I'll start with appreciation to the staff, they were very welcoming and appreciative that my wife and I chose to stay at this hotel. I would give it zero stars if I could. I made a reservation online for Saturday and Sunday. When I got the confirmation email they had changed it to Friday and Saturday. Conveniently there are no refunds or cancellations. $120 gone for nothing. I called customer service and there is nothing they can do. Couldn't change the reservation to the right date or give me a reimbursement of any kind. SCAM SCAM SCAM. Do not recommend! Do not stay here! DO NOT STAY HERE me and my brother both reserved rooms for a week which was all good and was a 2 queen room, when we got there the front desk said they had no 2 queen beds available after arguing for awhile he said he only had 1 night available for the queen rooms, I got to my room and as soon as I opened the door a old rotten food kind of smell rushed over me and I could barely enter without heaving, mind you it was two full size beds not queens, my brothers was not any better, both beds scattered in bugs aswell as the bathroom 0/5 stars read more

Where to start? I was greeted by a very friendly man at the front desk. He was really nice and helpful. My room was 114 and was located right by the outside door exit where people went in and out all day and night to smoke. This was a problem when I was trying to sleep because the door would make loud noises opening and closing. I walked into my room and was greeted by a bad odor. Think cat urine meets armpits. I shut the door behind me reluctantly as I looked around the old, dirty and outdated room. Light fixtures visibly rusted and needed to be replaced. The blanket on the bread was an ugly brown color. The blanket had not been washed in a long time and had stains. I set down my bags and went into the bathroom to wash my hands and when I turned on the light to grab a towel to dry my hands off I looked over into the toilet and there was what I can only describe as "poop soup". This was so disgusting. Since there was a new bar of soap and a fresh floor towel draped on the tub this meant the person who cleaned my room used the toilet but didn't flush it or they left the previous guests soup in the toilet and didn't clean the toilet and didn't even flush it. I flushed the toilet and then noticed that the shower head was not just dirty from calcium and hard water deposits but was moldy with greenish mold. So I knew right then that I wasn't going to shower the next morning. I had a rough night's sleep after all of that and the exit door right outside of my room was not helping either. I woke up many times during the night and when I turned on the lights to go to the bathroom I saw cockroaches. Do yourself a favor and skip staying at this location. read more

If I could give zero stars I certainly would! I checked into the Americas Best Value Inn Caldwell. I specifically picked this hotel on the Southwest Hotel website because they allowed pets. The reservation stated that upon arrival inform the hotel of the pet. Which I did. This should all be documented on the hotel's camera system. The front desk clerk just said okay and proceeded to have me sign paperwork and handed me my key and told me where my room was located. He was too busy on the phone and in a hurry to hear anything I had to say. I then loaded my things from my vehicle into the room all the while with my dog on a lease in tote. Again this can be seen on the hotel camera. In no way was I trying to hide my pet. Again, I had already booked through southwest hotels making a reservation for a pet-friendly location (all documented through my reservation that I had a pet) and then informed the clerk upon check-in. I stayed at the hotel for approx. 30 mins and then left to meet my brother who was graduating from college (the reason for the trip) for dinner. Upon my return, the clerk had locked me out of my room. Stating I never told him I had a dog. I explained that I had and he proceeded to say no and you did not pay the deposit for the dog. I offered to pay the deposit and he refused all the while still refusing me entry to the room. I then explained he had to either take the deposit and allow me to stay or he needed to allow me access to the room to gather my dog and belongings. He refused to do either for upwards of 35 mins. The clerk kept saying he called Expedia and I tried explaining all the while I did not book through Expedia but booked through southwest hotels. He refused to listen, refused me access to my things, and refused to take any deposit. I was then forced to call the police to get access to my room and belongings. The police informed me they have had to make several visits to this property because of problems with the staff. I immediately had to find other accommodations last minute on graduation weekend (where everything was booked). I ended up finding one hotel 35 mins away in a very run-down area. Where I overpaid and was concerned for my safety all night. The entire trip turned into a stressful horrible experience and while such an important life event was occurring within my family! I would 100% not recommend this hotel to my worst enemy. I have stayed in nicer, less run-down hotels (it isn't the cleanest location or the best-kept property by any means) and never had an issue bringing my small dog along. I am an honest person and always make the appropriate reservations to accommodate my pet and pay any fees associated with that. I still can not for the life of me figure out what the clerk wanted the outcome to be considering he refused my money and refused me access to my pet and belonging. I would, however, like to say, the police department did a wonderful job and I appreciate their help although I hope no guest ever has to deal with this situation again with this hotel. read more

My stay at this hotel was very pleasant. The staff was super friendly and all of the amenities had modern touches, including flat screen TVs and free wifi. The complimentary breakfast was great too and I had a Texas size (and shaped!) waffle. Overall, this place is the best bang for your buck if you are visiting the Bryan/College Station area and don't want to drop a ton of cash. Will definitely stay here again! read more

Stayed here for a month for work, within that month no breakfast was served, coffee was made ONCE. Internet went down twice for a week at a time. Found a couple roaches in my room until the whole 100 and 200 hall flooded knee deep and we had to move to the other side of the hotel. The gym is only two treadmills. The pool has so much chlorine in it that it'll burn your eyes walking in the room. There is only one washer and dryer, they work fine but good luck getting an opening. read more

I can't believe this hotel ever got a good review. First of all, it looks like an old nursing home. We walked in to beds that are on a platform that sticks out around the mattress by 4 inches. There is no box springs, the mattress sits on 5 wooden slats. The sheets are all flat sheets that come off the bed when you try to pull them back. The air conditioning was not adjustable which left the room at a muggy lukewarm temperature. The carpet even felt damp to my feet.We didn't get in until 1:00 am after midnight yell. So we slept through breakfast which ended at 9:00 on the weekend. Who does that?? Plus we were woken up by housekeeping at 9:11 to see if we were checking out that day! Don't they know who is checking out?? I guess of you have no other choice, it's a place to catch some shut eye, but definitely not worth the price of $139. I will definitely not be staying here again. I hope we aren't taking bed bugs home with us. read more

DO NOT USE THIS HOTEL. EVEN IF YOU RESERVE 3 MONTHS IN ADVANCE THROUGH A SERVICE LIKE BOOKING.COM. Last Sunday on 9/2/2018 I called customer service because the America's Best Value Inn in Caldwell, Texas had told my husband over the phone that they had cancelled our reservation with them that we made with Booking. Booking still showed the reservation and their customer service confirmed it. This is the second time this particular hotel has done this to us. It happened to us in April and we had to drive 2 hours home to Austin at one in the morning because there were no rooms available at that hotel or in the surrounding areas. (I know, I know. Why give them a second chance? Limited options near a college town for football game weekend.) Booking gave us $50 for our troubles. Since we happened to catch this "cancellation" for our supposed September 8th stay early, my husband was able to secure a room directly with the hotel using our credit card. The hotel's explanation is that Booking does not provide them with contact information for the person reserving the room, so they release the room to other people who need it. This seems fishy to me since Booking would charge our card for the hotel even if we were a no show. When I called back to speak with someone at the hotel, the woman on the phone who works weekends told me it is better to reserve directly with the hotel rather than go through Booking. Since I had reserved my room 3 months earlier through Booking, she assured me she would give me the same rate and that yes, we had a room because my husband secured it with his card. In fact, he had two rooms reserved with the hotel at that point because we had friends joining us. She told me to cancel my Booking reservation because she had my husband's info and two rooms for us SEPARATE from the Booking reservation I had done 3 months prior. So I did. Well, we show up at the hotel at one in the morning after a late college football game in College Station only to find out that once again they did not have a room for us. Needless to say, there is nothing Booking can do for us because we had booked directly with the hotel at this point instead of through Booking, but I am sure that if we had shown up with a reservation through Booking we would have met the same fate since it happened to us in April. The woman behind the desk last night was the same one I spoke to on the phone last Sunday and said she was the night manager. My husband became a little heated given that we were facing a 2 hour drive home, meaning a 3 a.m. ETA before we would be able to sleep. The woman is unhelpful. She is rude. She just shakes her head at the computer like it is someone else's fault. No apologies are issued. I ONLY WANTED A HOTEL ROOM. I am writing this review to let people know to STOP USING THIS HOTEL. Something shady is going on. I saw on Booking reviews that this same thing happened to someone at this hotel in May, but it turned out okay because a room was available. The staff at this hotel is INCOMPETENT when it comes to computer systems, apparently, whether it is through Booking or their own system. My conjecture is that they rent reserved rooms to other people needing them if it is getting late at night and the people with the original reservation have not checked in yet. My best guess is that they do this in the hopes of the people who reserved the room originally not showing and being able to charge them but still rent the room for additional money to someone else. The issue is when the people reserving the room originally show up for the room after a late game and it is already gone. No room at the inn. I obviously will NEVER AGAIN STAY at this hotel. It is unfortunate, because when room availability is not an issue, it is a clean and cheap place to stay about 30 minutes outside of College Station. Rooms in College Station hike prices up on football weekends and also fill up fast. Looks like I will pay the hiked up prices elsewhere and rest easy in the knowledge that I will have a room guaranteed to be mine when I show up to check in. read more

Needless to say, I will NEVER stay at this inn again. The lady at the front desk was very helpful and sweet. BUT I had four rooms, two people in each room and three out of the four rooms had issues. I went to go into my room and the room was not cleaned. Both of the beds were messed up and the room stunk of old food. We then went to the counter to get another room and another guest came up and said that it was the same issue in her room. Both on separate sides of the Inn. I got into my new room and it was decent-though the bathroom wasn't clean. The toilet was dirty and the shower has dirt stains all around it. Anyway, the rest of crowd came and went into their rooms. One of the rooms had an extreme smell of bleach and the other had COCKROACHES in it. Which just blew me off the edge. I went out to eat with some of the people that were checked in as well and when I came back my curtains were closed. Which I know for a fact I did not do before I left the room. So now not only was this place disgusting but I also had to worry about the security of the room. Luckily nothing was taken but I had two MacBook's and an iPad in there, so you can assume why I would not be too happy about this. I've stayed at some pretty bad hotels before and so far this has been the absolute worse. This was not worth the money at all and I would never recommend this hotel to anyone. read more

Filthy and awful. Service was terrible. Checked in at 7pm and went to my daughter's house without checking the room. Traveling since 6am to see her. Got to hotel at 10pm. Room wreacked of cigarette smoke. Carpet was sticky and room was humid and hot. Holes in tje dingy sheets. Went to desk and rang the bell several times. No one came to the window for 15 min. It was like a ghost town. Could not find any help. Finally called the hotel standing at the desk and someone answered. Told her I needed help but no one was at the desk. She asked me what I needed. Told her about the room and she said she would be right there. She came out of the open door of the room behind the office where she had been the whole time I was standing out there ringing the bell. Only giving one star because it won't let me give zero. read more

If I could choose zero stars to review this hotel I would. Instead of handling customer complaints, this hotel chooses to use the local police department to handle situations for them which turned into two likely unlawful arrests on hotel property. Customers complaining about an AC unit that had been out for over 24 hours were met by police due to the clerk's unwillingness to call a maintenance person. The overnight clerk hands out room keys to anyone that asks and doesn't require identification, I would not suggest booking a room here in fear of someone you don't know making their way into your room in the middle of the night. If you value your safety this is not the place for you! When I approached the desk to speak with the clerk he had shut off the lights and gone into a back office to hide. I will not be returning to an America's Best Value Inn in any city. read more

Well, the staff was nice and friendly. Free breakfast was meh even though everything was sealed in plastic. The bugs and I slept well and the room appeared clean. The front desk was shielded in plexiglass and the Inn's front door requires a room key. I guess I might be in a bad neighborhood? It's a good choice if your other option is to sleep in your car. read more

BE ADVISED- This hotel does not honor any Loyalty programs offered by Hotels.com and its affiliates. Upon arrival my credit card was immediately charged from the number saved through the website. When i told them i had a free night through Hotels.com and was not to be charged they said they couldnt see where the booking said so (they sure found my credit card number just fine). Room was mediocre at best. Had to exchange sheets 3 times because the sheets had various hair types (pubic,facial head) still in them. We requested a late checkout at the front desk AND to the head housekeeper the next day because we didn't sleep well on the caved in bed. This was useless because every 30 minutes they were knocking on the door, aka zero communication among the hotel staff. My expectations weren't high coming here ( all I really wanted were some clean sheets) but after this experience we will just stay somewhere in college station next time. Pros? The AC and TV were adequate and worked well. read more
