My experience with this business, "THE MAC PC GUYS," was incredibly disappointing. I rarely write reviews, but I feel compelled to share my ordeal. To start, I'm a 22-year-old Asian American, and although that's not directly relevant, it will become apparent why I mention it later. This appears to be a family-run operation, and initially, I noticed numerous positive reviews. However, upon closer inspection, it's evident that most of these glowing 5-star reviews are likely fake, as pointed out in another review I came across. My laptop's troubles began when I dropped it off on a Thursday. They promised to diagnose the issue by the end of that day or the next, but I received inconsistent answers each time I called. By the following Saturday, no one had even looked at it, and they asked me to call back on Monday. It wasn't until Tuesday that I heard from them. They claimed they needed to send it to "APPLE" for repairs, and I accepted this, paying the quoted amount. They assured me it would take a week, but this turned out to be untrue. Each time I called for an update, they provided a new date, causing further delays. They then informed me I needed a new $100 battery, which I reluctantly agreed to. This cycle continued for a week, and their son even guaranteed I'd have my laptop back on a Tuesday. Once again, they failed to deliver on their promise. To my shock, I discovered they hadn't sent it to Apple at all but to a random third-party company in Texas called "ROSSMAN REPAIR GROUP INC," which is not Apple certified. https://rossmanngroup.com/faq/ I confronted them about this deception, and their response was that it's essentially the same and would save me money. They failed to admit any wrongdoing and reluctantly conceded that "maybe they should've been more forthcoming" i argued and stated that I wouldn't of done business with them if they told me they weren't sending it to apple, When my laptop finally returned to their possession, I requested a discount on the battery replacement due to their poor service, explaining how they did not deliver on the service they promised, and how this is not how business is done,Their son agreed to $75 but couldn't even look me in the eye once while I'm talking to him, but his father, the owner, opposed it the second he heard I was getting a discount, he got defensive saying he's losing money already and playing the victim, He blamed his son for the promises made, putting his hands up saying "it wasn't him" that told me it would be going to apple, he threw his son right under the bus, while mouthing how I'm "2 years old" behind another wall, what a complete joke for a 50 year old In the end, I paid the full $100 plus tax just to be done with it. After charging my card, the owner demanded cash, suspecting that I might dispute the transaction later. That he KNOWS "MY KIND" , word for word what he said, This unwarranted accusation left me baffled. What a racist POS, this man is definitely twice my age saying this, what a complete joke... I advised HIS SON to charge my card and move on, but I ended up waiting an additional 15 minutes while they tried to reverse the refund. I eventually used a different card, resulting in charges on two different cards. In conclusion, I strongly advise against dealing with "THE MAC PC GUYS." Reading the negative reviews on this page should give you a clear picture of what to expect. They are defensive and even resort to offensive remarks in their responses. A++ Last February my wife's '14 MacBook Air died I had friend who works in IT look at and they said the only way to fix it was to take it apart. They recommended I take it to a repair shop. I brought it to Paul he fixed it with a problem. He replaced the logic board and worked great ever since. My friend asked me what I paid and he told me I got a great price. Several weeks later my mother in law dropped her MacBook Air and it needed a new screen without hesitation I brought it back here. Again they fixed it without a problem. It did take a little bit longer because the first screen they ordered and installed didn't meet his standard it it worked but was missing a few pixels and appeared faulty. He ordered a replacement no cost to me. Most other shops would have let the first one slide. Without any questions I will always bring my MacBook here to be fixed A++ read more

I have visited this establishment multiple times. I am surprised by other reviews since my experience has been favorable. They have fixed several of my laptops and an iMac without any issues. Recently I bought a preowned MacBook for my daughter for Chanukah. A few months went by and the wifi card went bad. They gave me an external wifi adapter for free and we tried several times but it just wasn't an easy resolution. I returned with the computer and made a great deal to trade it in and get a newer MacBook with new OS installed and all. It works perfectly and made my daughter a happy little girl on what happens to be her birthday weekend. Thank you to all the people that made this happen. Another great experience. I went to the Apple Store at Walt Whitman Mall and I told them my Mac Book Pro was shutting down at 30% battery life... Apple said the battery failed the minimum health test after their diagnostic. Peter was able to access Apple Care because he is an "authorized service agent" and verify that my Mac Book Pro Retina was having battery issues. Clearly I knew the battery was an issue and he did not diagnose this himself, Apple did at Walt Whitman Mall and @ no Charge! Based on a recommendation by a friend that used to work at American Computer I decided to go there to get the battery replaced as recommended by Apple, where I met the owner, Peter Mormoris. Again, after the recommendation to go to American Computer in Wantagh, NY I brought my Mac Book Pro Retina and was told $75 for the battery plus labor.... Total cost around $250. Several days later they called and mentioned it would be $325 including tax... They said they would have to "Send it out to replace the battery" and would take "Several days to a week." I decided to not replace the battery at this time and they still charged me $75 dollar diagnostic regardless even though it was not posted, not on the service order, and was not told there would be a diagnostic charge if not repaired. So I went back and decided to take it home and was still charged a $75 dollar diagnostic fee. I DO NOT RECOMMEND ANYONE coming here to repair anything.... Bring it to Apple or you deal with a person like Peter! TEXT FROM PETER MORMORIS: "Don't call my employees number and tell him we are full of shit, because someone on yelp tried to rip us off. We are Closed tomorrow! I will return your computer on Tuesday and everything I told you was truthful about the repair and no one will do it better or for less money. DONT GO HERE!!! All the positive reviews are from the owner and his children! Worst experience I've ever had. Person who worked there was incredibly rude and wouldn't even look me in the eye. When I asked him to be nicer he said "what do you want me to do, when the owners son messes up it makes more work for me." The owners son works there and has no idea what he's doing. He then proceeded to complain about how much work he had to do and when I asked for an apology he wouldn't give me one. Don't go here. They don't deserve business. Post script: I contacted the owner who called me a liar and then proceeded to ignore my complaints. I regret ever going there and this store should go out of business. American Computer is an authorized Apple service agent. I've taken several Laptops to them and they have always done a great job. Recently replaced a crack glass screen for our Apple Power Book Pro and installed upgraded SSD hard drive. Machine is now like new. I went in to install bootcamp (windows) on my Macbook Pro because I was having difficulty doing it myself, which was after I installed a new SSD on my computer. I got a call from them Saturday telling me it was ready. When I get there the computer does not work. They said they will look at it another day then get back to me again. I got another call on Monday telling me it was ready. When I get there the computer does not work again. I took my computer back this time saying I didn't want to continue this process. It was most likely the SSD that was causing these issues and wouldn't allow windows to be installed. I got home and aborted the process removing whatever windows partitions were installed on the new SSD. It is not that I doubt their abilities in repair, it most likely wasn't compatible with that SSD, ***THE POINT IS*** it is bad customer service to have someone come in twice to see their computer not working, leaving frustrated as hell each time. and that $75 diagnostic fee they charged hurt too on top of all that frustration. read more

Then I found American Computer....honest, reliable and prompt. They actually pick up the phone when you call, they return calls right away and they complete the work in a timely fashion. Let me start off by saying i rarely write negative reviews for any business just because i could care less or have time. However, this company NEEDS to exposed. I was recommended to this shop by Apple because i was experiencing a gray screen issue with my macbook pro 2011. I dropped off the Macbook and was charged 170 on the spot for Diagnostic Charge and Memory Backup. I approved and went on. A few days later i was given a call that the SATA cable needs to be replaced to which i again approved. The total charge came out to around 260 at this point. I picked up the comp a few days later and brought it home. NOTHING CHANGED. SAME PROBLEM. Had to bring it back once again to rediagnose(was not charged for this). They found it to be that the Hardrive was messed up. They said the charge for the 500gb hard drive was $130.00. I looked up the EXACT model and name of the hardrive that was described to me and found it on amazon for $60.00. Even after telling the associate this, to which he had no response, i agreed to the price only because it had been 2 weeks by this point that my computer had been at their shop. After a whole week, i was told that the computer was working fine for a few days but after doing automatic updates, it "crashed" and was not accepting any other hardrive now. THIS is where i was told that i now need to pay for the LOGIC BOARD. This is where i drew the line. I paid ~$400 dollars and my problem was not fixed, better yet i have a new problem thats completely unrelated to the original issue. if anything their 90 dollar diagnostic charge should have picked that up in the first place. I wouldnt be stretching my words too far to say that i suspected they caused that new issue in the first place just to drain money from me. After contacting the SHOP owner, i was eventually rejected a refund and instead told to contact Apple to contact them. Long story short(yes this is the short version) I spoke to apple and they fixed my computer FOR FREE. Im 400 dollars out right now and i plan to get at least 200 dollars back from this TERRIBLE company. Though Billy, the associate, at the front desk is a nice guy, this shop NEEDS to be closed down. Their claim on their website that they are "Considered the Best Apple Sales and Service Dealer on Long Island and New York City." IS A COMPLETE BLATANT LIE. I WILL BE COMPLAINING TO APPLE FOR "CERTIFYING THEM" AND WILL MAKE SURE THEY RECEIVE NO BUSINESS. I had a great experience at American Computer. My graphics card gave out and they offered me a newer model iMac, put my hard drive in it and increased my ram. Works very well and I thought the price was very fair. This is my second time using them. Both the owner and his son were polite, knowledgeable and the turnaround time was excellent. My Mac's hard drive crashed and after spending an hour on the phone with Apple Care and two hours at the "Genius" Bar they told me that my Hard Drive needed to be replaced...Both of them said this. They also informed me that once they did my iMac wouldn't be serviceable because it's considered vintage. They gave me an outrageous price, told me it would be there for a few weeks and I moved along. I called these guys and they gave me a way better price and told me same day turn around. The 'geniuses' all claimed that the place was not an authorized Mac repair place. I brought my iMac in and was greeted by Billy, very cool and was pretty thorough with how the process worked and he said how it would be finished by the end of the day. I called before heading over there to pick it up and he asked me if he could keep it overnight and it wouldn't be ready until the next day. I told him that's fine, I then read the negative review. It got me a little nervous. Around 11am the next day I received a call from them saying that not only was my iMac ready but the hard drive was REPAIRED! Saving me even more money. These big box companies like Apple and Best Buy think that the solution to every problem is to replace it, these guys actually took the time to repair the hard drive. They could have done the same thing Apple was going to do but they didn't. I couldn't be grateful enough for that. Not to mention my computer works like a charm yet again! Would I suggest these guys to anyone in need of a computer repair? HECK YEAH! In a second! These guys were aces! Took my mac in to get windows and paralell installed by Bill. Within 90 day guarantee called said could not access internet with newly installed windows. Bill told me he knows nothing about windows to call Parallel. Took my computer across the street to CRC who diagnosed hardware said all is ok and said will remove previous version installed by AC as windows system info did not even include a wifi option to access windows. Matt said will delete previous version install new version of Windows 10 and if fails to correct issue no charge for service and will assist in contacting manufacturer. These guys are great. Not a review guy, but this one was much deserved. Apple sent me to them as Apple won't service computers past 3 years old. I came to them with a messy situation involving 2 computers and a bunch of dead ends where I was looking. Billy gave me the diagnosis quick and advised a perfect, way-less-expensive than I had imagined solution. Once I gave him the go ahead and parts he needed me to grab, he had my computers fixed and running prestige in literally a few hours. They Really saved me in a jam with work. Will absolutely use them for all my computer issues in the future, n god knows there will be more. Thanks guys for everything' and I'm sorry for all the questions n calls lol! I see there are 2 negative reviews before mine..I read them, my experience was completely contradictory to their experiences. I probably drove them nuts with calls and questions and they were only professional, patient, and courteous with me, not to mention their work was completed before they said it would be done, and better than I could have ever imagined, and INEXPENSIVE considering what they did. I'm goin on, but you have to understand, these guys saved me. I'll only use them in the future. I feel that when people bring a computer for repair to an offsite repair shop that works for a huge company like Apple, theyre usually fed up and frustrated by the time they get their equipment through the doors, having tried all other avenues, just like me..it's easy to take frustrations out on the little guy and blame them for what the larger co started..and they have to work within the parameters of their contract with the larger company..so they take the blame when people don't get what they want, just saying. Ok this is the best place I have found bar none, including apple, Mac store. The reason I place them above apple store is if anyone has tried to get a computer fix from apple u know how long and crowded it is. Well I recently was told of American computer I was little Leary not going to apple store but I was told from my son-in-law , who is a computer guy, that he went there and highly recommended them. After 2 weeks of trying to get my Mac repaired I gave in and went to American Computer also know as the Mac PC Guys. I met the owner Peter Mormoris and explained my problem, which was my computer went from rainbow ball to nothing. I left it for a diagnostic test and prayed. Peter called later in day and told me I needed a hard drive I told him I need to save my business program for the American Heart Assoc. lucky I used a time machine or time capsule to backup my computer. Long story short he replace my hard drive and transferred all my files program included. Now probably apple would have done the same, after 2 , 3 weeks but he, and his son Paul repaired place and transferred all my important files in 4 days. The cost was prob. half the price of anywhere else. The important thing that puts them apart from others is there was a problem to transfer my very important app. I forgot password I gave them very little help but They both did all the things to make it work. I didn't know if I could trust Peter or Paul when I first went there! But after what they did showed me how wrong I was. I bought a new iPhone and decided to use my previous iPhone as a land line. The older iPhone wouldn't hold a charge so I assumed it was time to replace the battery, I brought the phone to this establishment because they were listed by Apple as an authorized service center. Bill told me I could take it to another place and they would replace the battery the same day while I waited but I was kind of busy and I didn't need the phone right away. Bill told me it would take a few days for the replacement and the total cost for the whole procedure. I dropped the phone off and Bill told me he would give me a call when it was ready. A few hours later I received a call from Bill telling me that the phone didn't need a new battery it just needed a service update and another minor tweak and it was good to go!. I picked up the phone and all I payed for was the diagnostic check which basically found the issue.I was impressed by Bill's honesty and friendly service! I highly recommend this establishment to anyone with an Apple product. read more
