It got so bad I was receiving 3-4 calls/emails almost every day- disrupting my work and my peace. IEP meetings were occurring but ultimately ineffective and nothing seemed to be improving. He was not getting an education and the school did not want him there or wanted to seclude him for disruptive behaviors. After Maria got involved, she came to me with a specific plan of what we needed to target for IEP changes. She was involved for several meetings and ultimately helped me get my son placed in a therapeutic school. Not an alternative school but an actual private therapy school and the school district paid. He is now in the 7th grade, almost a full year-in and thriving. She was truly a blessing for me and my son!

They ensure that their educational rights are being met including their right to FAPE (a Free and Public Education). If a child with a disability is not making meaningful educational progress, they can assist by collaborating with parents and the school district to better the situation for that child. While an advocate is not a lawyer and cannot provide legal advice, their expertise and knowledge surrounding the civil rights and educational rights of children guided by the state and federal laws can be invaluable to a parent that does not have that background. Navigating this complex process is very overwhelming and intimidating to most. The average person may not be skilled and knowledgeable enough to obtain the optimal outcomes best suited for their child. I have personally walked this road with my own child for years now. I learned the hard way trying to do this on my own. Looking back now I wish I had sought help with student advocacy early on. I advocate for all children needing accommodations or special educational services at school. All children deserve to learn and thrive to the best of their abilities regardless of their disability or learning differences. Parents should feel confident that the school district and staff collaborates productively with them in developing a 504 Plan or IEP specific to their child's needs and situation.

I had heard good things about the program through word of mouth but didn't know much about how it works. I also heard there was a free assessment to determine where my children might need help. Unfortunately, the center seemed severely understaffed. We waited 10 minutes before the test even began, and no one explained the process to me or my kids. I was told there is a price sheet on her desk and told I could take a picture of it, but beyond that, nothing was explained. When the kids finished the test, not all the pages were graded, and the staff member forgot to write down the end times. She gave a vague guess about where my children were academically but couldn't explain her reasoning. Throughout the appointment, she repeatedly mentioned being understaffed and that the owner was leaving. Am I supposed to feel confident in bringing my kids here after all that? What should have taken 30 minutes dragged on three times longer, and I left without any clear information or guidance about my children's needs. Very disappointing!

For our kids is not a way to keep up with the class work but it is to be ahead of the kids in their school. We highly recommend this reading center! Just remember the work is VERY independent and the younger the kids start the better!

I started going to the studio because I had to pass a Spanish oral test for my teaching certification. To pass this test, I had to speak Spanish at an ADVANCED low level. When I met Joaquin, I was incredibly nervous to practice Spanish one on one with someone. He made me feel comfortable from the moment we started. He encouraged me to practice and allowed me to make mistakes. He assisted me with concepts, vocabulary and grammar all in a conversational and authentic manner. I have never worked with anyone with better professionalism. His studio is clean, beautiful and a comfortable setting. He worked around my schedule, had open communication and most importantly knew my learning needs, goals and helped me achieve them. His studio changed the way I use language. I studied Spanish abroad and I have a Bachelors degree in the language.... But I learned and grew more from my experiences with Joaquin over the course of a summer than those experiences combined. He is a wonderful all around person, businessman and teacher. I am so lucky to have met him and to have been taught by him. Anyone looking to learn Spanish, must go to this studio as soon as possible!

In fact, they don't even consider Gaby as their tutor, she is more like a fun, friend that also teaches you Spanish. I originally needed a tutor for my freshman daughter that lacked basic spanish and was struggling in her high school class. I decided to have both my son and daughter take lessons together figuring that my son could use the help too. Both are doing well and my daughter is no longer having trouble in her freshman class. I'm very pleased with Studio Espanol and would highly recommend it.
