salmon, broccoli, and rice. Tastes as good as it looked. This is a gem of a restaurant in Ypsilanti. One of the best if not number one

The best restaurant in town. Great staff and cooks. Thanks for all the great service over the years

Just what you expect at a good old fashioned diner on the side of the road. Freshly made food at good prices and great service! Seems everything the make is fresh! This is not an IHOP or Denny's by a great diner with freshly made food. I had their special hash with lots of meat and veggies. My coworker had the liver and onions. The food was great! Fast service and great food will keep me coming back to this place near my office for lunch.

Reminiscent of old school grabbing breakfast at "the coney". Your not coming here for frills, your in and out with a bill reminiscent of the 90s. I love me a breakfast, coffee and OJ from concentrate. Just reminds me times long gone with people long gone. Definitely worth giving a whirl, especially if your a sentimental sap like me!

This place is so good! Excellent diner food at a reasonable price. The employees are super nice, and the service is very fast. I recommend the hippie hash. Always find myself going back to this place for a late breakfast option.

This place is pure Ypsi, and I love Ypsi. It's a small diner with huge windows. Usually a small crowd of older people working type people. The servers are always on point, and good with the coffee refills. The breakfast potatoes are really as good as the other reviews say, and I am always happy mixing them in with a standard but excellent veggie omelette. This place ranks pretty high in my breakfast rotation when I want something low key but high

This place has been, and will continue to be my favorite diner. I feel so at home here! Though I'm a regular at this point, I remember it didn't take long for the wait staff to remember my drink order and have it ready for me as they brought menus. My favorite things about this place are their friendly wait staff, amazing breakfast specials, and their adaptability regarding my vegetarian needs. The food is nice and affordable; especially their breakfast specials. My partner and I can get two specials and one drink (I always get water) for $10. That's not bad at all. The menu options are what one would expect from a diner; American breakfast staples, burgers, fries/onion rings, a few other sides, and a few Mediterranean dishes including falafels and hummus. My partner and I are vegetarian, and they're always more than happy to make substitutions with our food. He'll get a burger with falafel patties instead of beef. I get the falafel wrap with hummus. The falafel patties are flavorful and have a nice texture. They've got shakes, smothies, soups, salads, and deserts. I think there's something for everyone here. Definitely recommended if you're in the area!

We were escorted to our table by our lovely host, and when we arrived at our table in the back of the restaurant, there was a cute "happy birthday" table card waiting for us. This was incredibly thoughtful and a nice touch for our celebration dinner. Also, I love how this restaurant is decorated - the art work, the furniture, and plants - all come together to create a welcoming, cozy, warm atmosphere for any dining experience. I also love how the menu continuously rotates and highlights fresh produce from local suppliers. We both ordered a different dish and shared, plus we had some leftovers, so the portions are very generous. We also tried some of the oysters with vinaigrette they were fresh and delicious. To conclude our dinner, we were gifted with a DELIGHTFUL banana pudding with a scoop of ice cream and a candle to make a wish (though our wish for a wonderful meal and dining experience was throughly satisfied already ) Thanks again for a great time bellflower!

OMG these sautéed garden veggies were the best! The other main was a Japanese curry dish. Here is why the five starting dropped to a four. It was just ok. We would not order again. For dessert we had the bread pudding- another star for the night! To the owner, terrific staff. Everyone we engaged in, were positive and knowledgeable. They are a great team! Looking forward to a second visit!

The ambience is absolutely lovely--spacious, clean, and very pleasant to sit in. The upstairs seating area is especially nice, with comfortable tables and chairs that make it a great spot to relax. They also offer a good selection of packed bakery items on display that look fresh and tempting, making it ideal for a quick grab-and-go visit. That said, the dine-in experience was let down by long wait times. I ordered a croissant and a falafel sandwich and ended up waiting significantly longer than expected, with little to no updates on my order. The ordering system--placing the order in one area and then waiting with a buzzer to collect before paying--felt somewhat inefficient, especially during off-peak hours on a weekday when the café wasn't particularly busy. In terms of food, the falafel sandwich was decent, while the croissant was just okay. Overall, the service felt slow and somewhat disorganized during this visit. I later stopped by just for grab-and-go items, and that experience was much smoother and quicker. Overall, the café has a beautiful ambience and fresh offerings, but there is definitely room for improvement in service speed and order management for dine-in items.

I asked the hostess about my group and if I should take them elsewhere as they kept seating people behind us in line. She responded and said "it will be more time for your group. Looking to get tables close to each other". I told her that the reason why we stuck around was to get seated and was fine with splitting, as already discussed. Another table got sat ahead of us shortly after this conversation happened. My group instantly felt disrespected and not welcomed - which led to our group unanimously voting to leave. From the gardens to the land with a creek flowing though it -- to the beautiful building and pleasing decor inside and a porch with tables around much of it. So impressed. The menu, our server explained, is changed out quarterly and this is the new summer one. So many unique small and large plates (but when he described them, they were way more intricate and enticing than the menu even showed). He was attentive and helped guide our choices. We ordered the eggplant small plate to share, then the mushroom pizza (so much tastier than the description would indicate), and the wild boar brat with cherry and peach accents. Everything was delicious. I also got an iced latte with the house made mocha and it was better than alcohol, if you're a coffee lover anyway. 100% plan to come back! And likely soon. This Sunday, my mom invited myself and my siblings to join her for brunch. The ambience was amazing - with lovely natural lighting and gorgeous table settings. The menu makes every dish seem mouthwatering and delicious. When the plates came out, they were gorgeous and the food looked so inviting. Unfortunately, the taste was completely lacking. If you're going to charge the prices they're charging, the flavor should be amazing in every single bite. We sampled four different dishes, and none blew me away. Some, were even borderline "bad." Here's a rundown: mushroom pizza - the description makes it seem like it will be cheesy and full of flavor, but it was very one note duck confit pizza - had three pieces of duck on it and was otherwise covered in hot peppers lemon blueberry pancake - more of a skillet cake - sauce was the best part, otherwise dry on the bottom Raclette burger - $30 which is almost comparable in price to a burger I had at The Four Seasons in Maui. That burger, was worth every penny. This one had absolutely no flavor. The meat tasted like mush - definitely lacked seasoning, and there was not a speck of cheese to be found. If you're going to call a burger a raclette, it should be oozing with cheese. grilled Romaine salad - leaves were bitter and the dressing again, looked delicious, but had no flavor. The flavors did not compliment each other at all - with the pickled grapes, taking away from the dish and contrasting very starkly against the rotten tasting lettuce Brown sugar oat milk latte - really the only thing that delivered both on looks and on flavor. Sadly, not high on my list of places to return. It kind of made me think of Vegas: lots of pomp and glam which momentarily distracts you into thinking you're having the best time of your life. But in retrospect, not very fulfilling.

Even worse, it's amazing. And I'm not one to gush over bakeries. And this bakery does it all. Naturally leavened breads, sweet pastries, savory baked goods, and great coffee all in a clean, well lit, charming, and friendly space. While I have had BDB's rye teacake at Argus in the past, I had not delved deeply into their full line of products. This changed last week when I popped in and fell in love with their buckwheat financier, spelt scone with braised collards, cheddar, and bacon, and their Ypsi sour loaf. Here's the bottom line: the flavors and textures are just freaking fabulous. Across the board. Financiers, scones, and bread all share the same praise. Remarkable crunchy crusts, juxtaposed with tender interiors, and flavor that just goes on and on. Brand new fan. Well worth the drive out to Ypsi. I think I found my new favorite hangout with those big big windows, easy weekday parking, and free wifi. My hope is to get there early enough sometime to get a hot baguette out of the oven, or some other loaf when it is still warm. Hot bread and good butter is the best food combination on Earth. I'm ready to throw down in defense of those words. I suspect when I get that timing figured out, Bird Dog Baking might be able to squeeze its way into the top spot of my greatest culinary experience of all time. But I'm a simple man, with simple tastes... even if I have almost impossibly high standards. Oh yeah, they also are seriously into local grains, using a wide variety of lesser known grains, and all kinds of other super cool and nerdy food stuff. But you don't have to know any of that to fall in love with the spot and the culinary team behind it. Just go, eat, and enjoy.
