These guys did a great job with our recent move. We ran into quite a few speed bumps during the whole process and they handled every problem professionally and with the utmost speed. The owner, Lloyd Benson, was always available any time I called (several times) and was always helpful and courteous. On top of all that, we had rented a separate truck to store our patio furniture, grills and some little stuff and they even unloaded that for us as well (they didn't have to).They also reassembled our Sleep Number bed for us which was amazing because my wife and I have spent the last 3 nights on air mattresses . My experience with AMEN Movers was extremely poor. I found the company on Nextdoor, but had I reviewed their Yelp ratings, I would have avoided them entirely. The Yelp reviews closely mirror my experience. I initially spoke with Lloyd, who came to my home to assess the items. I pointed out several fragile pieces, and he assured me that his team would wrap them, including a jewelry stand, vases, and pictures. He provided a quote for $702.50, and we scheduled the move for August 14 between 9:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. At 10:24 a.m., I texted to ask for an updated arrival time and received a response of ten minutes. The movers arrived at 10:55 a.m. Once they began, the process appeared to be going smoothly. While they were packing the truck, I was transporting boxes in my car to the destination. After they completed the move and began unloading, I returned to my home and discovered that several items had been left behind. When I notified them, they stated they could not take the vases and pictures because they were not packed. I reminded them of my conversation with Lloyd, and I also pointed out a bench that had been left in the dining room. They then agreed to return for the remaining items. While unloading, I witnessed one mover attempt to place my dining table on a dolly without wrapping it. The table rolled off, and the leaf fell out. I took photos. When I addressed this with the lead mover, he suggested repairing it with wood glue, which was unacceptable. At the end of the job, I was charged $897.00 and informed that they accept only cash, Cash App, or Zelle, which prevents any credit card dispute. I contacted Lloyd regarding the damaged table, the items left behind, and the lack of proper wrapping. He stated he was not aware of the damage and later claimed he had fired the movers because they were using his business to start their own. When I inspected my storage unit, I found the items packed in an unsafe and poorly organized manner, with heavy items stacked on top of unstable pieces. My mattress and bedframe were placed at the front, and other items were at risk of tipping over. Lloyd agreed the unit was poorly packed and came with his daughter to help me get to some boxes that were stacked very high. also showed him the condition of my sofa and bedframe, which were only partially wrapped, resulting in dirt on the sofa. When I sent photos of the damage, Lloyd did not mention filing a claim. Instead, he offered to pay out of pocket but said he could not do so immediately due to family issues. After giving him thirty days, he sent $200 through Zelle and stated that no further reimbursement would be provided. Although Lloyd was polite, he consistently avoided accountability and offered multiple excuses. Based on my experience, I do not recommend AMEN Movers. The lack of care, inconsistency, and overall inconvenience outweighed any benefit of supporting a local business. Of course you see a one star because I had to but definitely Zero stars. AMEN Movers did a great job and I highly recommend them. Moved into 4500 sq foot house and they dissambled everything from old house, moved everything, and reassembled. I'm only giving 4 stars because of the situation that came up when it was time to pay but the price was $65 higher than the $230 I was quoted by Lloyd. When I asked for exact quote, no more, no less. I budgeted for that amount & shouldn't have had to contact Lloyd about pricing issues. Beware! A damaged table leaf has not been repaired and returned to us. Our move was completed on June 26, 2021 Generally speaking the crew was polite and the crew lead was attentive. Their care with a few of our items leaves a bit to be desired. Two items stand out. First, a table leaf was scratched. When it was pointed out to the crew lead, he acknowledged that one of his guys had caused this and explained how it happened. The second is a broken foot on a dresser. This wasn't discovered until I went to reposition the dresser. One of the feet fell off allowing the dresser to lean over. My point with both of these issues is that a responsible mover should have pointed out any preexisting or in-transit damage once it is discovered. That didn't happen. We were left to discover and address these things when found them. We have called Lloyd multiple times without resolution. My wife called more than a month ago and Lloyd told her 'this is the first that I've heard about a damaged table leaf'. When I talked to him this past Saturday, he told me the same thing. He did mention having some vague knowledge of another item that had been damaged (dresser?). Last Saturday made eleven weeks since our move. The current status is as follows. 1. Long story short, they do a good job and get your things from A to B. Customer service from the people in charge/dispatch could improve. They were an hour and a half late, being scheduled at 9:00. No communication to me until I called at 9:20. I was told traffic was the hold up. After an hour, I called back (no traffic in Charlotte puts you an hour behind). I was told the workers should be there soon. The actual movers called shortly after to say they needed to go to Mooresville to get a dolly and other tools which would take another hour. I let them know I had only boxes, and all that was needed was a truck and movers. They told me they'd be there in 20 mins, and they were. Everything else was smooth sailing. They worked hard, were polite, and got the job done in two hours. Everything was stacked ever so neatly in my storage building. I paid exactly what I was quoted. Stay away!!! I have moved several times in my life and never experienced such unprofessional behavior in my life!! On moving day, no-one showed up! The owner did call and sounded concerned etc. I was upset but I am also a business owner and understand the challenges of employees showing up for work. I was very accommodating and understanding. He said someone would be at my house the following day. Two men did show up but I don't think they had an ounce of moving experience. They were asking me for gloves and supplies!! They were laughing about a mailbox they ran into the day before. Once at our new home they hit our walls and didn't seem concerned. They also damaged a door. We called the owner and he said he would call his insurance company to submit a claim but once he does that "HE IS DONE WITH US" In the end he never did submit a claim and we never heard from him again. Unethical company owner We had been loyal customers of Amen Movers but this last move was fraught with issues. At the top of our list is the fact that the movers were not following proper protocol and backed the moving truck into our car. Lloyd (the owner) doesn't have proper insurance but instead is using insurance through Budget Rental trucks where he rents all of his moving trucks. Lloyd was uncooperative in providing all the information that Budget required to file a claim. After having to jump through tons of hoops to get the claim filed without Lloyd's assistance, Lloyd lied to the claims adjuster about what happened during the accident resulting in our claim being denied. He told the claims adjuster that the moving truck did not back into our car but instead we drove our car into the moving truck?! I'm not sure how anyone would willing drive their car into a truck however since our stories did not match the claims adjuster said there was nothing they could do. When we called Lloyd to further discuss the issue he never answered or returned our multiple calls and texts. If you read previous reviews on this company this seems to be his way of 'handling' any issues his customers have, just ignoring them until they go away instead of being an upstanding citizen and taking responsibility for his company and workers' actions. On top of this, we had several issues with our actual move as well. To start off, the movers showed up late and reeked of weed. I don't really care if you smoke weed, but when I'm paying you hourly and you're doing something that slows down your performance then I see that as an issue. All furniture is supposed to be wrapped so it's not damaged and doesn't get dirty during the move, this did not happen. We had some wood stairs that were not properly wrapped and ended up very scratched. Also we have white dining room chairs and a banquette that were not wrapped and got dirty during the move. As a result of this one of our movers left for about an hour to go somewhere to purchase cleaning supplies. We were still charged for the hour he was gone and not working! During the guys lunch break one of the movers tried to sell us some Gucci belts and shirts that he sells on the side, I did not think that was very professional. They also underestimated our job and didn't bring a large enough truck to fit everything in one trip. Again, when you're paying by the hour this makes a big difference. Since we finished so late my husband had to get up early the next day to meet the movers at our old house so they could move everything else that wasn't brought on the first trip. Finally, they don't take credit cards and all checks or Venmo payments go straight to Lloyd the owner instead of being made out to the company...sounds like tax evasion to me. Below is the review I posted on Angieslist and Google on August 13, 2019. I just now came to Yelp looking for my next movers -- instead of these guys. ---- A bad experience overall. I was clear about my needs for packing storage and transport. I gave an itemized list. I didn't know who was in charge on site, but they took turns telling me things. One told me he didn't use lists. They didn't bring packing material nor boxes, nor the truck at first. They brought things outside without boxing them. They shoved paintings in a box without packing each one securely. One guy did virtually nothing except break a lamp -- they billed me for his time and didn't pay for the lamp. Lloyd told me they had straps for my container but one guy said it's all his personally purchased and couldn't leave it so they used one of my boat lines. They were to bring a few items to Habitat, but said Lloyd wanted to look through them first since I was donating them. I typically don't review companies to be honest, but I have a great deal of pleasure in writing this one. My first contact with Lloyd (the owner) was extremely pleasant and very professional- (actually a company that answers it's phone if you can believe that!) he was empathetic to my plight...My plight- I was going through an extremely nasty divorce (doesn't get much nastier) and the judicial system gave me 12 hours (one bloody day) to move all of my personal belongings out of a 9K tri-level sq ft home... almost an impossible task especially with quite a few heavy odd shape items.... and a lovely ex wife that could be very volatile as you can imagine - I can just see her screaming at my movers.. Never the less, Lloyd embraced the situation and will bring his "A" crew with the understanding that they will not wreak any havoc with my current situation... because any trouble that the movers might cause could force my hand and have us removed from the premises by local law enforcement... then it's back to court... Now I'm a HUGE fan of taking care of manual laborers, especially movers.... you get what you pay for- I alerted him that I would be willing to pay the whole 12 hours (even if they finish early) as well as very generous tip for all the guys that show up... People need to understand don't tip afterwards in my opinion- these type of guys are generally underpaid and work extremely hard for their hourly wage... let them know there is incentive there to get the work done safely, in a timely fashion and without damage to your valuables... these are your worldly possessions... Well moving day arrived... actually 8 guys showed up on time and ready to go... yes the truck was a bit late, because of the lovely 150 Plaza traffic, but that was minor... these guys were just so nice and very respectable.... even moved some of my wife's things... now understand that I had ZERO time to box anything up which they were well aware of... they even helped box up some of my stuff and trust me you're talking about a lot of fragile goods that I had feared I do not have the luxury of time to properly package these items... they treated these boxes like body parts.... 2 guys to a box, so no damage was done... NONE... and you should have seen how my glasses and dishes and other fragile items were thrown into these cartons without any packing material.... again job bloody well done.... got me moved into my place all in the span of about 9 hours... I was happy to pay the 12 hours with the tip.... In ending, you need to have your head examined if you don't seriously consider hiring these guys if you do move.. and again remember these guys work extremely hard for their pay... tip them well.. what comes around goes around... just my two cents read more

We only moved 15 miles away but it was 5000 square-foot reduction and how size and there was quite a bit of stuff to sort organize and get to storage and the new house. They were flexible when we had a slight change of plans and upfront with what they could and could not do from the start and most of it was I could! Here is a review from wife that appears to have been removed/deleted: I am not normally one to complain publicly but I think sometimes it's important to spread the word. This is my recent encounter with Amen Mover of Huntersville. Amen Mover was not what we were expecting. I called and got a quote over the phone for 2 days of moving & one night of storage on the truck. Lloyd Benson, owner, was very nice that day over the phone and sold me with his customer service. He asked me to text back the details of our conversation because he was out of town. After I sent that long and detailed text of our conversation, Lloyd never responded back. I sent back 2 more messages over the next few days asking if he got the text or not and got no response. Finally I called and asked if he was getting my messages and his response was no but you are on the books. Ok... maybe it was a phone issue and the text were not going through, so I moved on. 2 weeks prior to moving day, I text a complete run down of our previous conversation, once again. In this text, I left out no details and listed every piece of furniture we had, along with outdoor furniture, amount of boxes, storage containers, etc. The response back from Lloyd was "you are on the books". I checked in again, the next week and again was told that we are "on the books". The day before moving Lloyd calls and once again, verbally, I go over every detail of what was planned with moving, amount of furniture, cleaning of the home, final walk-through of new buyers, etc so that we were all on the same page with the time schedule. He understands and promises all is good. Moving day comes and 2 guys show up as promised! Yay, I'm happy! However, once they looked around they said the truck was not big enough. They tried calling Lloyd but no answer. Therefore, they (the 2 guys) filled up the truck they brought and my husband and I worked 5hrs straight to fill up 4 personal trailers (2 of which we had to call around to borrow from friends and spend time running around getting the trailers). The gentlemen working were super nice and very professional and I have no issues with them. The owner however; refused to respond to the guys asking for help and another truck. I tried to call, left a voicemail and sent a text message to which he NEVER replied to me. Then at the end of the day, the guys ask for payment and the price for the 1 day is the price that I was quoted originally for both days (day 1 to load, day 2 to unload). I tried calling Lloyd to discuss and again, no response. Next day, the guys show up as planned to unload (luckily bringing 1 more guy with them) and once again my husband and I help unload our trailers while the guys unload the truck. We literally worked 2 days in a row helping the movers we hired and still paid double the price for the job (not including an additional $500 in tips for the guys who did work really hard 2 days in a row as well). I understand about misunderstanding and maybe even miscommunication so my complaint is that the owner was not responsive to his crew or me, his customer. We are now 5 days post move and the owner still has not called or text me. As a business owner, he should explain how he quoted us incorrectly, why he did not want to correct the mistake by sending more guys or another truck and/or why he never once tried to make anything right. They quoted a price which was $115 less than what they actually charged, so they were dishonest. Their reasoning was working 3 hours versus 2 but even then, the math does not add up after the breakdown of hours worked and the price of the truck. This is not professional and they didn't even apologize for being 30 min late. They only had three items to move so there was no other issue that would justify the dishonest pricing. read more

First off, just look at the 26+ "other reviews that are not currently recommended" list of comments. My wife and I used Amen Movers a few months back and to get to the point, I would highly recommend using any other company in the area. Thinking about our experience even a few months' later gets us fired up and irritated. To start off, we were the first move of the day and the movers were well over an hour late. They made no effort to contact us and we had to call multiple times to check on the status of where our movers were only to have them say they were close by/on the way. This caused issues with our reservation of the freight elevator at our apartment. The men who helped us move were ill-equipped as they did not have any furniture dollies or anything to move multiple boxes at once. Additionally, they moved incredibly slow and in my opinion were milking the hourly pay. We've used multiple movers in the past and have gone longer distances but this job easily took an extra 1-2 hours longer due to the movers not being prepared and moving incredibly slow. All we had was a smaller apartment (~700 sq. ft.) and a small storage unit plus I helped carry half of our belongings to their truck working side by side with the movers. The move was less than 20 miles away too and we didn't get done until late in the afternoon/early evening. Trying to understand the reason for the delay, the pricing which was estimated to be significantly less than the final outcome, and being inconvenienced by missing our apartment check-out time due to the slow moving process, we called Lloyd to discuss our experience to which he quickly became defensive, irate, and threatened to call the police on us if we didn't pay. The movers even know Lloyd has a short fuse and is a loose cannon. Amen Movers never made anything right for our experience and Lloyd never apologized once for what happened. Amen Movers works like a well oiled machine! The three gentlemen that moved all of our belonging from a packed 26 foot trailer into a 3 bedroom house and a storage space did not miss a beat. They coordinated their effort so there was not one wasted movement. They all had a positive attitude and did not spend time on their phones or in private conversation. They packed the storage space extremely well and we can get at everything. They added an additional person to fit our particular problem. This cut the overall time needed in half. We filed a police report as Lloyd told us to so he could use his insurance to give us our money for our missing property. These guys saved us. We contracted with Sure Safe in Terrell to handle our move. Sure Safe called the Friday morning of our moving day to cancel because it was raining. They couldn't just postpone until the next day, they said they could do it on Monday instead, which was too late for us. So we scrambled, and Amen took the job late on Friday, the owner came out to make sure he understood the scope of the job (sure safe just estimated off of number of rooms). They were there first thing Saturday morning. They were cheaper, put more people on the job, and worked through the August heat like no one I've ever seen. You can tell a lot about a company when you hear their workers when the owner isn't around. They are treated well, which means we were treated well. We couldn't be more pleased or more grateful. We were the first move scheduled for the day and the movers were an hour and 15 minutes late, smoked on the job, didn't have furniture dollies, and were incredibly slow. When you're paying hourly, it makes a pretty significant difference. We have never had a move take so long and we had moved 1/3 of our stuff ahead of time and removed all of the blankets and plastic wrap ourselves. The worst part of our experience was that the owner, Lloyd, actually started threatening us. Kind, genuine people deserve your business, so I would give the opportunity to a different moving company. They damaged 2 items during our move one of which I caught right away ,another (aTV) which was less then a year old, when we turned on had black spots and lines running through it. When I called to complain he said because there was no outside damage he wasn't responsible and how did he not know it could have already been broken. He transported ours tvs in his own car and I learned later never wrapped them. I can assure you I wouldn't have paid someone to move an already broken tv! We recently used Amen Movers to move an hour out of town. I was impressed with the price and owner's ability to accommodate our move schedule/time. We were told 9:00 start time, even confirming the night before a 9:00 start. The day of I receive a text at 9:30 they are picking up the truck. At 10:45 they arrive and get started. The men were very polite and were willing to help and move anything we asked. Then when we arrived at our new place we had multiple things dirty and damaged. Our couch was torn on the back with many dirty spots, boxes were dropped resulting in several of my china bowls broken. When my husband called the owner to address our concerns he seemed "bothered" and wanted us to work it out with the guys on the job. In the end they did compromise and take money off of the move to compensate. All in all an affordable option but you get what you pay for as far as service. read more

They meticulously wrapped everything in my moving blankets & wrapped with cellophane. I had a bunch of fragile pictures and mirrors and everything arrived without a scratch. I have moved 19 times, and if I ever move again, I will always call Lloyd!! I hired Amen because of the reviews on Yelp, so my expectations were pretty high. Yet, this company still managed to greatly exceeded my expectations! I contacted Lloyd through Yelp and he got back to me right away. During my initial phone consultation, I found Lloyd to be very professional. We agreed on a date and time for my move, and Lloyd contacted me to confirm the day before. On the morning of my move, the foreman, Will, arrived a few minutes early to assess the job. He was very professional, knowledgable, and assured me that him and his crew would be conscious of the time during every phase of my move, since I was paying by the hour. From the moment the truck and crew arrived, these men worked very efficiently and carefully. In my opinion, part of the reason that they were so efficient is because they seemed to have a camaraderie, got along very well, respected one another, and seemed to really enjoy what they were doing. They worked as a true team, with the common goal of moving my home as quickly as possible, and without damaging anything. They did this successfully, and when they left at the end of the day, I knew that they had done a great job, and did not take advantage of me by working slowly so that they could bill me for more time. What really put Amen Movers over the top was what happened the next day. While I was moving, I had told Will that I wasn't taking my couch because I sold it on LetGo. He really liked it and said that if the buyer didn't show up he might be interested in buying it. The buyer never showed up to buy the couch, so when I called Lloyd later that night to thank him for a seamless experience with my move, I told him that I'd like to express my gratitude to Will by giving him the couch. Lloyd thought that was very nice, and offered to come pick it up the next morning and deliver it to Will. When Lloyd arrived the next morning, I was in my driveway talking to 2 men from "Junk King" that I had called to pick up some items that I did not want to take with me when I moved. It was quite a bit of stuff...enough to fill a 10 yard dumpster. The "Junk King" told me at that moment that they wanted $800 to dispose of these items, that were all neatly stacked in my driveway. That was more money than Lloyd had charged me for 4 men to spend the whole day before moving my entire house!!!! As Lloyd walked up the driveway, I excused myself from these 2 men to show Lloyd the couch he was there to pick up. I told him in private that these guys wanted to charge me $800 to haul & dump the items from my driveway, and he was appalled that they were trying to rip me off. He said he absolutely could not let that happen. He went outside and told the "Junk Kings" that they could leave, and LLoyd & I spent 1 hour loading up his truck. He, of course, still had to go to the landfill to dump my stuff, and then come back to pickup the couch. Lloyd didn't ask me for ANY MONEY, and actually THANKED ME for giving him the opportunity to do something nice for someone!!!! Not only does Lloyd run a respectable business that does right by his clients, but he also genuinely cares about his employees. He is a philanthropist, and a good man, looking to do God's work by seeking out opportunities to help others. If you are looking to move in the Cornelius, Huntersville, Mooresville area, or even out of state, I would recommend contacting Lloyd Benson for a quote. I assisted my sister with the move out of her home, in which she chose Two (Tired) Men and a Truck. We had nothing but nightmares working with them. She found a new place to live within 2 weeks, so now we needed to move her items out of storage. This time, I asked the storage facility manager who they recommend, and I was handed Lloyd Benson's card. I hired 3 guys for LESS than the price of 2 guys. This move from her storage unit to her new home took 5 hours total (the first move took over 9 hours, and they didn't even get all the items out of her house - and we had 2 additional Tired Men and their Truck come over from another job to assist)! Lloyd met me at the storage unit, and introduced me to his crew of Zack, Zack & Steven. They were young and energized! They worked well together, brought gallons of cold spring water to keep themselves hydrated, and kept the flow moving at a reasonable pace. They set up the beds at the new home, and were courteous and efficient. I tipped them since they saved us $$ and all of our items arrived safely.
