We've been attending for 2 years and love it! Definitely a school that desires parent involvement which works great for our family!

The Principal and administration are well involved and genuinely care for all children. When we were involved in a car accident recently and didn't have a rental car yet, the Principal offered to come get my child so that she didn't miss any school-- either he or the Nurse would have come-- now that's going above and beyond to ensure that your child's education is met! These people will work well with any parent, so if your student goes here, or any school, talk to the staff and see if they can help. My daughter has experienced being bullied-- this school doesn't tolerate this at all. They have proactive anti-bullying campaigns and handle all situations right away. They participate in PowerSchool which tells me everything daily from missing assignments to attendance, and up to date grades. The teachers email weekly and communicate back and forth with me whenever we may need to communicate. Currently, Ms. Nelson, 3rd grade is my daughter's teacher. Being a single dad of 4 children (1 college, 2 high-school, and one elementary) I appreciate the teacher communicating with me via email and working with me on my child's education and overall concern for her well-being. Ms. Nelson has been a great person to work with this year. Thank you Meridian Elementary for showing myself and my child unconditional caring and support. YOU ROCK!

Now we are settled into Idaho and at Heroes and I don't think our kids will let us ever leave (not that I want to). As an Acton Academy, Heroes encourages every child to think and behave like a hero, not a victim, while embarking on a self-growth journey. They encourage every family and child to be proactive, begin with the end in mind, to hold themselves and others accountable and to high standards. It's a place where children discover their own passions, gifts and begin to lead meaningful and purposeful lives. I have seen incredible growth in all 4 of our children over the last 2 years while attending Heroes Academy. They have developed real life skills such as how to have a meaningful conversation with an adult; how to fail and get back up again; how to speak in front of a large crowd; how to begin finding a passion or start a small business, all without our help. If you're worried that your child isn't actually learning much by completing so many assignments, doing homework each day, taking tests and getting 'good' grades in the assembly line of a traditional public education system, then Heroes Academy might be great for your family. I couldn't be happier with Heroes Academy and all that they have done for our entire family. You see, being a family at Heroes has encouraged my husband and I to continue on our own self-growth journey and to push ourselves each day, while our kids grow right alongside of us.

Being a private school you expect more, because each child is so profitable from the monthly income they bring into the school, they will keep a bully vs removing them. Both of my children were bullied, the principal would tell me it will be talked about every time I came for help to protect my child. The bullying continued, so bad my children had to be forced to go to school to not get behind as they felt they endured mental abuse. The rate at which students are leaving this school for another school is high. The principal allows the best students to leave by not addressing the problem students. Every student causing problems can stay and persist in problems rather than being removed permanently as the parents talk in groups about how everyone pulls from the school because the principal is allowing the problem students to maintain bullying. My son now has to be removed from the school because he is crying himself to sleep. the child harassing him has been allowed to do so the entire year no change only empty promises. If your child is harassed, you'll be forced to leave because the harasser will never be asked to leave. Shameful

The school offers great after school programs and our daughter has had exposure to in-depth art class, music glass, ballet, sports, etc. The unexpected benefit beyond all of this has been the learnings available to parents. My husband and I have enjoyed several opportunities to learn more about the Montessori approach to learning and spent several classes on positive discipline, much of which we have applied to our home. I have two other students who have attended since Kindergarten. We choose to shift schools because, not only is Cole Valley academically rigorous, but they also care about the whole person and focus on preparing them for a future where they deeply think about how to impact their world for Christ. The elementary campus integrates creativity and fun into their courses by having themed units that incorporate all subjects into creative learning from which my boys really benefited. My students always felt loved and encouraged as they were pushed to rise to the high expectations that the teachers set. The teachers would give extra attention to help my sons overcome any hindrance to their potential. I appreciated the extra care they gave to communicate with me and involve me in those solutions. They set a solid foundation for my boys' faith in their elementary years. At the secondary level, students have an advisory mentor assigned to them to walk through 7th - 12th grades to examine life and faith. My boys have deeply appreciated these relationships. My graduate had the vice principal as his mentor who he says really taught him how to love and serve others. Their friendships with their advisors are meaningful and help our students think deeply about their life decisions at this critical season in their lives. The guidance counselors are excellent at keeping students on track for their individual college goals. The teachers offer traditional and creatives methods to learn the material. The student experience is full of opportunities for healthy social fun at games and the school spirit is contagious. The opportunities for social justice through short term mission trips with peers or community service locally are abundant for a small school. My students' friendships are faithful and meaningful and I trust them in their social time...a gift to a parent who might otherwise worry about their peer groups. Overall, I couldn't be happier with my student's experience at Cole Valley Christian Schools. I would recommend CVCS to anyone who asked.

Throughout my time at the school I was subjected to severe bullying from other students. I was regularly insulted, called names, and told to kill myself. Physical assaults happened multiple times a month, and in my experience the students responsible often faced little or no consequences. One example that still stands out: a student sitting behind me stabbed me in the back with a pencil during class. I yelled because it hurt, and I ended up receiving in-school suspension for swearing while the student who stabbed me received no punishment. Situations like that happened repeatedly. When incidents were reported, I was often told my parents would be informed, but later I learned they were not. The most painful part was the feeling that many teachers and staff simply didn't care. In one case, a teacher told me I should drop out and that the most I would ever achieve was being a waiter. Comments like that from someone in a position of authority were incredibly damaging. School should be a place where students feel safe and supported. Instead, my experience was that bullying was ignored and sometimes the victims were punished. The environment had a serious negative impact on my physical, emotional, and mental health. I hope the school has improved since I attended, but based on my experience I cannot recommend it. No student should have to go through what I experienced there.
