My wife ordered Hippie Hash without mushrooms. I asked that the driver text or call when they arrived. I did NOT receive the scrambled eggs. The Hippie Hash HAD mushrooms. This is not an IHOP or Denny's by a great diner with freshly made food. I had their special hash with lots of meat and veggies. My coworker had the liver and onions. The food was great! The food is nice and affordable; especially their breakfast specials. My partner and I can get two specials and one drink (I always get water) for $10. That's not bad at all. The menu options are what one would expect from a diner; American breakfast staples, burgers, fries/onion rings, a few other sides, and a few Mediterranean dishes including falafels and hummus. My partner and I are vegetarian, and they're always more than happy to make substitutions with our food. He'll get a burger with falafel patties instead of beef. I get the falafel wrap with hummus. The falafel patties are flavorful and have a nice texture. They've got shakes, smothies, soups, salads, and deserts. I think there's something for everyone here. I've seriously never had bad food from here & my food is always hot fresh and cooked to order from the burgers to the breakfast skillets, chicken and waffles & OMG THE HOME FRIES are to die for. They taste just like your grandmother made them with the perfectly cooked onions, peppers & just the right seasoning. The only thing I will recommend is if you order the homemade corned beef hash have it made with the hone fries instead of the hash brown because the hash browns aren't so good. Nice little grill in a hidden away location. It's an older building but inside very clean with pleasant wait staff. I had the biscuits w sausage gravy - only $3.99 for this HALF order! +$1 for the added two eggs! The gravy & fluffy biscuits were almost as good as what I could make at home BUT with less the hassle & cleanup! Yum! (Being a Southern gal that is HIGH praise!) They actually served the bacon really crisp, per my request! That's kinda rare for most places! Our "go to" for breakfast. Classic American Breakfast menu is all prepped in exactly the style you would expect but done so well it seems special. Generous portions and good coffee with seemingly endless refills mean it takes awhile to eat. It's a clean place with what seems to be fixtures from long ago. Friendly wait staff completes a very pleasant Saturday morning. My personal favorite is the Hippie Hash which comes in variety of styles depending on your idea of fillings from veggies only to gut-busting meat lovers. They also feature a Friday All You Can Eat Fish and chips. Their chef is a master at the deep fryer- nicely golden and not greasy. The 'chips' are some of the best French fries in the city. Nothing fancy bland eggs, the toast came with the liquid butter streaked on it-something I would have not preferred. The small oj is very overpriced. The homefries were good, just a small portion served---be prepared---they come with a ton of onion & peppers in them---not plain! I would have liked a drink refill but the server never visited us so that's that. For the price, it was okay. For the food, kinda the same-just okay. Against my better judgement I let my grandmother talk me into going here for lunch. And since she had gotten out of the hospital just an hour or 2 before I figured she earned the right to choose a meal that would make her happy. The place was pretty much empty except for a fella sitting off in a corner by himself. It seemed like the place did a pretty brisk carry out business... anyway, there was chicken and dumplings written on the specials board, and since she had mentioned that specific meal before we even left her house, we knew what we were having. The meal came with a small salad or curiously a cup of soup . She had the soup put in a to go cup, she also ended up having half of her chicken and dumplings packaged as well. Not me, lol I gobbled mine up like I had never seen food before. It was very very tasty. What caused me to only give 3 stars was our waitress. She stood at our table while we were trying to eat, and just jabbered away about what a good boss she had and how much she loved her job, and then she started chatting about who knows what. I've been going to the American Grille for quite some time now. It's an awesome little diner. The staff is friendly and the food tastes great. Their breakfast specials are awesome. My partner and I can both order breakfast and a drink for around $10 (their breakfast specials end at 11:00AM). I usually order one of their burgers with felafel patties substituted instead of a beef patty. Their felafel patties are delicious. The atmosphere is nice. It's rather casual, lots of regulars, pretty much what you'd expect from a diner. I'd absolutely recommend checking them out if you're in the area! read more

I transferred to a new location for my job in February of this year, and eat at this place in a regular basis since it's right across the street....so regular that the waitresses recognize my voice when I call!
