The Legion in Port Charlotte, FL is a fun place. The problem I've encountered is bar service. They have a huge bar and 2 girls (sometimes just 1 girl!) working. It's a very large area and really needs at least 3 people working on days when activities are going on. If you're not sitting at the bar, but wanting beverages for a table, you wait forever. They have finally voted to stop the smoking in the Post home! I have been a member of the Legion for several years and have never gone to the post in Port Charlotte because of the very heavy smoking! In early June they voted to ban smoking in the post. They have not announced the date this will start, but as soon as they do I will start supporting this post. Any one ever tried to renew their membership at this place??.what a joke , however I'm not laughing.Got down to Florida mid January paid my dues around feb 5th or6th. Been told that my card should be ready in a week . Today is March 3rd but still no card. Been told that now for a month .I've had it . Went for first time since they tossed out the smokers. Was excited to have corned beef and cabbage which was supposed to start at 1300. Nice lone waitress didn't show up for 15 minutes and then told us dinner was coming at 1400 but went to check in kitchen for ETA. Came back 15 minutes later and confirmed that chow wasn't coming. We left and won't be back. 1) How do you have only one waitress working on a holiday? 2) How do you NOT have the food ready for hangry folks. We went to CHUBBY'Z and paid 3 bucks less for a rapidly served, delicious meal which was excellent!! I did get a great chuckle when I saw that CAFE 110 caters!! read more

Now that the inside is non smoking it is a great place to go.

Just moved into the area and reading the post about smoking. Glad they decided on no smoking and i hope it's has a good smell. I well be visiting it soon. Love my home Legion. read more

Very very smoky. Shame nice huge bar and dining room. Not enough space for people who cannot handle the smoke. Bartender very good. Great prices. read more

Must be a very old post on Safari about being to smoky inside. Smoking inside was voted down months ago.

Good band, low cost bar, large facility. But man oh man it is SMOKEY!! A FOG. IT'S REALLY, REALLY BAD! We will never go back. However, if you already have lung cancer it may not bother you. Other that that, a fun place. read more
