A solid experience. This is an older theater. No recliners or preselected seats, but clean and well kept. The staff were nice. For a Sunday, it was pretty quiet which when it comes to move theaters, I appreciate. There is ample parking and just 5 min from the ISU campus. read more

In Auditorium 13, the right side surround speaker was super loud that the center channel was nearly impossible to hear. Also, that right side surround must be blown cause I heard a steady crackle throughout all of Fantastic Four tiday. And, how many ads and previews does there need to be? 35 minutes was straight previews. Show like four and then move on. But, get the audio fixed. The theatre and bathrooms are so dirty. Our movie theatre smells like a dank, moldy basement...it was so unpleasant. The seats were comfortable and the staff were excellent (other than the guy selling tix--he was miserable. He hates his job.). Paid $4.49 to see Black Widow today. Wanted to save a few bucks vs going to Markus. Seating - I did not know, based on years of sitting in recliners in my home area, that the old jam-packed seating still exists. This theater made it clear that it still does. This region must not bring AMC enough money to convert the old theaters to 21st century standards. Facilities - not good when the restroom has 3 "#2" stalls and one has no tp, another has no door, and the 3rd is flooded. I think I will pony up the few extra $ and opt to patronize Markus Theaters vs returning to this one. read more

It's your typical theater, though it could be a bit cleaner, especially in the main lobby. I haven't experienced horrible lines at the ticket counter or the snack like (although the review below are kind of old and lets be real, if you're going to watch a much anticipated movie, you can expect lines). Most of the employees are friendly enough and snacks are pretty good - your typical theater food. While the seats are not recliners, they are still comfortable and lean back more than most regular seats I've seen. read more

The Starplex Cinema makes me sad, and it will make you sad, too. The only question you'll be asking yourself is what makes you most sad: * Lines for tickets are often ludicrously long, sometimes making people wait 15-20 minutes to buy a ticket. This is caused, in largest part, due to there often being only one staff member selling tickets, and often concurrently selling concessions. Oh, you wanted to go see Brad Pitt in "Action Splatter Movie IV: The Deadening" tonight? Hope it's first ten minutes didn't drive the plot, because you're walking in late because the suburban family of eight ahead of you in line wanted ten tubs-o'-popcorn and eight belly-buster sized Pepsis (Diet, of course), so now you don't get to see the previews or the start of the movie, even though you arrived early. * You thought you could skip that obscene line and use the self-ticketing machine tucked in a hidden alcove in the lobby? Still sucks to be you, then: That machine hasn't worked in three years. Why advertise and leave it there if it hasn't functioned in nearly a half-decade, even after the change in management? * I've yet to make it through a movie without hearing an absurd amount of commentary from fellow movie goers. It's like there's a screening test everyone except me went though when they bought their ticket: "Have you ever been to a movie before? No, good. Will you leave your cell phone on and answer it every time it beeps or plays your ringtone from rapper CntGtAJob? Sweet. Will you talk with your friend about what that skank Gina said to Bobby last night that you saw via text? Sorry, m'am, you can only go in if that conversation will carry over Brad Pitt's screams on our Dolby 7.1 sound system." Basically, it's the best of people who don't know how to be adults at the movies, so enjoy paying $9 to hear a crappy rendition of MST3K. * Sticky. Everything's sticky. The floors, the seats, the faucets. It's like they took 45 toddlers, gave them all two belly-buster mugs of Mountain Dew, locked them in the theatre for an hour after wishing them the best of luck. How can any place not an understaffed daycare be the human equivalent of a fly trap? Go to any of the other great theatres in the area. There are two other first-runs and a great historic theatre playing classics. Heck, go watch a play/musical at several of the nearby performing arts centers. I've even waited for a movie to come out on home video/Netflix rather than subject me to the waking nightmare that is this place. It's just that bad. read more

If you want great prices and affordable this is the place to go. But management sucks. Chairs need to be fixed and floors need to be redone. I been going to this theatre for 10 years or so I highly recommend to keep going to this location. Especially when you live close to campus. read more

Very nice clean theater on the far north side of Bloomington/Normal. They usually have the top movies as soon as they are released. The ticket prices are average buy the concession is pretty pricey. I recommend you go before 6pm to avoid the college crowd who don't respect other people at the theater by talking talking and talking throughout the movie not to mention kicking your seat!!! read more

Coming from AZ, this place is awesome. It was only $18 for 3 adults. Now they don't have the recliner seats like most theatres have updated to as of late, but the seats were comfy. They leaned back really far and had lots of leg space in the rows. Volume and surround sound worked well. It's definitely not your high end movie experience, but for the cost it's awesome. If you want the better overall experience go to Wehrenberg or Ovation. Food pricing was typical for any movie theatre. I would come again for sure. read more

Went in on Sunday afternoon for a movie. The young man at the ticket counter was poorly trained. He didn't say a word to me or to the other two customers in front on me. He did however, manage to text while my credit card was being processed. So, at least he knows how to multi task ! Went in and the theater was dirty with food debris in the center aisle. read more

I'd say that the Starplex and the Wehrenberg are the two best movie theaters in town. The Starplex is on the north side of Normal near the ramp for I-55. It is very busy when you would expect (Friday & Saturday evenings) and you may be forced to get creative with your parking. I saw people parked at the end of isles, alongside the building, in the grass, etc. read more

Since AMC theaters have taken over this facility I have not been impressed whatsoever. First of all the staff is still rude and looks like they don't like their jobs at all. Went to see a movie and the theater was not cleaned from the previous showing the floor was sticky. The only reason why I give it a one star is that presentation and sound is good. Also they will not let anyone in under the age of 17 without someone over the age of 21 that is a parent or in their words legal guardian. When checking out the statement on their corporate website it says nothing about legal guardian it just says a guardian 21 years or older. When I moved to this area over four years ago Starplex was a great place to go to. It has definitely gone downhill. I highly recommend checking out the competition across town. read more

WOW. Very annoyed. Went and saw "The Shack" movie last night at the 6:30 showing. It was a Sunday night, therefor the theatre closed earlier. We were the last movie showing in the theatre that we were in for the night. After the movie, I went home and suddenly realized I didn't have my purse. I went and looked EVERYWHERE, only to come to the realization that I had left it in the movie theatre under the seat. It was too late to get in contact with Starplex, so I had to wait and call in the morning around 9:30 A.M. The manager answered and put me on hold for about 2-3 minutes while he went and "looked" for it. It takes longer than that to THOROUGHLY look under all the seats and in every row (I didn't tell him where I sat- he never asked me, which was a mistake HE made as a manager.) So being that we were the last show-time for the night, and that I called early before any movies played today, tells me that the clean up crew/employees found my purse and stole all my goods (credit card, my ID, my wallet, medications.. etc) from it, instead of returning it. I filed a police report and the police officer told me that he "was not able to pull up the video footage in the movie theatre" Hmm. Weird right? and he thought that "sorry we didn't see no purse" was the best he could do for me while looking very uninterested in my issue. SHITTY managing skills and attitude he had with me, and I'm very very disappointed in the people who should of turned it in, being that that is apart of their job description. I will not be going there again due to the shitty attitude of the manager and the way he treated me in this situation. Very rude and very ignorant. I feel very, very bad for anyone who has ever been stolen from or left a valuable part of their lives in a movie theatre by accident. read more

I wish I could give the no stars at all! I am absolutely furious ! A friend and I went to see a movie the other night. I was in a rush to leave because we needed to get home. I forgot my wallet and tried to turn around and go back to get it. The doors were already locked for the night. The janitor that was in the lobby were you can buy food. Knocked on the door and he refused to open it. So my friend and I left and decided to just come back the next morning. When I returned I was able to get my wallet back, went to the car to leave and was checking to make sure everything that was there. Things were missing!!! So we turned around and went back in. Talked to the same guy that I talked to when I was trying to get it back. Calms that they were not responsible for anything left or stolen property. I find absolutely stupid, there was less than 10 people in my theater and no one sitting next to me other than my friend. We were almost the last ones in that theater,except one couple that was sitting in the front row. One of the employees stole things out of my wallet!!!! Keep in mind i don't have much to be responsible for since I am only 15. I have a wallet from pink so it is very small!!! I had $10 of cash and a gift card in my wallet and that is it!!!!
