So I did: SFO to Denver to Joplin. The Joplin airport is small, attractive, modern, and has two rental car options (Avis, Budget), plus all the TSA personnel and security equipment as required. On the return flight, the agent checked my bags through to SFO upon arrival, I went through security, and joined the other passengers in the comfortable boarding area. I had to wait a bit once, being early, because the ticket agent wasn't yet on duty. When they had finished checking the passengers in, they walked over to the TSA area (about 50 steps away, no joke). Then we were checked in and through TSA in about 5 minutes. On the other side, there's a be stage center and a vending machine. Probably an available, working outlet to charge a phone. It was also clean, pleasant, and not crowded. Did I mention the free parking?! This airport gets 4 stars only because it's so small there aren't many airlines or direct destinations. But by all means, fly into Joplin if you can. Springfield is big, bustling, brash. Joplin is a GEM!

After I arrived, however, I was told the price was $700 per month. There was no written lease or rental agreement explaining the difference. I paid the $700 for the first month. The following month I was charged another $700. Then I received a bill for $738 with no itemization explaining the additional $38. When I questioned the difference between the advertised $500 rate and the $700 I was being charged, management refused to correct the website price. I was also told that what I was paying was a "subscription" rather than rent, which I found very strange. For comparison, I eventually moved to another RV park. They charge $450 per month plus electric, exactly as advertised, and I received a clear receipt showing what I paid and what the deposit was for. My issue isn't simply that Camp Mi Casa charges $700. A business can charge whatever it wants. My problem is advertising one price and then charging a different price after the customer arrives, without a written agreement or clear itemized billing. I would strongly recommend getting the exact monthly price, all fees, and the terms in writing before committing to a stay at Camp Mi Casa. My experience was enough that I chose to take my business elsewhere.

I called Hertz and they said it would be a $12.99 fee (as it states on the website). I receive my bill and I have a $500 additional charge and told it's because I dropped the car off at another airport. Apparently, this isn't Hertz Corporate, it is a franchise location and they do not allow that. 1) They did not try to work with me at all. They recognized that Hertz was misleading and I essentially couldn't have known. I even offered to pay a partial fee. 2) Called Hertz support while trying to make a flight and they told me the charge, plus it is on the website (see photo). Its a design to get people to pay extra-large fees that they are not aware of. 3) I was told that I should always read the fine print of every contract signed which is absurd. Theoretically, yes, but they know well and clear none of their customers are going to read pages of legal jargon. Especially when I called the number on my billing statement. 4) When I asked at their counter they said they weren't sure and to contact hertz, which apparently I was not supposed to do. Really unfortunate to treat customers like that. I don't have huge spending power with them or any empty threat like that, but its just poor business practices. Please beware.

Me and my mother just checked into our room, and I can already tell that we're going to have an…read moreawesome staycation. For starters, the male at the front desk is very professional. I also appreciate how they have a large snack bar, breakfast, ice cream, and bottled water. In fact, I'm currently having an apple while writing this review. Our king suite is very clean and organized. Although we won't be needing it, I like the idea of a curtain separating the bed from the rest of the suite. And I also like the night light for the restroom. The sliding door for the restroom is slightly difficult to find at first, but that wasn't that much of an issue for us. The air conditioner is somewhat loud, but I feel like it could be used as white noise for people who enjoy ASMR, white noise, ETC. The chair that goes with the desk is somewhat bouncy, but comfortable. I enjoy spinning in it. I also like the mini kitchen. Not that we personally will be needing the dishwasher, it's still nice to have. I appreciate how all of the floors have ice machines. The one on the 4th floor is out of order at the moment, but they haven't put a sign up stating that. I quite enjoy the general layout of our suite. The restroom is very cozy. Small, modern, and minimalist, which really suits my style. The shower was very comfortable as well, the water warm. To top it all off, I enjoyed my second cup of hot chocolate from the lobby--it's been a cozy little experience. I had a good night's sleep overall. However, the neighboring room had their TV on quite loudly, and I could faintly hear it through the wall while lying in bed. The air conditioner also woke me up a few times during the night. The selection of breakfast food was decent. It took a little while for my mom to figure out how to use the waffle machine, though. A sign with instructions would be nice. There were plenty of places to sit. It's slightly difficult to find where you put the dirty trays. I also think there should be a sign with instructions for that. It's very quiet down there, which I apperciate. The check out process is very simple and fast. We will be back in the near future.

I gave them a great review then. But now? Eww. Basically $200 a night for a one king bed room held not any kind of expected value. 1. The mattress was as old as the hotel, smelled musty and was hard as a rock (with a random 3 pillows). 2. The pool has slippery porcelain tile around it. I've not used a pool at their Hilton brand before and maybe this is typical for them. With that said, if you or your family are going to use the pool, TAKE WATER SHOES! 3. The pool area was 1 million degrees. Actually, it was 138 degrees. Outside was nearly 100 but we opened both outside doors for cross ventilation and that helped, considerably. 4. The breakfast was hideous. I had to check my watch to see if it was closing bc so many things were completely empty. 8:10 am on a Sunday. Still a long time remaining on their (un)complimentary breakfast. And the coffee? Don't get me started. 5. I requested extra pillows about 8:00 pm. They finally brought 2, hours later... without pillowcases. Was that a joke?!?! 6. The outdoor furniture that was cozy and fun to sit outside and chat with 3 years ago has literally SHREDDED cushions. (Is the goal to NOT have people outside?) This hotel has to be a franchise, with a completely careless owner. I'll never go back. 2 stars earned for location alone.
