet which was strange for me but it was good. The hot dog was a bit overcooked.
This second Amboy location is tucked inside Haven City Market, a vibrant food hall packed with an incredible variety of food choices. We came specifically for Amboy, ranked #9th on The World's Best Burger list and created by Alvin Cailan, the founder of Eggslut. We arrived just in time to take advantage of the Snackflation Special, $9 can you get a Single Smashed Cheeseburger, fries and a drink. Just from holding the burger in our hands, those perfectly toasted sesame buns invited us in for something special. From the perfect melted cheese, smashed beef patty with to the crispy edges. The burger was flawless, and incredibly well crafted. Nothing was overdone allowing the quality to shine through. This was one of the best burgers we've had In a long time, and easy one top places to circle back everytime we're in town. read more

I have fantasies. One of them is being consumed by a burger, instead of the other way around. This is what happened here. The umami of the dry aged meat enveloped and coated my soul, and everything became unreal. The flavor of the chili is incredibly delicious and complex. The cheese, wow. The level of char how it starts more outside and as you travel into the center it becomes even juicier. So you get all the texture profiles of a smash burger, with that of a gourmet burger. Just every category of what a burger should be, this thing nailed it out of the park. If you don't try this burger you really need to just buzz off and not call yourself a foodie. I can't wait to go back!!! ( Sunday 5/24) So I found out about this place in a bit of an odd way. I'm a huge dodger fan and Kyle Tucker made a video ad that had him visiting his fav LA spots on his day off. One spot was Amboy but the on out in Chinatown. The video made the huger look so delicious that I sent it to my best friend and she's like there's on in Covina! Closer to us so that was a great surprise. I wish we caught our servers name, she was so nice and helped us decided on what to get. We asked about the chili and she said it can be too sweet for some people but she liked and then she offered us a small sample of it and dude we were like oh yeah we getting something with chili Ok ok the food. We shared the chili cheese fries I got the Amboy and she got the Fancy. We also got the classic smash patties. Comes in 3 different classic, slim thick and the DH. It's cooked to perfection! It was juice about didn't fall apart on you, the caramelized onions elevated the burger. Even their bun stands out. I ended up take half home because we killed the fries and that burger was still just as delicious for lunch the next day. Oh and if you want to catch the dodger game, there's a huge tv behind the counter to enjoy. Overall there's nothing not to like about this spot. It's clean, simple menu that packs a punch, and the service is amazing. We can't wait to go back to try the hot dogs. Out server said they are good too. read more

We are locals, I love me a good juicy burger. I believe this might be our go to now. Service is fantastic. Atmosphere is nice and mellow. Simple menu. I like that.! Their Amboy sauce for the burger is delicious. Highly recommended read more

Good burger, better than In and Out. We got the amboy slim thicc and it was amazing! Super juicy burger, loveee the meat but the price was pretty steep ($18). Fries were just okay, nothing special. Service was decent, waited around 10-15 mins but we did come on a Saturday. read more

Simply irresistible (She's so fine, there's no tellin' where the money went) Simply irresistible (She's all mine, there's no other way to go)... Located inside Haven City you'll see why their burgers are simply irresistible to pass by as they are one of the first vendors. 5/5 Food Wife asked me how was the Amboy burger and the only word that came to mind was Sensational. So much flavor and the meat juicy makes my mouth water all over again. Everything tasted fresh with a toasted bun and bacon added. The caramelized onions give it a sweet taste. 5/5 Service They will go over the menu with you any questions no problem. Very nice ans attentive service. You can select the patty and add on items. 4/5 Parking It can get crowded during the peak lunch and dinner rush. If it is packed just be patient. Can't wait to go back. Tried the DH burger fancy and liked it so much, I came back the next day to try the slim thicc truffle. Service was friendly and helpful, answering questions I had about menu. Amboy is known for their famous beef burgers. For someone who doesn't eat beef anymore, why would moi eat here? Well, there was something that drew me in. Truffle fries called my name. I was reeled in on my first visit. Fries tasted great. However, the sauce was place on the top layer and the bottom layer didn't get any sauce. I'll have to ask for more sauce on the side next time. I returned the next day in hopes to try their tuna melt (non-beef). I found myself getting both tuna melt and cheese melt. Unfortunately, they ran out of tuna melt (after I ordered it). They supposedly refunded me for it, but I have yet to see the credit on my credit card. I will have to follow up on it. Anyway, the cheese melt was super tasty! Big slices of lightly toasted white bread with a thick layer of American cheese. I couldn't stop eating it. I would definitely get it again! They gave me a complimentary cheese melt and a small fries to make up for the no tuna melt. Thank you Amboy! Prices were reasonable. Staff was friendly. Service was quick. Bar counter seating is available. Shared bench seating is also available. They are located at Haven City Market in West Covina. Free parking. The hype is real! Heard that AM Boy had really good burgers and I gotta say, I agree 100%! Ordered:*Truffle burger combo - The burger was tasty. Perfectly made. My only compliant is that I wanted to upgrade my fries to cheese fries but staff informed me that its not possible. I would have to order my fries separately in order to make it happen. I love their truffle burger so much I went back another day for them. Fries were perfectly crispy. They have bar seating available but truly you can sit anywhere in the Haven City Market. If you like a good burger, this would be a great local spot to check out. Staff is pretty friendly and helpful. 2 thumbs up from this Yelper! Amboy is a solid gourmet burger spot tucked inside Haven City Market in West Covina. It's more of a no-frills, bar-top setup within the food hall, but still has that trendy feel. I went with the 10 oz "The DH" dry-aged burger, which comes "fancy" style. The burger itself was definitely juicy and high quality--you can tell they're using good ingredients. That said, I felt like it needed a bit more flavor overall. The garlic mayo didn't quite hit the way I expected, but adding their chopped chiles helped bring it to life. I'd probably try it Amboy style next time with their signature sauce for more punch. One small thing that was a little annoying--they wouldn't cut the burger in half. Not a dealbreaker, but something you'd expect at this price point. Service at the counter was friendly, and the operation was smooth. Overall, it is pretty pricey, and while it's a very good burger, I've had better value elsewhere. Still, if you're already at Haven City Market and craving a quality burger, Amboy is definitely worth trying at least once. read more
Located in the Haven City Market. Parking can be hit or miss depending on when you go. Counter type eating area and more seating around the Haven Market. Service is straightforward and food came out quickly. I got their Snackflation special for $9. It comes with a single cheeseburger, fries, and a drink. Fries were solid - nicely seasoned and freshly hit. I don't usually have an opportunity to get a smash burger so this was a treat. Burger was excellent - well seasoned, good flavor, and that nice crisp. Their buns are a perfect combination with the patty. Buns are fresh and hold the burger well. Enjoyed my meal and it was at a good price. I'll have to come back again to try some of their other items. read more

Ordered the dry aged Amboy burger and it was delicious . It had all I wanted in a burger...it was simple but very tasty. The meat was incredible. Sat at the counter which is nice and Lana was very attentive. She asked several times if I needed anything. Overall, a great place if you want a special and delicious burger. read more

THE BEST BURGER IVE EVER HAD the hype is work it guys - I've always heard of amboy but I didn't want to go to Chinatown so imagine my surprise when I found them at havencity. WITH NO LINE I'm not even joking the burger is amazing and the second I left I wanted to come back the next day I got the dodgers burger one time and it had blue cheese which made it pretty funky but still amazing Anything you get here will be great I will be back Hehe read more

Cool burger spot at the Haven City Market in West Covina. Ordered Amboy Slim Thicc Single, cooked medium well with no pink. The burger was amazing, juicy and yummy. Look at the toasted seeded buns. The burger was bit pricey ($14). I didn't order drink (no fountain, just cans) or fries. Service was great. Friendly staff. Ambiance is nice. Cool cafe bar counter. read more
Amboy China Town served me one of the best burgers ever. I originally came to Haven food hall to visit a different eatery. They closed early and I beelined to Amboy, getting there 7 minutes before closing. They already started cleaning up but thankfully took my order and even explained a bit about the burger and the business. It was a bit late so I skipped the fries and got the Fancy. I could not resist the confit garlic, caramelized onions and pickles. It is just me so perfectly, from the crispy and juicy patties to the combination of tops. Not too much and everything works with each other. Quality is on point and the flavors are divine. read more

Been to the Haven City Market a few times and was waiting for Amboy's stall to open up so I'm glad I finally got to try it! Amboy is located in the front of the food hall, so it gets loud and busy with foot traffic. You order at the register and can opt for their bar seating or taking it to-go in the hall's general seating. The staff were friendly in explaining the different options to us. My friend and I got the Fancy and Amboy burgers to share. Amboy and Fancy 9/10 - These were hefty burgers but soo delicious. The meat was flavorful, had crisp edges, and juicy. I love that they use sesame buns, which I think elevates the burger over the typical brioche or potato bun. I preferred the Amboy slightly more, but both were great. The fries unexpectedly were really good too! The burgers are a bit pricey, but keep in mind that it comes with fries and a drink. The portions are huge so I think they're worth it! read more

Inside haven city so it's perfect to mix and match different places! The burgers here are pretty dang delicious. The sesame bun. Deliciousss. Meat quality is great. It's nice that they have bar seating but you can also take the burger to any of the other tables. Service is kind and average wait times. Would eat again! read more
Tried Amboy for the first time and I love their smash burger patty. My mistake was getting the patty melt instead of the burger combo. I was in love with the patty and will definitely try it as a burger combo next time (not a fan of the patty melt bread). Along with the meal, we also got a side of Amboy fries. It was a good mix of cheese, sauce, grilled onions, and pepperoncini. We finished it in one sitting lol. Service was great and the bar seating was a good touch. Will definitely come back. Amboy is still a 6/5 in my book! Came by today during lunch and noticed they had a brand new menu item. Advertised as It's Tomato SZN! A slim thicc patty with provolone cheese and "chocolate tomatos" from TuttiFrutti farms! Thank you to the staff for clarifying the menu and convincing to give it a try. It's $18 and NGL I'm happy I tried! The burger is pretty freaking good! I'm not sure if it's a limited menu item or not but the staff told me I was the FIRST person to try that burger!! That came as a surprise, but also an honor to be able to try a new menu item. I would like t say the tomato's were sweet and complimented the savory flavors of then slim thicc patty. If you like tomato's these tomato's are on a different level. Get to Amboy and try this Chocolate Tomato burger! I can happily cosign for anyone to try this burger! This is for their West Covina location inside of the super busy Haven City Market. If you haven't been, make sure to go. This is one of the more exceptional food courts due to its variety and quality. Just be prepared to drive around in circles looking for a space. Which brings me to Amboy. Heard so much about this place and I've seen it on a couple of lists for best burgers in L.A. So you know I was going to end up here one way or another. Seating is bar style and there are no fountain drinks; just cans and bottles. You can get burgers, patty melts and hot dogs here, along with an assortment of fries. Pricing is reasonable, especially if you get the standard Amboy combo. But I wanted their truffle fries, so that broke the combo deal and everything had to be priced individually, which put my bill north of 30 bucks (yikes). - Amboy classic double smash - 5.5/10: Man, I really wanted to like this burger. I really did. But it just fell flat for me. My biggest gripe had to do with the sesame bun, which was just uninspiring, dry, and too thick. I got more bread than I did meat. They could've grilled it a little more as well just to give it some crisp. Their Amboy sauce was also just tarty and way too familiar. It doesn't stand out at all from all the other sauces in the hundreds of other smashburger spots everywhere. It's like everyone is using the same sauce recipe. Meat also had very little flavor. This was just a super disappointing burger. - Truffle Fries - 8.5/10: this definitely made up for the burger. They give you a large basket full of shoestring type fries (easily could be shared between two), cooked perfectly, and infused with truffle flavor. Loved the bits of aged parmesan as well. One of the best versions of these fries I've had. So yeah, I really wanted to like this burger spot, but it just fell super flat for me. I will come back though. Maybe the slim thicc patty or dry aged beef options are better than the smashed versions. We'll see. read more
Was so stoked for this burger joint to finally open in Haven City Market in West Covina. Their soft opening only had combo meals available but now they have a whole open menu with three different options of patty types and then how the burgers are dressed. I love the double smash and the dry aged. Delicious. Regular amboy reminds me of thousand island dressing. Truffle and fancy is delicious. I'm just so thankful they've decided to open one up in the 626, which saves me the trouble from having to drive to chinatown to get, what i think, is a top 3 burger on my list. The DH burger was just wow. If you're not into flavor or thick patties with some pink in it, you might wanna stray away from this one. With some many smash burgers popping up, left and right, this DH burger was truly a great change up. You still get that crust without losing out on the meat. Kate remembered me from last about the spinning of the wheel deal and she really kept her promise on remembering me which I really appreciated. Didn't realize Amboy was the brain child of the legendary Egg Slut. Had no expectations, but after trying half the menu over various lunch breaks, I would describe it as man's no-nonsense comfort food with chef-y sensibility and execution. But I guess that's what comes from being an alumn of places such as The French Laundry and Castagna. If you like beef, you like burgers, you like french fries, you'll love Amboy. I mean, just look at the photos people post. You do not really see "lettuce," "tomato," etc. Your key vegetable is either potatoes, and maybe some onions and pickles. That's it. This is really a showcase of hamburger beefiness. Whether as smashed patties with the really concentrated caramelized ends, or thick beef patties, with cheese and their own aiolis and sauces, the who delivery accentuates the hamburger as the star. I love that they offer a quality, substantial, sesame seed bun AND toasted slices of shokupan (Japanese style milk bread) to sandwich the beef. The shokupan bread especially feels like an homage to Louis Lunch of New Haven, Connecticut (recognized by the library of Congress to be the birthplace of the modern hamburger). The gentle sweetness of milk bread, with its crisp toasted texture to offset the gentle fluffy innards, right before your teeth sinks into the luscious smashed beef (or 2 patties if you go double!) --- oh fuggedaboutit! It's like the best parts of childhood, amplified -- the kind of grown up taste that McDonald's tried to deliver with the Arch Deluxe, and failed with back in the 1990's. Even for the price point, I think it's quite quality for for the level of gourmet you get. Although, I would say you don't have to pay the premium for the dry-aged beef with the fatter patty (The DH)... unless you are the most discerning of beef snobs that really crave the extra nuances of umami. Don't get me wrong, it is really good, but I'd be perfectly happy with the other 2 styles of patties they offer. I enjoy the straightforwardness and simplicity of the burgers, whether you want it as the "classic," "Truffle," or "steakhouse." I've had plenty of $18~$30+ burgers from various gastropubs, celebrity chef joints, steakhouses, etc. But only a handful... probably less than 5 are as satisfying as what I get here, and you won't even have to spend as much. The pastrami is also pretty decent, but I think if most people based their expectations of pastrami off the "World Famous The Hat," this is considerably less salty, as thin-sliced pastrami goes. As fries go, I do think they are some of the best around for this kind of thin cut, crisp, golden fries. I do think they get a bit too soft and soggy under as much toppings as pastrami and chili cheese. But the garlic fries is the kind of style I like, with freshly minced garlic mingling over it all. Actual garlic. Actual bite. None of this "garlic parmesan" nonsense that totally drowns out garlic's voice like parmesan was Kanye grabbing the mic from Taylor Swift at an awards show shit.
