We could not be more thankful to American Canine University for their work with our sisters-from-different-misters, Piper and Alex. We had a really good experience with Milo's 2-week training program. From the beginning, the team was very supportive and communicative, sending us updates and videos during his stay, which really helped since we missed him so much. When Milo came home, we immediately noticed improvements with commands, structure, place, heel, crate training, and overall behavior inside the house. The trainers took the time to teach us how to continue the training at home and answered all of our questions patiently. What we appreciate the most is that their support did not end after pickup. There is something magical happening inside the fences at American Canine Academy. I brought my dog, Chief, in for some further obedience training after adopting him and working on behavioral issues myself and the trainers here were able to get him to that next level of obedience. He was booked into a 2 week board and train where I regularly received update videos and reports about his progress, what has been worked on since the last update and what is going to be worked on moving forward. Leaving my dog for 2 weeks was not easy but every update I received brought with it comfort in knowing he was happy, safe, and taken care of. I travel around 20 days out of the month for work so my dog is also boarded here when I don't have family or friends that can watch him. Every time I bring my dog here, he knows what is about to happen and you can tell he really does enjoy spending time here. He gets incredibly excited during the drive and when we arrive, and I attribute that to the amount of attention and love that he receives while he is staying here. My schedule is pretty chaotic so there are constant changes to my dogs boarding including early pick ups, cancellations, extensions, changing of pick up times and the crew here has been so understanding, helpful, reassuring and flexible with my schedule and I am eternally grateful! On top of all of that, they also offer group classes on Saturdays and Sundays (Sundays just started which is very welcomed) so you can further your dogs obedience training and the trainers can watch you with your dog and correct your human behaviors as well as the dog behaviors. We had an outstanding experience with American Canine Academy in Commerce City, and I can confidently say it made a lasting impact on both our dog and us as owners. About a year ago, our dog Maddie (who was 5 at the time) went through ACA's one-month immersion training program. My husband and I have been absolutely thrilled with the work American Canine Academy does. Our dog Maggie generally needed to learn her basic training and had high reactivity to dogs. To the point where she could not see another dog without going into barking and lunging behaviors. This made it hard to keep her under control and led to us signing up. During their Immersion Basic program Maggie was boarded with their trainers for a few weeks. During this time, I received weekly personalized report cards that included photos and videos of her progress. Their team was very attentive and answered any questions I had via email and text while she was away. After a few weeks of working with Sean and Melanie, Maggie was sitting in the same room as another dog. Something we thought would be impossible not too long ago. Our dog Ozzy is a different boy! He's a black lab and we've had him since he was 8 weeks old. Being pretty dog savvy we foolishly thought we could manage training him. For the most part, the basic commands were easy enough (he's a smart dog and does love to please) but, our main issue was him bolting during a walk to go see people or dogs that were along our path. So, one broken wrist and innumerable scraped knees and elbows later (not to mention a LOT of embarrassment) we decided we needed the professionals to help us out. And let me tell you...they sure did. We selected in two-week camp, titled "Freedom Foundations" Off-Leash Immersion program. The toughest part was leaving him and not being able to visit him! But, by the end of our intake interview, I could tell it was a very loving vibe and felt no doubt that he would be fine. Additionally, about every 3 days, they send you a very extensive written, pictorial and video report. That was priceless! We picked him up this past Wednesday and were just amazed at the transition from wild, crazy pup (he's 15 months old) to the same sweet doll he was when we dropped him off but COMPLETELY controllable. We live in a high-rise condo which is populated with many wonderful dogs that we encounter regularly in taking Ozzy out for walks (4 or 5 times a day). Thus, we get regular opportunities to test his skills and to improve ours! It's very important to know that you will need to continue the training with your pup to, not only hone your skills as a handler but to reinforce to your pup your expectations for his behavior. This place changed my life. Our dog was so out of control that we could barely have guests over because he'd jump all over them or bark the whole time if we put him in another room. This was after going through two obedience classes at another place. He was a rescue and came to us with behavioral issues that couldn't be solved without the intensive training that we found at American Canine Academy. He went through the 6-week training where he worked heavily with Isaac and he came back an entirely different dog. He now listens to commands and places in his bed when we have guests over. He's not perfect and still tests us but that just takes time with us continuing to reinforce his training and show him that he has to respect us and that we won't let him get away with his old behaviors. Another perk is that he and our other dog that used to not get along are now pretty much okay with each other. We just got back from an overnight trip which would have never been a possibility to take our dog with us before, much less both of them. I knew Sean for a few years before taking in our aggressive dog for training. We had a rescue that was severely abused for about 2 years before we got him and he immediately became overly protective of our family and tried (and succeeded once) to bite everyone who came within a large berth of all of our family members. Both the manager and the owner reached out to us regarding our issues that occurred with our stays. The owner stated he went back and reviewed the security system on our most recent stay and found some areas of concern. We discussed the issues and the owner stated that my interaction and experience was not what should have happened with our dogs. Our experience was with the overall stay in general and not with any single employee. We appreciate the owner and manager reaching out to us and attempting to rectify the situation. We have been assured that our concerns will be addressed and they will make steps to make sure this doesn't happen in the future for other pet owners. I actually had my Golden here for training about 3 years ago and was very happy. Recently we went to Mexico and for the first time in the 3 years we've had her, couldn't take her with us. Everyone always talks about these pet sitter websites, so I'd thought I'd give it try. All I met were a bunch of flakes who didn't call me back or had 3 other large dogs in their 1 bed room apartment and wanted way more then ACA. I was their client for years and was comfortable enough to leave him under your care for months at a time. I left him there 2-3 months at the time I visit my original country. And many days for multiple times. The last time I left him there from 4-21-21 till 5-10-21. When I first arrived at the facility I saw to young girls leashed 2 different dogs sleeping quietly at the entrance outside. They explained "these 2 dogs are so vicious, so we are watching them." And all the other dogs were caged. I did not ask them how come they did not cage the vicious ones and let the other dogs to play. It appeared that are enjoying the shady front yard instead of taking care of the dogs as they were supposed to. they were sitting next to dogs and chatting with their cellphones at their hands. I was in Miami for my birthday vacation, and I called three times last two voicemails during my stay but did not get any answers, sent 3 text messages "how is my dog doing" and did not get any reply. I also emailed two times explaining my dog is old and he has cancer, and I am terribly worried about him. I basically begged somebody to call back to tell me that my dog was okay.  I taught he was dead, and I was simply being avoided by bad news. Sean was there when I picked up my dog 17 days later. I was almost hysterical when I saw him, I didn't say anything and did not check anything that I was simply so relieved to see he was alive. When I left my dog to your care,  he was 91 pounds. When I get it from them, he was a 78 lbs. He lost 13 pounds in 17 days! You can imagine it is more than 10% of his total body weight. There is no way he concludes that if he was properly fed. He has great appetites because of age and hypothyroidism. And I believe he was not eating all the food I left for him. I even string cheeses to give his hypothyroid medication in it. I wonder if he was ever received his hypothyroid medication. His front paws were completely red with no hair because obviously he was licking them like crazy. There was no hair or skin left, almost open wound. This happens when he is very stress and excessive boredom. Which tells me he was not being cared and was not let him to get socialized. He was being caged for 17 days straight. He acted like he was in delirium two days at home. He was not like himself, he was rushing to leave the place. He did not even looked at me or wagged his tail. It is impossible for him not to jump and being ecstatic when he sees me days later. Clearly, he was excessively stress and traumatized during two weeks stay in that "dog dungeon for torture" facility. When I pick him up, I did not check the bag. I realized they forgot to put his hypothyroid medication back to the bag. I asked so many times to mail his expansive medication to my address. And I live in Boulder Colorado, takes me 2 Hours drive to get his medication from. And I was simply ignored. Nobody ever answered me at all. You still have his medication in the facility. And I simply gave up that somebody is going to act responsibility. Obviously, it is a failure to return all the possessions to the rightful owner. I understand that is very hard to find employees during pandemic. So many businesses struggling. What they chose to do is they close their departments, or completely not taking any clients or stop giving any services to the public whatsoever. I see restaurants limiting their tables because they cannot find servers. If I knew this was going to happen, I would rather die than leaving my dog under their care. And it is SEAN's responsibility as the business owner to monitor/supervise the performance of your team and safety of their clients. You could simply choose not to take any doubts if you do not have proper staffing and supervision to your team. I had purchased a 20 day package. Obviously, I never got a refund the rest of the package I will never use. I cannot tell you how much I suffered for many months. I was not able to dare to write this review any earlier. Because I have been as traumatized as my dog. I'm feeling so guilty that I left him in such terrible condition while I was trying to have fun in my birthday trip. 4 months later he died from abdominal bleeding due to cancer. I am devastated a business owner serve to his clients in such poor ethical, immoral, cruel and irresponsible way. What happened to my dog is animal abuse and severe neglect. And later I received an email from him explaining about poor reviews and "false accusations" on web. I checked and I saw pics and videos a dog being chocked to dead in a training session. It was a brand new young trainer- not him as he advertised. Clearly she had no idea what she was doing. This place needs to be closed down and he should go bankrupt. I CAN NOT BELIEVE THAT PLACE IS STILL OPEN AND HE IS STILL RECEVING DOGS! We are not living in a safe society. This is true evil and they all have no shame they all working there. read more

We sent our Doodle to American Canine for their 6-week Immersion program. Not only was the check-in/drop-off process easy but we also received weekly training updates and videos of our dog's progress. I could also call/text for updates anytime as well. Our dog ended up staying for an extra couple of weeks because he's a puppy so he needed a little extra time learning the off-leash portion of the training. Pickup was extremely thorough because we reviewed all of his commands; the whole family (including kids) went through a "human training" session. Lastly, Sean (the owner) as well as his trainers and staff Jasmine and Shawna have been so kind, courteous, and patient during our dog's stay and even followed up to check on him once we got home. It's also icing on the cake that we can now bring our dog for boarding and know that he will be cared for by an attentive and caring staff during his future stays. Our dog, who was notorious for pulling on his leash and difficult to walk, is now a joy to take outside of the house. Isaac trained Kane, our 2 year old GSD, on basic obedience in the board & train program from 12/4/19-1/13/20. Kane came home and was much improved compared to his obedience prior to training. I attended a group class 4 days after his return home and was able to get some clear guidance on maintaining appropriate boundaries with positive reinforcement as well as correction when appropriate- these tips took Kane to excellent obedience. Ten days after Kane came home, we had an individual follow up session to discuss ways to incorporate structure/ obedience, play and mental stimulus while on extended walks (3- 5 miles). Training ($25): We adopted a rescue puppy and decided to take him for a weekly 1/2-hour training class. Jaime and Jasmin (the Trainers) really understand dogs and our puppy responded very well to them. After a few weeks, the puppy had learned all the basic commands--including not eating his food until we gave a command! Plus, we can let him run off leash and he will immediately return on our command! He is only 4-months old! Day Care ($15): 2-3 times per week, we will drop off the puppy for "play day". He gets to socialize with other dogs, play, and gets training too. When we pick him up, he is happy and tired. It really helps him burn off his energy (he is a Terrier, so he has a LOT of energy)! Board & Train: Next week, we will enroll him in the 4-week program to further his training. I will do a follow-up review in November. Summary: We are lucky to have American Canine Academy available to us. Again, Jaime, Jasmin, and all the ladies are very patient, friendly, and professional Trainers. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! read more

Our dog Tyson did the 4 week board and train. Ever since he got home, he is an entirely different dog while walking on the leash! The staff was very receptive to what we wanted Tyson to work on while he was there. After several attempts with different methods of training (even with other trainers), ACA was the only place that made the training stick.
