We had a serious issue with pill mills in the past, and I would like to think those days are over. After one visit to this place, I'm not so sure. To begin with, I arrived early for my visit so I could fill out their ridiculous amount of paperwork. On it were the obligatory questions about the pain I was in, but no one seemed concerned with what I put down, as they kept referring to other things that were not bothering me. Also, when I made the appointment, I specifically asked for Dr. Amin, but I never saw him. I filled out the paperwork and sat in the annoying waiting room where the television is entirely too loud and on a continuous loop of ads. Nothing else. I wished there was a remote out there so I could turn it off, but that would show true concern for the patients and you won't find that here. I finally was brought in to the madness of the back, and Michael, the nurse (I'm not sure if he's actually a nurse but I don't think he's a physician's assistant and I know he's not a doctor) could not have been nicer. If this review was about him, it would be five stars. He was the only one I met who actually listened to me. Next came the PA. This could either stand for Physician's Assistant or Pain in the Ass, you can decide for yourself. She was a nightmare. She apologized for the amount of time I had to wait, but she had to go outside because her car was hit. Which is saying to the patient that her car is more important. That gives you an idea of the caliber of the practice. Finally the doctor came in. He stood across the room and recited to me what his PA had written down, incorrectly, which completely threw him off because he had already decided on the the diagnosis and course of treatment (all with drugs) before he walked in the room. He never examined me, he stood with his back against the door and never entered any further into the room. I now know how lepers must feel. He prescribed several medications for me, which is why I started feeling like I was in a pill mill. Then he told me he would call in another prescription, and that pharmacy would call me to make arrangements. I was also to have an MRI. Finally, something that made sense. His office would arrange that and the MRI office would call me to schedule. I also had to give them a urine sample, but for the life of me, I don't know why. I gave it to them. I have yet to hear anything more about it. I was shown to the front desk where the receptionist immediately tried to book my next appointment. I informed her that I couldn't very well do that since I hadn't had the MRI yet, which completely threw her off. I patiently explained to her (maybe not so patiently) that I had to have an MRI and that her office was going to call the MRI place and let them know what the were scanning, and once that was done, then I would call and make the next appointment. I'm guessing she gets paid on how many appointments she makes because she was not happy. Several weeks later I received a letter in the mail from some company that claimed they had been trying to call me (even though I never got a phone call from them) to finalize the medication. I checked and it's a medication that is NOT covered by my insurance, and I can only guess that Dr. Macek gets a kickback from the drug company, because I cannot come up with another reason why he would prescribe this for me, particularly since he still had not examined me. Oh, and the MRI? Well, it's been over a month and I still have not heard from anyone about that. As I said, this made me think I was in a pill mill and nothing has happened since change my opinion. In reading the reviews on here, it seems that most patients are very happy with Dr. Amin. I cannot understand why I was not put on his schedule when I specifically asked for him, but I was not. I rarely really leave subpar reviews tbh but this experience kind of sucked. I booked an appointment on ZocDoc with Haley Diaz PA a week prior to the actual appointment because it was nearby, the provider had good reviews, and I was in really bad back pain. I filled out all the intake paperwork on ZocDoc & got an appointment confirmation for said appointment. A week later I show up the day of my visit (that I got multiple confirmations for) and was advised "oh ZocDoc appointments aren't real appointments. They are more like appointment requests." I was told this after I had taken the time off work to make it to the visit, spent 30 minutes filling out paperwork, and had been in pain for a week prior while I waited for the visit. Keep in mind they paid ZocDoc $70 for my referral.... I'm sure the provider is amazing & extremely knowledgable in her field and I'm sure the positive reviews are legit, but unfortunately the support staff are unorganized. I myself manage a medical practice in the area and I know how ZocDoc works. Multiple notifications have to be blatantly ignored in order to get to the point where a patient shows up for a visit that was booked & confirmed a week in advance to be told the appointment does not exist. If I could go back I would have ignored the 4+ confirmations I got from ZocDoc and called the practice to make sure they got the request, but alas I trusted the 4+ confirmations I received. read more

Tom Maceek MD did a great job of relieving my back pain..Had the back pain for approx 3 months (sciatica and back pain) and was referred to Dr Maceek by another healthcare professional... The relief was unbelievable, after trying other remedies like acupuncture... My appointment time was honored, little or no wait, office staff was great but best part was Dr Maceek's bedside manner and expertise... Answered every question and very patient... I came back from a trip to NYC, with horrible pain in my right shoulder. About 3 year ago I had rotator cuff surgery on the left shoulder and couldn't believe that it happened again. I was seeing Dr Amin for my scheduled back procedure and told him about the shoulder. The "shoulder Dr " couldn't see me for almost 6-8 weeks. Dr Amin ordered a MRI, and confirmed the torn rotator cuff diagnosis. We discussed treatments and he told me about PRP, how its done and the possible help it might give me. I decided to trust his judgement and had it done. Well, by the time I saw the other Dr, I had almost forgotten how bad the pain had been. He was pleased with the result that I had from Dr Amin's treatment. Its been over 6 months and the pain is barely evident. I am so happy to be on going patient with Dr Amin. Dr. Neel Amin is wonderful. He listened to my issues and didn't just dismiss me like it didn't matter. His bedside manner is above and beyond any Dr. I have ever seen. He did an epidural on my spine and made sure I was okay the entire time. The pain was minimal and it was done without perfectly. John, his Physician's Assistant is the fantastic! The procedures (injections in my knee) he has done on me have been painless. These people at the Clinic are absolutely fantastic. From the office manager, Sandy, the awesome guy that handles insurance (so sorry I forgot his name), John, PA, all the way up to Dr. Amin have treated me like I believe they would handle their family. It's was so worth changing Dr's to be cared for by a true pain management staff that don't just throw drugs at you and dismiss you. They get to the root of the pain and fix it with incredible care. I am committed to finishing the plan they made for me to be out of pain so I can get off of my meds and function without pain. I totally believe in this team and adore all of them. read more

I would certainly not recommend visiting this practice. The facility is clean but you walk into a crowded waiting room where the television is blaring talk shows. The office staff is unfriendly to the point of being rude. The doctor and physicians assistant do not pay attention to you when you speak. They just want to administer shots..in and out My visits there were demeaning and unhelpful. I would recommend you find another doctor. read more

If you make an appointment over the phone with this group, make sure you record the name of the person, date and time you called. I did not and was rudely and argumentatively treated when I arrived for the appointment. I was not called a liar, but I was meant to feel like one. Also, be aware that this group will not provide patients with a bill, or any kind of statement to pay. They say that they use a completely separate billing service and have no responsibility to send out any statement of charges. This means that you can arrive for an appointment and be told that you owe thousands of dollars in unpaid fees. Amazingly, their billing service does not send out any statement for fees. The front desk states that it is the patients responsibility to contact the billing service. However, when you do call the billing service it is hard to talk with anyone. I have had good results worthy of 5 stars from Dr. Macek's treatments, and he is very personable and understanding, but the attitude and competence of the staff and the billing procedures are real negatives. Update 2017 : The attitude of the staff has improved a whole lot. His 1 problematical employee is no longer there. The person confirming appointments has softened some. His personal assistant is great. It is somewhat easier to call in. I am now on Medicare Part F, so I have had no problems with billing, as my Part F provider handles everything. I hope that they will record appointments when they are made and send out bills on a regular monthly basis the way every other Dr's practice, hospital and health care provider I have ever seen does. So I can give 5 stars for the care provided, but only 3-4 stars for the staff and their attitude. I hope to be able to revisit this review and provide a full 5 stars when the appointments, receptionists, and billing procedures are corrected. read more

Dr Macek is a kind, caring, intelligent and wonderful pain management physician. He is a great listener and has a great sense of humor. I have been seeing him for 4 years. He had helped me so much that I haven't had to see him for the last 1.5 years! He is professional and always so caring and understanding. The procedures he's done on me are always done with the utmost of care and he makes sure I'm comfortable. I had moved from Massachusetts and was so concerned that I wouldn't be able to find a good pain management Dr but my worries were quickly gone at the very first appointment with him. The office staff are great, the billing office is great. The medical assistants are professional, kind, welcoming and caring. I'd about given up on having any semblance of a normal life when I got to see Dr Tom Macek and his team. I was depressed and overwhelmed, with very little hope that I could be helped with my chronic back pain which had been exacerbated by a recent auto accident. I had fractures of T11 and 12 and had superglue kyphoplasties of both vertebrae. My surgeon seemed mad at me because I was still in pain! It was a breath of fresh air to meet Dr Macek and Maribel, and to have such gentle, compassionate professionals assuring me my pain could be managed. They are experts at going right to the spot that is causing the pain: Then explaining every step of the procedure, so I knew what to expect at every moment. Dr Macek took the time to let the local anesthetic take effect before doing the injections, and both he and Maribel were watching me for side effects. When she helped me sit up on the table, I was dizzy, and she put her cold hands on my hot face and took some breaths with me prior to helping me dress and get into a post procedure recliner, elevating my feet and bringing me a drink of water. Dr Macek checked in on me, and by then I was out of pain for the first time in 4 years! Dr Macek and crew have been educating me about how to be mindful while gradually increasing activities and stopping before the pain seized me up again. One time when Dr Macek was out, I saw Dr Faraz Kursheed. I was upset that day because the pain was back and I couldn't do my job, and he comforted me, saying I needed to take care of myself just now, and to just let all that emotion go. He was calm, soft spoken and kind. He didn't judge me, he just stayed with me till it passed. I asked if I was crazy, and he said it takes a lot of energy to operate on top of chronic pain, and my reactions were about letting go of covering Up being in pain, which is the beginning of managing it. I am so impressed with Dr Tom Macek and his entire staff! He is a fantastic doctor. During my first consultation visit he spent nearly an hour with me!! Wow! That never happens anymore, ever. He explained everything about my problem so thouroghly and was so attentive to all my questions. I went today for my first spinal injections. He told me it wouldn't be painful. And it wasn't. Much less uncomfortable than my previous doctor. And he even took the time to show me the images he took during the procedure after he was finished. His assistant that helped him do the procedure was also very kind. I have been a dentist for 40 years and know how to recognize excellence in care.
