The place is very specious and kitchen is very clean as well as the bathrooms The only improvement I recommend is making sure there enough propane for the fire pit and getting fire pit fixed and the outdoor lighting fix as it's hard to bq in the dark. We wanted to do s'mores in the fire pit while giving space to the adult guest with the little people but it worked out and the adults shared the second fire pit to do the s'more's . Lastly get parking lights fixed it's really dark in the parking lot luckily Monterey very safe just come prepared with flashlight

Hostel is very clean and well maintained. Walking distance to many things including the beach. They are dorms and private rooms. The kitchen has lots of cooking tools, fridge and pantry space and a "free" bin of food from past guests. It's nice they have free earplugs, a calendar of free events or nearby events. Large family style table by the tv and an area to casually hangout. Love the environmentally conscious awareness throughout. They had soaps and toiletries if you need it which is nice. The bed was comfortable and other guests very respectful of quiet hours. Bathroom and showers are in each room which is very nice and feels luxurious compared to other hostels. Overall a lovely family friendly hostel, great location, well decorated in plants and beautiful art. Starbucks and other food just walking distance.

We enjoyed being able to walk everywhere and we loved the historical aspect of the Inn. There is a small parking lot on the property, but we chose to park on the street (it's free) because there was a space right in front of our cottage door. The staff is very friendly. The star was lost because of the poor breakfast. Cold bagels, no butter, tiny, tasteless cold pastries. Sad because the little breakfast room with its cozy seating is very inviting.

It felt like we were inconveniencing her by having the audacity to check into our room. The room was small but that's fine, it's to be expected. Note that the walls are THIN AS CAN BE. I could hear the room next to us flush their toilet. I wish I was joking. The worst part was the shower head. The first day it was spraying a bit to the sides and got the bathroom floor a little wet. The second day all hell broke loose and the entire bathroom was soaked after a 5 minute shower. I had to wipe down the counter, the toilet, and the sink from all the shower water. I've never experienced anything like it. The "continental breakfast" is pathetic. Cold and tiny pastries and blueberry bagels. So expect to eat elsewhere for breakfast. I recommend Winston's around the corner (it's outstanding). The lady at the front desk the day we checked out and that I reported the shower leak to was very hospitable. To be honest, she was the only positive part of this entire experience. I'm just so disappointed in this place. I was really looking forward to our stay but it fell short in every way plus some. For around $200 a night during off season on a week day GO ELSEWHERE TRUST ME.

Our cockapoo took a step and it was as if she was walking on ice. I understand the reasoning: the ease of cleaning up accidents, pet hair and other hazards of being a pet friendly motel and not charging extra fee outweighs the luxury of carpet. We had to feed her on the bed and bring her water bowl to her. The location proved quiet and we were able to park our car right outside our room. Two complaints though: the faucet in the tub dripped, no matter what we did. California is experiencing a drought. The waste of water is troubling and should be addressed. Complaint number two: the beds were torturous. I can not recall ever being more uncomfortable. The floor might have been better. I have a suspicion they purchased enough frames for all room, beds for half the rooms, split them up and put mattresses in half the rooms, box springs in the others. We slept on box springs. They were very stiff, had no padding to speak of covering the surface and they were noisy. The pillows were nice - not too soft or hard and the bedding left a bit to be desired. A sheet, light blanket and thin bedspread would be fine for a location farther south. All in all, we give it a thumbs up: the location is great, Dennys across the street, Starbucks, donut shops and several restaurants within a few blocks that deliver with Doordash. The sore back every morning would make me think twice next time.

I submitted an online cancellation form, which was never processed. The next morning I called again and was told to wait until 11 AM for the manager. When I finally reached the manager, my request was flatly refused, and the manager was rude and unhelpful. I made every effort in good faith to fix my mistake immediately, and this property still refused to refund $251.64. Very disappointing customer service.

Conveniently located in downtown Monterey, the hotel is in a great location and both the room and common facilities felt spacious, comfortable, and well maintained. One of the highlights of the stay was the staff. Everyone I interacted with was friendly, welcoming, and professional. The only downside was the noise. My room faced an area where street cleaning took place early in the morning, and it was loud enough to interrupt my sleep. If you're a light sleeper, it may be worth requesting a room away from the street. For those who are driving in / renting a car, please note that they only offer valet at this hotel and there isn't self parking available.

Front desk staff helpful as well. Nice touch to have fresh popped popcorn and lemonade refreshments in the lobby in the evenings. Housekeeping on the 5th floor in particular need attention - towels left in the hallways and not picked up in days. Hallways needed to be vacuumed. The rooms were updated despite the exterior of the hotel looking very distressed. Management please train your staff that when DND is on the door that means do not come in the room. To our dismay, staff came in our room despite the sign.
