The nail tech made me bleed three times in two different fingers, she also cut too deep into one nail that I have to wait for it to heal to be fixed. I am writing out my experience in detail so that the next person can make an informed decision. To preface, I will not be going to this nail salon again. TLDR Summary: -Unsanitary -Rough with nail take off and manicure -Made up prices. First, when I arrived the door was locked, which I thought was strange but I ignored it. There were no other customers in the salon. I originally asked for a gel pedicure and a dip set, but after seeing the lack of cleanliness I decided I would not get a dip set because it can be a really unsanitary way to get your nails done. First red flag was none of the foot basins had bags in them. This is another sign of unsanitary practices, but being the salon was empty I figured that maybe no one had used the basin. The basin itself was visibly clean, I'm just aware of salon sanitary practices. I was uncomfortable but I thought the nail tools were properly sanitized before use so I let it go. (I believe I was mistaken. They used a brush on my legs that was old and flat from use.) Overall though, the woman doing my toes did a good job and was nice. My only complaint was she was taking forever to do my toes but I also hadn't gotten my toes done in forever so I just wrote it off as I have a lot of dead skin. She did sigh a lot towards the end though, which I thought was weird. My real issue was with the woman who did my nails. She was extremely rough and old school with taking my old nail set off. Instead of doing an acetone soak off + drill it down, she was trying to pry off my acrylics with a fake nail + cuticle nippers. This hurt and I had to tell her it was painful. After this I decided I wanted to leave ASAP, so I told her I wanted a regular manicure instead of the dip. She did a good job with the painting, but she didn't buff my nail bed so there was a jacked up texture from how my acrylics were torn off, and she pushed back my cuticles with her thumbnail (beyond gross and I hate this). She also cut my cuticles very roughly, to the point some of my skin is torn right now. I was charged $90 + 1.50 debit charge (which is possibly illegal). My gel pedi was $50, my manicure w regular polish $20, then she charged me $20 for nail take off. I found this strange because typically nail salons won't charge for takeoff if you get your nails done, and she also took my nails off in the most horrible way that is no longer the industry standard. I believe she just wanted to charge me a certain price and so she made up the $20 for takeoff. Due to this, I did not leave a tip (which I've never done and felt bad about). I would never go to this place again but I was desperate because I was going out later that night. read more

This was my first time at American Spa Nails. I arrived late after work on a Friday evening and in some desperate need for some pampering. The owner was so sweet. I had to wait a little bit to be seen but she got me a massage chair and started soaking my feet while I waited. She was very friendly and did a great job on my feet! The leg massage was amazing. She used a hot stone and some warm towels to relax my legs and feet. she even took great care of my calluses! She helped me find the perfect shade of hot pink for my toes and I love it! My feet feel so much better! I had forgotten to bring flip flops for after but she had some disposable ones for me to wear home so that I didn't mess up my toes! They had mirrors on the walls that had not been cleaned in years with spots and smudges all over, filthy floors and pedicure chairs. Made an appointment at 1:30 with my sister, we didn't leave until 4:00pm. I had to ask for warm water twice after waiting so long. My nail tech finally got to my station for my pedicure at 2:30pm, and spent only a few seconds to massage my feet. My sister was done 35 minutes before me, while I waited in the massage chair for my nail tech to tell me on 2 separate occasions that they don't have my choice of color. Came to this place about a year ago and had a great acrylic fill with the owner. Came today with appointments for my sister and I. Two regular pedicures, a gel polish change, and a fill. 3.5 hours later, my sister and I each have two bloody fingers, we were both cut twice. They were out of multiple colors. The owner's daughter used a different color for my toes than what I asked for. When I said it didn't look the same as the sample, she insisted it was. Finally she realized her mom had given her the wrong color and had to remove all the polish and start over. Then, the owner had to repaint my fingers with gel after her daughter did not use the gel polishes in the right order. I had to ask for acetone to remove excess polish from my fingers, cuticle cutter to fix all the leftover cuticles, and alcohol to clean my cut fingers after the owner insisted on waiting to clean them until she finished. When she gave us the bill, she said she was going to charge $5 extra for my long nails. When I questioned her she gave us each $5 off, but to me our bill of $105 for 3.5 hour bloody manicures & pedicures doesn't feel good. read more

I have been here twice. The first time, they had a very pleasant staff, and me and my mother went for a girls day to get pedicures. The staff was very respectful to us and very gentle, and kind. However, the second time I went there was just the other day. I got a mani-pedi and my mother got a pedi. First off, the woman doing her pedi kept disappearing for about 5 minutes at a time. The woman who did my pedi was very rough, and they were talking about the customers right in front of me and my mother! They would stop what they were doing, and then gossip, then come back to our pedicures. Then I got a manicure. I got french fakes put on, and the woman who was doing them was kind of disregarding everything I had to say. She seemed like she just wanted to get the job done quickly. I liked the nails when I first got them done, but themore I look at them, the more sloppy they look. They are uneven. And she kept trying to convince me to get one color instead of a french. Like I said, I believe this was so she could get out of work earlier. They also locked the doors an hour before closing so no more customers could get in. She also told me that they hired a new "crew" because the old vietmanese "crew" made people uncomfortable. That was a little offensive to hear because you basically just said they were let go due to their race, which is EXTREMELY innappropriate to say to a customer. I didn't realize until after we left that I was overcharged. I asked how much pedis were and the woman said $20. I asked about mani pedis and she said $35 but if I wanted the french fakes it would be $45. So, the $20 pedi for my mother, and my mani pedi should have been $65, however I got chared $75 and still left a decent tip for them. I did like this place a lot better with the old staff. They took their time and didn't randomly disappear in the middle of our pedis. I'm not saying these women did a horrible job, I really wish she didn't rush on my nails because you can still see the cuticles pushed up under the nail. It looks pretty from far away but kinda gross up close, especailly when I compared it to my coworkers nails. My toes do look pretty, however the polish is already chipping. I will be trying a new place next time, but I really hope the staff works on their customer service skills. read more

I've been coming here for a year and just noticed that they didn't have a yelp. *Gasp* They are located in beautiful downtown Sanford right on 1st across the street from The Willow Tree German restaurant. I come here every few weeks to have my fingers and toes done. I've been a skater my whole life and get terrible ingrown toe nails on my big toes if I don't get regular pedicures. I've been coming to this nail place on & off for years - I wasn't a steady customer because I'm usually in Sanford either early or late (not their hours) but I will have to rework my schedule. I have problems w/calluses and ingrown nails - so I am picky about where I go for pedis. I walked in w/o an appointment one morning (middle of week) to see what they could do because I was in dire need of a pedi. Lisa worked on my feet - let them soak and then took her time and turned my winter feet into sandal ready summer feet. She is AWESOME. Not only are they priced reasonably, but they are good. Walked in, stood around without being attended to whatsoever. There was only one worker for the nail salon already attending to 1 client. It doesn't matter if you have an appointment you will still have to have a long wait time. I am a military guy whose feet really need some love once in a while. I came in at 0930, I asked for a military discount knowing I probably wouldn't get one, was denied. No big deal, I still want one, after that I went to the pedicure seat and was directed to the chair to sit in, those massage chairs that I am not the biggest fan of. I am athletic and this unprofessional massage is not for me, I didn't turn it on, the First Lady walked by and just turned it on and said "you need massage," without asking. I turned it off, another customer came in at 1000 and knew the worker, so she was able to hop in front of me, at which point I pulled out my phone to start a review. The other lady finished and the other worker moved over to me, at this point the water for my feet is cold. I asked to change it and she emptied it, leaving the foot that she wasn't working on cold and wet. She refilled it with water after it sat for approx 10 mins, thank you for that. I didn't catch her name, as she didn't give it, she did a decent job on the toe nails. An outstanding job with the bottom of the foot, I'll give them another star for that. 3/5 would cost most uber drivers their job if they were borderline, but if they had a good background, it would just look bad. read more
