Save yourself time and potential negative project results - just call American Arborists first. Sadly, a 35' Austrian pine in my side yard died over only a two week period. (Well taken care of, watered properly, no insects; probably just not enough open land around such a mature tree.) I called American Arborists at the referral of a landscape company I trust. (I had not idea who to call as the 5 arborist companies I had worked with in the past ranged from 'just OK' to 'shouldn't be in business'). Scheduling the free estimate appointment was as easy as it gets; they came the next day, quote was received the day after that and, even though their schedule was packed for well over 2 weeks they fit me in 8 days hence as I was concerned about the fire hazard with the lighting we were getting in upper NW Reno. (2 trees in the neighborhood were hit last year.) Grant in the office was wonderful. At first I wanted the stump ground out, then I thought I'd leave it to make a 'yard art' Hobbit house, then my husband nixed that idea. Grant just flowed with all the changes back and forth. (In the end we had the stump ground out.) The 'A Team' (Ray, Josh and Ryan) arrived exactly on schedule, confirmed the work to be done and explained how they were going to go about it. My neighbor had a truck parked in her driveway right next to the planter bed the tree was in. The truck could not be moved (long story). This meant they had to rope each branch on that side and lift them down vs. just being able to drop them. Although they let us know in advance it could possibly take longer than the estimated quote time of 2 hours due to this, they still had everything done right at the 2 hours. (By the way, the quote was $80 less than the other two I received). The stump was ground out to well below 6" ground level, and all much removed as requested. Very efficient and they didn't stop for a minute. Cleanup was perfect, Very professional, very knowledgeable and very pleasant crew. On time, on budget. Doesn't get better than that. Entirely pleased with the professionalism, communication, efficiency, and safety all of the crew showed during the removal of our large Sequoia last weekend. Tiffany in the office always had a positive attitude and swift response before, during, and after the process. Ty, Shawn, and Mikey all displayed patience and updates when the crane had mechanical issues on scheduled day, keeping us in the loop hourly until rescheduling for the following day. On day of removal, Ty, Mikey, and Caleb again showed up promptly, worked together enthusiastically with the crane operator in thorough, impressive communication so the process went smoothly, safely, and efficiently. They cleaned up every piece of debris in the front on the street where the branches and trunk were dismantled and all debris in the backyard where the removal happened. I was deeply moved with the teamwork amongst them and the understanding all guys had for the emotional feelings my dad and I had removing this tree that had been such a part of our family history for 25 years. They even put up with our request to keep a few slabs of the tree and Caleb showed extreme pride in cutting those pieces with purpose, knowing what we had planned. They absolutely made the disheartening event more bearable and even pleasant. Whatever arborist needs we have in the future, these guys will be used and requested. Our neighbors and whole neighborhood were also extremely impressed and mentioned their intention of using American Arborists in the future. I've used American Arborists annually for the past five years. Their work and service has always been outstanding. A few weeks ago I called to see if I could get a quote on work for me and one of my very senior neighbors. Josh came out within two days and did a walk through with me and met my neighbor. He was professional, answered all of our questions, and was very kind and respectful. He provided each of us a very reasonable quotes before the end of the day, and work was scheduled (at our convenience) for yesterday (1/21). Yesterday, our team of Gage, Gabe, and Trey arrived on time, introduced themselves to me and my neighbor, went over each part of the work we had requested before starting, and then proceeded to do an excellent job. They checked with each of us as our jobs were progressing to make sure we were happy with what they were doing, and then made sure our yards were clean and neat before leaving. American arborists just completed a complex and difficult job on my two huge old poplars, covered with 35+ years of English ivy, removing dead wood on the trees, removing the ivy, and shaping (directing the growth) on the remaining live branches on the trees. Shawn was very professional and listened to my concerns around saving the trees. He understood the growth patterns of trees and worked very carefully to preserve the living portions, and he is amazingly capable maneuvering that huge bucket in and around the branches. Devin likewise was very knowledgeable and was as careful as possible to avoid landscape lighting on the ground area where they were working. Devin was courteous and responsive to my requests to cut all available trimmings to fireplace length, and really went above and beyond in cleaning the yard, drive, and street when the job was completed. These two men are the dream crew for your tree-trimming work. Josh gave me a comprehensive and thorough estimate for all work with a highly trained eye toward the preservation of the trees, with courtesy and professionalism. We have a retail location, with most of the selling space outdoors. We hired American Arborists to come out to trim a cottonwood and a dead willow, both of which hung out over a public space. After several other tree companies said they would not touch the trees and city and state arborists also refused to trim and abate the trees, American Arborists said they could do it without difficulty. Because we are open to the public, it was imperative that the job be done quickly and cleanly, with all debris moved from the property and large logs cut into fire wood. They did a tremendous job! Nothing was broken (and a lot could have been as there were landscaping structures under the trees and glass market lights dangling between the tree and the chopper), everything was clean, and the crew was very knowledgable, professional, articulate, and respectful. They also did not mind doing a couple of small trimming jobs to help us with some overgrown landscaping. Anyway, we highly recommend these guys! read more

I have a magnificent 35-year-old Red Oak in my backyard that has started to outgrow its space. I was quite apprehensive about reducing its height and spread. James initially evaluated the work, listened to my concerns and provided me with recommendations including how much could be trimmed safely. Pablo and Colin arrived on time the scheduled day with a "light weight bucket" tractor that proved invaluable to reach the tree height and width from my neighbor's drive. Pablo thoroughly discussed the project again helping me decide how much to remove, almost "branch by branch". I watched as he considered each cut and then meticulously and artistically carved a new shape for the tree. His work was precise, deliberate and well-coordinated with Colin who provided another perspective from the ground. Josh came out back in January to provide me with an estimate and he was very knowledgeable on what types of trees I had. And when I needed to make adjustments to my estimate, Sky came out and was excellent as well. My services took place on April 6th and grinding April 7th. The guys who came out on the 6th were very professional and cleaned up the yard very nicely. However, when someone returned on the 7th for the stump grinding, they massacred my solar lights my mom bought for me. They kindly left them on my porch in pieces. They were only a few bucks but my mom doesn't have much to spend and it was her gift to me on my new house. I am not expecting any replacement on them, but I felt like I should tell you about it before I considered doing a public review on your company. I just want to give a shout out to American Arborists. They gave me a quote when other companies wouldn't show up or return phone calls. How you can run a business by ignoring potential clients, I'll never know. AA not only quoted a good price, they stuck by it. On the day of the appointment they rolled up to the house like Swat, swarmed into my front yard, jumped into a bucket lift and within minutes it was raining wood chips. They were in and out before I could finish breakfast. A tip of the hat and a bow at the waist to the team who tamed that beast of a tree in my front yard, I'll be calling you back for more. This isn't a review for work performed, but I honestly felt compelled to give a very positive shoutout to both Grant, whom I was in communication with through my Yelp app, and Joel, who actually came out to Cold Springs to give us an estimate. We needed our very large, dying pine tree taken down and some general spring cleanup in the front and back yards. Joel was very knowledgeable about the trees and plants in our yard and was very easy to communicate with. On 8/9/18 I had American Arborists' Crew 4 (Red) come to my home to trim 3 large trees. Pablo & Isaac. These 2 gentlemen were punctual, courteous, knowledgeable, informative and very friendly. They explained everything they were going to do before they started, they asked my opinion more than once about the work as it was being done and they gave me advice about how to care for my trees in the future. I'm going to have the same crew come back in the fall to do some more work on my trees. I would recommend this company and their technicians with the highest compliments I can give. They were wonderful. Cleaned up every last trace of their work,..... and my trees look a-mazing!! I'm VERY happy I listened to my sister who recommended them to me after they did her giant sycamore. This was our first experience with American Arborists of Reno and, wow!, what a great team! We had a 50' Ponderosa Pine that had been hit by lightening about 20 years ago. The top had two large limbs that were dead and hanging over the garage roof. Ty came out and looked over the situation and provided us with an estimate. Their system allows them to prepare the estimate and email it to the customer during the visit. We accepted online and were scheduled for the next week. Gage and his crew came to the door, let us know they were starting and got right to work. It's amazing to watch them operate - excellent teamwork and no wasted motions. They lowered the biggest hazards safely down and carted it all off. Then they fertilized the tree to keep it growing.
