Luz replied via email and asked for my phone number but I said I'm not available by phone. Please email me pricing. She then proceeded to call me multiple times even though I continued to ask for an email from her. I'm at work all day and can't receive calls. A customer's requests should be respected. I've had to block her calls. I won't be using this service. Pricing should be listed on the site. It shouldn't be this hard. I can only assume it's expensive an out of my budget.

The format is great, the instructors translate in real time our conversations in each class and send you the notes after. Also they have all been so kind. I like that it's over Zoom so I can be in the comfort of my space. It really is conversational learning but I've heard becomes more technical as you advance. I have had a hard time learning Spanish over the years, the learning apps have not been able to do the trick. But using your language learning apps along with these classes will be helpful to add words into the conversations. I am looking forward to continue my learning with Pura Buena Onda!

I have started and stopped trying to learn Spanish for at least a dozen years with a variety of methods but it always failed for one reason or another. Some of the other online tools are good for basic comprehension, but if you want to say more than "El niño come" and "¿Dónde está el baño?" I believe you have to practice speaking with professors and fellow classmates. I have been taking both group classes and private classes for about a year and I continue to progress in my level, knowledge, and confidence. They offer both in-person (pre- and hopefully one day soon post-COVID) and online classes so you can learn Spanish from anywhere. Sahar is so patient with my French learning, bless her heart, she's also very friendly and a great teacher. I've tried to learn French with Rosetta Stone and with several apps but I'm horrible at keeping myself accountable with self-learning. I heard about Portal Languages through a friend and now I know I'll be learning from Sahar from now on. She has such a nice way of teaching that it feels like fun even if she corrects me when I make mistakes (she's so nice about it ). Our hopes were (1) to connect with other Cantonese speakers in the community and foster a social/cultural context for using Cantonese, (2) foster Chinese literacy. Going on Year 3 with CSSD, Ms. Cassandra and her school team have been proactive in seeking family feedback and enhancing instruction. Every Saturday in Cantonese class, the children learn in a non-traditional format. Having learned from my own peers who went to Chinese school, we had been concerned about the lack of engagement and retaining learning via rigid instruction (e.g., sitting, listening, drilling). But here at CSSD, we deeply appreciate the interactive approach in instruction - weekly themes, hands-on activities such as calligraphy, cooking, projects, and using different media - music, videos, stories. Of course, weekly home practice is still a must and much appreciated. For those that don't speak Cantonese well, the teacher has been helpful by providing pronunciation recordings for supporting home practice. As the school year winds down, each class also prepares for and performs each May during the graduation ceremony. It is always amazing to witness their progress. CSSD also has many community events. Ms. Cassandra often informs families in community events, and we are really grateful for those opportunities. Last, we were invited to watch NeZha 2, which we thoroughly enjoyed. It is crucial that my child gets to experience the Chinese culture through popular media, as other children living in Chinese-speaking countries would experience. The 1st thing he did was take away vacations, lowered hours, gave us 15 minutes for lunch. I was told not to go the bathroom only during the 15 minute lunch break. They adopted a book which was not communicative even though they advertised this method. They charged the students $20 a month for a $20 grammar book, which meant if a student studied for 3 months they paid $60.00. Shannon Brown the director, knew less about ESL than anyone I have ever known in this field. She was a Spanish teacher who barely spoke Spanish. If you had a problem she didn't want to hear about. I have been an ESL Teacher for over 30 years. I have never worked in a school where everything was decided where people didn't know what they were doing. The only thing they cared about was money. Don't spend your money in this school better off in good ESL schools where students and teachers are not taken advantage of. This school is like the Trump University. Do I have to say more?

First I have to say it is not a high level language school but I think it's a good level. The teachers are very helpful and I think they are good in their job. I would go back to this school again. The school is offering different courses for different language skills. And if you need a preparation for a language test they are offering the right course too. Beside the language courses they are offering high variety activities or if you are in need on anything like tickets for a baseball game or a concert they will help you getting it. With the school I visited Las Vegas, did my first sky dive and went to Six Flags Magic Mountain. The school is a place where you are able to make friends, connections for the future. It is all about you. Unfortunately I use the language very rarely and my skills need to be updated. Btw. San Diego is one of my favorite Cities in the US that makes the stay very comfortable too. ;)
