I needed to do a background check on someone (who shall remain nameless, since I don't want him to know!), and a good friend of mine recommended American Eagle Investigations. I was a bit hesitant to call at first since they're in NY and I'm in Los Angeles, but my friend gave them such a high recommendation, I decided to give them a try. I spoke to the owner, Daniel McBride... in fact, he's the one that picked up the phone! I asked him several questions about his business (he's a retired NYC cop), and all that a background check entails. Just by talking to him, you can tell that he knows his stuff! I discovered that there are several different checks you can do for a background check and that the price is dependent upon which checks you want done. What I liked most about Daniel is that he runs the business, so you will always be able to get him on the phone (he said 24 hrs. a day - I hope he sleeps!). He's not paying a bunch of middlemen so his prices are very competitive. I won't hesitate hiring Daniel and recommending him to friends. read more

This character came off immediately as a wiseguy who refused to answer even the simplest questions I had regarding his polygraph practice. When pressed for information, he gave only broad, non-specific answers that were of no help whatsoever. I thought I'd hire this quack to perform a polygraph test, so I asked him what kind of machine he uses. He said "The old fashioned pen and needle". So I asked him how old is the machine is, and he replied "Why does it matter how old it is?" I explained that polygraph machines have progressively improved dramatically over the years since the "old fashioned pen and needle" models, to which he replied "What's the big deal?". I abruptly ended the phone conversation and continued my search for a reputable polygraph examiner who welcomes such questions and answers them in a respectful manner. read more

Not only was this a sensitive matter, I also had to apologize profusely to this family. Not only was this a waste of time & money that I won't get back, I found my biological father by myself. Thank you Dan! read more

Not very experienced re Private investigators, but like any business you would like to be treated courteously . I was seeking info, very basic, from 2021/2022. Never received any info via E mail or any info at all. Called & was brushed off, no follow up from Daniel at all. Followed up & honestly found Daniel Impatient Verging on rude, so Daniel while it seemed a trivial matter to you It was not for me, & while you gave me a piece of advice which was handy, I would not come bk to you. I went to Daniel for PI services and with his help I was able to clear my image and name. He helped me prove my innocence with the service he provided and his price was very reasonable. He made it a very comfortable experience and I was grateful for that because I was extremely nervous. I also how nerve wrecking these things can be; it's like a job interview except it's not. LOL. I would HIGHLY recommend his business to anyone. His professionalism is A1. Don't doubt it for a second, be clear about your needs and don't beat around too much he is there to help, I can assure you that much. read more

When you think of a family business, private investigations is not one of those that springs to mind... at all. Dan, the owner of American Eagle Investigations is a second generation private investigator. I found that fact, and Dan himself, to be fascinating. (I had called Dan about another issue but the memories started flowing.) Many years ago, I held a private investigator's license in another state. Those engaged in that occupation were former law enforcement officers or ex-military. But not one of them had a father in the business to "show them the ropes". Of course, one learns a lot from being with NYPD. Dan did, too... and his father before him. Which means that Dan has his own NYPD and PI experience as well as the years his father was with NYPD and his father's years of PI experience, too. Over 75 years of experience total. (Dan even has the same office in Manhattan that his father had.) As I talked with Dan, it was obvious he has the old values that you find in established family businesses. You work directly with the owner who cares very much about you, your case and the outcome. Also, it is his name on the line... not some corporation or franchise. He really takes pride in that, too. It is not just a paycheck but rather a mindset. Dan even gives his clients his personal cell phone number! Dan is very happy to have you check his references. (Would you have thought to do this if you were hiring a PI? You should have.) And, unlike other businesses (say like dry cleaners) that give you a "done by date", the investigation process takes what it takes. There are PIs who will give a set time period, but unless they are holding a spiffy crystal ball In their non-dominant hand, this is a good sign to keep on looking for the PI you want working for you... not just telling you what they think you want to hear. Another telltale sign is any investigator who guarantees anything... other than their very best efforts. Promises to gain business are not the mark of the successful professional. As a matter of fact, if you have unrealistic expectations, Dan would prefer not to work with you. As Dan explained it to me, he does have two generations of experience, two generations of contacts/connections and two generations of reputation. However, unrealistic expectations can only lead to disappointment. Disappointment is a reality in the PI business. However, Dan wants to prevent it where possible by being realistic and upfront. He wants you to be satisfied. You and your case are very important to Dan. That is why he does what he does and why he is available 24 hours. (I didn't do that when I was a private investigator! Who does that?!?) It has been many years since I was a PI. But I can tell you one thing with absolute certainty. If I need "someone in my corner" when I am in the tri-state area, I am calling Dan. Professionalism, experience, reputation and above all... caring. Thank you, Dan. I understand and appreciate what you and your father have created. (In case you ever read these things.) read more

I should have followed my instincts when I first spoke to Dan McBride. At our first conversation I felt like I was given the bums rush but thought he just might be really busy. In any case, after several brief phone conversations with him I met him at his office, with my significant other, for a lie detector test, that my man agreed to take. Well, when we got there Mr. McBride didn't even know our names, which I thought was very unprofessional. He asked me to bring my most relevant questions with me to go over and I did. However, he choose to use his own time frame and his own broad questions that I didn't even have on my sheet of paper. Furthermore, to add insult to injury he went over all my questions that I had on my sheet that were just for him, with my significant other and he went over the procedure of the test with my fiancee' as planned but not only did he go over it but he went over it again and again and again, until my financee was completely at ease and knew every questions and every answer, in the exact order, the test would be administered. He coached him to pass, I feel, out of fear. I felt Dan was very unethical and was too accommodating towards my man. I felt betrayed. What Mr. McBride didn't know is that I recorded my man at home so I know he has had interaction with another female but I didn't want to expose this fact. I had expected to be validated and relieved but instead, again, I felt betrayed. He also wouldn't take a debit card. He wanted just cash. My advice to anyone who needs a lie detector test, would be, to go somewhere else. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY for that purpose. read more

Recently, I had an unfortunate situation where I needed an investigator for some background checking. A little digging of my own, and found American Eagle Investigations, a family owned and operated business that has been kept in the family for over 50 years! Wow, an investigation team with roots - go figure. I love to see the credibility with proven service in the industry, especially when I didn't know where to turn. The phone was answered by the owner himself, and not a foreign speaking assistant that may not give me very accurate information about my problem. Dan, a retired NYPD, helped me right away and got to the bottom of the problem. I was surprised at the personal attention that I got and how quick everything was resolved. I am still just amazed at the down to earth way they do business! Way to go, guys. Initially, the New York address had a red flag pop up in my mind, as I thought they would be over the top with price and inefficiency. Man, was I wrong! Can't say enough good about Dan and American Eagle Investigations. Will be using them again, if the need arises. read more

This is not the kinda business you turn to every day. Funny story - I didn't think I would ever need private investigator services. But when I watched Breaking Amish on TV last year I wrote American Eagle phone number just in case. The owner - Dan - seem to be a nice guy and presented himself well. This year I started a new business and needed to hire someone to help me in the office. But before making an offer someone recommended to run background check. Well, I didn't have to search - just reached in my pocket and called American Eagle. I talk to the owners right away. Turned out he is a retired cop and knows his business inside out. Actually he inhabited the business from his father. Dan ran a criminal background investigation for me right away. It didn't take long for him to produce my report - results came in very fast. We went over it on the phone the same day. Dan explained everything to me and answered all my questions. From one family owned business to another: thank you for helping me, Dan! I will keep your number in my favorites for sure. It was a pleasure to deal with you. read more

I am an attorney in New York and at various occasions in the course of my practice, I need the skills of someone capable of performing investigatory services. I have used at least half a dozen private investigation companies in the tri-State area so my comments are based on an assessment relative to the industry at-large. Due to the nature of services for which one uses a private investigator, this is not the type of service where the reviewer/user/customer tells the internet what they requested/ordered (i.e. penne primavera with red sauce). You don't go to an investigator with something you want to tell the public. That's why they are called "private" investigators - to be discreet while gathering the information you need. I have hired Dan McBride on multiple instances within the past few months and have found his services to be just what I was looking for. He calls you back when you leave a message and responds to email. That should be the norm in any industry but unfortunately it seems like it doesn't happen as often as one would expect. As to the quality of the investigation(s) carried out, I have been very pleased and know that when I have an issue requiring the use of a private investigator, I won't hesitate to call Dan first. read more

New York, the city that never sleeps and from the sounds of it neither does Dan McBride, Private Investigator and owner of Manhattan-based American Eagle Investigations. If you reside outside the US and need to do a background check on someone you want to hire, you will soon discover it can be a daunting experience. Who do you speak with? How do you access information? Where do you begin to look? This was my situation just recently and when I started looking for a Private Investigator the number of agencies and investigators in New York City was staggering. I suppose in a city with over eight million permanent residents you're going to have lots of these agencies. The daunting task of having to call around was not something I looked forward to doing. A trusted friend told me to call American Eagle Investigations. When I asked to speak with Dan McBride, I was pleasantly surprised to discover that my friend had given me Dan's direct line. Right off the bat I found Dan to be a very easy going person to speak with. I told him that my friend had referred me to his company. Dan was very grateful because referrals are always good news. I started to ask Dan a few questions about him and his company and what services they offered. Without any hesitation he answered all my questions. I felt like I was having a conversation with a old friend and not a private investigator who had never even met me. Dan was a NYPD police officer before he retired 19 years ago. His Dad, also a retired police officer, started American Eagle Investigations Services. Dan joined his Dad in the business right after retiring from the force. In a passing comment he said his whole family was on the police force and that his four brother-in-laws are cops as well. He laughed when I said it reminded me of the TV series Blue Bloods. American Eagle Investigations is a full-service private investigation firm with a staff of highly trained individuals and investigators. Whether you need a background check on someone or an actual investigation of someone, they cover it all. They do a lot of corporate investigative and protection services, but what keeps Dan busy is matrimonial cases, investigating spouses accused of cheating and investigating fraud cases for corporations. With so many people in NYC, that is a lot of potential clients. Dan is very passionate about what he does. You can hear it when he talks about some of the cases in which he has been involved. From what I found out he has an amazing track record for pulling off a success where others have failed. Such as the case of a 13 year old girl who had been missing for 10 days and, after Dan was hired, they were able to find her in just under two days. According to Dan the biggest challenge in hiring a reputable private investigator in New York is that it is always an extremely busy place. If you're following someone on the streets, you need to be on your toes because at any point in time there are thousands of people on one city block. It's very easy to lose someone in the crowd, or if they suddenly jump into a taxi, or run into the subway, you have to be quick and keep following them, no matter what the conditions. What impressed me most is that Dan said he only takes on clients he feels are being upfront and honest with him. If someone asks him to do work where it involves some underhanded tactics, Dan has zero time for that and he will not take on that case. He is honourable and he values his well-earned reputation. I asked Dan why someone should hire his company over the many others. What is it that makes American Eagle Investigations Services stand out? Dan told me that in many of the investigation companies the owners are not doing any of the investigative work because they hire other investigators to do the work for them. That is not how Dan works. He is out there every day, hands-on and getting dirty. He told me that his case the night before my call involved him doing over 14 hours of surveillance. Dan said no matter how big of small the case he is involved in every aspect because it is his name going on every report. He won't take on too many cases at a time because he wants to be able to provide his clients the best service possible and give them his full attention. That personalized service and attention to detail is extremely important to Dan because he knows people who hire him really need his help and his expertise. After speaking with Dan, I feel very confident with the information he gave me. His successful track record, his admirable work ethic and his unwavering dedication to each of his clients left me no doubt that I made the right decision and will be hiring him as soon as I am ready with all my facts. read more

Daniel is the most unprofessional PI I have dealt with. My misfortune of having chosen him. He is incompetent, unprofessional and dishonest. As a PI he didn't provide me with information which I could benefit from , which other PI provide. When one wants to hire a PI , you want to leverage on their experience to help and guide you, he never rold me PI have access to database to get target's or his lovers complete details date of birth , address phone number etc ).The day of the surveillance 22nd June he couldn't help me at all it was shocking he was on hire for a 13hr surveillance but we concluded within 3-5 hrs as he was unable to locate the target. Had he told me it was the targets girlfriend's birthday through the report I would have known this is a day we can't miss, it was sheer coincidence that I had chosen a date for surveillance while he wasn't there .I had also told him target will be coming home to get his office bag ,he should have used his experience to come to my house back , as target did come home to get his office bag but Daniel was too far away to reach target. It was collosal waste of $2200 paid to him to conduct surveillance on 2 days while on 1st day we concluded surveillance after 3-5 hrs. Thereafter ,He didn't even confirm once on email or text on any date which I was asking for to conduct surveillance and this continued for a month, and then I decided to call him and ask for a refund, first he told me there is only 4-5 hrs worth of refund due , then afterwards he calls me up to say there is nothing due as I had cancelled 4 appointments and I asked him to provide me proof of which dates were ever agreed by him for surveillance ? I really don't know how this company got these good reviews. For my own experience I have only disappointments. Before I signed the contract and made the transfer, Daniel said he would inform me when and what time to start and finish on each surveillance with pictures and videos, with time marks. I requested a surveillance in the evening from an office to a home where the 2 locations are just a few min walk away from each other. I waited for 2 weeks and had to asked and chased a few times to get him to finally to agree to start instead of him keeping me informed of his plan/schedule. I was hooked in the air wondering if he actually had any plans. Then on the date he told me he would start, he never informed me his starting time and when he was there. Until after 10pm I texted him that the person I wanted him to follow is still in office, so the surveillance window was narrowed and if he was really there he should not leave but wait for an hour or a bit more. He then replied me "ok". Of course he got nothing in that evening. I asked him how I know he was there to do the job, he then sent me 2~3 pictures of the building - that's really convenient LOL! Then the next day I asked him if he would be able to deliver a result for this mission, he replied he already did two surveillance and my payment is used up (btw he charged 2 full day surveillance for 2 evenings!) Honestly this just another investigator joke in NYC! read more

I was searching the web for a private investigator, and stumbled upon "American Eagle". it was in the top ten list of PI companies on Google search and had a rating of five plus (5+) stars. I was totally impressed from the start, by the web site, the fact that Mr. McBride worked for the NYPD, the longevity of the business and the reviews of his work. All his clients, were happy and satisfied with the service rendered. After reading about the company, I decided to call and make an appointment to meet with him. I expected Mr. McBride to be the one answering the phone, being that it was mentioned a few times in reviews I had read. He was professional, polite and agreed to meet with me at my earliest convenience. I was concerned, I wouldn't be able to afford his services, but was pleasantly surprised by the fair cost of surveillance and not to mention, I was blown away when Mr. McBride offered to work with me regarding the same. After our meeting, the contract was signed and I was at ease that I had a professional on the case:-). I met with Mr. McBride four(4) time and each time I received his undivided attention. When he received a phone call, he would answer and ask the person, " If he could return their call at a later time". That made me feel respected and important, anyone else / company would have you wait, while they secure their potential clients. The first surveillance was such a successful one, that I decided to have Mr. McBribe conduct a second for the same case. I am absolutely, satisfied with the excellent service I received from Mr. MacBride, and I will not hesitate to recommend, " American Eagle". read more
