Amerigas is horrible. They were acceptable 5 years ago when I first moved into my home but now they just suck. The American call center has been replaced with a foreign one (Philippines, I think) and the language barrier is not good. Then if you can communicate with them, it can be a long time before you actually get the gas, even if you are paying the expedited fee. They have left me hanging with no propane several times. I call them when I am low; and before they arrive, I have run out. The last time it took them several weeks to get here When I spoke to the driver who finally arrived (at 2 am, no joke) he said he was their only driver for a service are that is HUGE. One driver? Wow. Pretty sure that is not acceptable. Now... I am FORCED to do business with this company. They want THOUSANDS to come get their tank (that I do not have) and no other propane companies will fill that tank. In a normal situation I would just get new tank from someone else, get delivery from someone else and call it good. But instead I am stuck with this lousy company. read more

Worst ever customer service!! I have a rental in Cheney WA and without mine or our property managers approval, Amerigas put a propane tank on the property. I am selling the place and I cannot get anyone to call me back, return emails, or respond to communications on their own website. I have called every local number and I get forwarded to the same operator. As owner of the property they will not let me authorize the tank removal. The previous tenants are on the account, but state the tank was already there and they only paid for a fill. They stated the account is closed. They did not sign up for assuming tank rental and no one asked them too. I read Amerigas' policy and it states: 2. TERM. Leased Equipment. If you are leasing equipment from Company, your term will be three (3) years from the date on which you signed your Agreement, or if you did not sign an Agreement, three years from the date on which you began service with Company by receiving your first delivery of propane (the "Initial Term") and WILL AUTOMATICALLY RENEW MONTH-TO-MONTH THEREAFTER (each a "Renewal Term") unless either you or Company provides the other with advance written notice of non-renewal at least thirty (30) days prior to the end of the Initial Term or the then-current Renewal Term. I called the 800 number again, wait time 2 hours, spoke with the operator, explained the situation and they refused to give me any other information, such as who authorized a tank to be placed on the premises, what date it was on, and please have someone call me back because it needs to be removed. Absolutely the worst. We switched to a local company because the were over a dollar cheaper per gallon. When I called to cancel our service, I could not understand the person on the other end of the line then I had to sit on hold for 20 minutes. Once I did talk to someone I could understand, they said there could be fee's depending on the region discretion, come to find out the charges start at 200.00 just to come pick up the empty propane tank. You current AmeriGas customers, have you looked at your propane additional invoice charges? Haz Mat Fee, Fuel Recovery Fee, Paper Invoice Fee, State Sales Tax, City Sales Tax, Local Sales Tax. Not to mention the high price they are charging per gallon for propane. The tipping point for me was the ongoing poor customer service, mostly based overseas somewhere (Philippines) Needless to say, I have moved my propane business elsewhere (Arrow Propane) as there are options, like, free tank delivery and setup, propane delivered at 2.10/Gal without all of those additional charges! Just state sales tax. And with excellent customer service and a friendly staff, how can you lose? UPDATE; I just had my AmeriGas tank picked up after having to wait almost a month, and involving the Better Business Bureau. But now, they have invoiced me $457.78! One of those charges is 299.99 for coming to pick up their own tank and close my account! BUYER BEWARE! As this is not the place you want to use for your propane supplies or gas needs. I ordered a propane tank even signed a contract. To have a 325 gallon tank delivered. They came out and survived the property. Then said they would not hook it up to me 5th wheel. Which is my home. They claimed county ordinance made it difficult to get approved. This was a lie. I contacted Ferrellgas and found out that there was no problem. In fact they're going to be hooking me up. I have talked to two reps and both times I was talked to terribly and ended up having to tell the CS rep I was ending the call cause I was so angry. Keep in mind I was starting a NEW ACCOUNT! I was new business and treated poorly. I too have a job with customer service aspects and did not come at this looking for a headache. Gas is needed, I just wanted a basic service. What a nightmare. If I could leave a negative review I would. Customer service is beyond unacceptable- a different person on the line with no tracking of previous calls. No longer a local company to the area. Billing sucks. Tried to resolve a billing overcharge on tank rental. First call April 2, I was told it would be resolved in 24-48 hrs. My second call back on 4/10 told me to pay invoice less the extra charge and they would credit the amount. I called back a third time on 4/22 after checking my account and not seeing the credit. I was told they would not give me previous year tank cost. Fed up with this company after being a 30+ year customer. I'll be looking at other companies that treat long term customers better. read more

We ordered propane on December 1st, and 19 days later still can't get a delivery. There isn't a local number to call, it's a foreign call center. They keep stating that there were problems with delivery; it's a tank out in the open, and there's never been an issue in the previous 4 years. It's negligent business to lie to people about primary heat source deliveries! read more

We've been customers of Amerigas and enrolled in autodelivery for many years. 10 days ago our tank ran empty. I called customer service and was routed to their call center in India. Was told that the tank went empty because on our account we were showing as "will call" for delivery, and that this was a mistake resulting from a software update or something like that at Amerigas. I got them to waive the $300 expedited delivery fee they wanted to charge to deliver propane sooner than the 5-10 business days I was originally told. They then told me propane would be delivered in 1-2 days. It was 3. After delivery, propane was not coming to the house. Over the course of a week I spoke on the phone or communicated via online chat with 7-8 different agents, and conservatively spent a cumulative 4-5hrs on hold or waiting on the chat agent trying to get the issue resolved. Mind you that temperatures were below freezing during this time and we were without heat, hot water, or the ability to cook. The latest communication was that they would send a service technician tomorrow, after eleven days of no propane. With temperatures forecast to drop this weekend, we were very concerned about our pipes freezing, bursting, and causing significant water damage and other issues in our home. It did not seem safe to wait for Amerigas to show up so we ended up calling a local plumber to get the gas going to the house again, at a cost of around $350. Amerigas is the worst. read more

I cannot get anyone on the phone for service or paying a bill I have been on hold for an Hour 3 times this week. I finally lied and said it was for new service and they just transferred me without a word I never finished my sentence. Tried to pay online because they keep sending bills to address not being used at this time. I would not ever recommend this business to anyone. read more

Good luck getting through to a person, and once you do, it will be someone who's sole purpose is to get off the phone. I explained to Shakira that I have a sick infant and need gas and hot water. She told me everyone had left for the day so there's nothing she could do. It was mid day. I asked to speak to supervisor, she wouldn't let me. I asked to speak to literally anyone else, she wouldn't let me. My infant child is sick. I'm currently at the hospital waiting to hear if he's going to be ok. He got sick because I had no heat, and no hot water for almost a week. Amerigas promised me they'd come everyday, for 5 days. I trusted them. Don't make the same mistake I did. Ran out of gas on the 18th. I am on automatic refill. Strike one. I call first thing the morning of the 19th, they say they will be out same day. No show. Told they will be out tomorrow. Morning of the 20th still no show. I call 3 times that day. Eventually told they will be out tomorrow. Morning of the 21st- I call again... was just told they will be out tomorrow. I have out of state company, and a bridal shower at my house this evening- we are all going on day 4 with no ability to cook or bathe. Still no gas. Go somewhere else! read more

Worst customer service ever. You must deal with a foreign call center where noone speaks English. When I couldn't get help and asked for supervisor, they refused, several attempts. I would give Amerigas zero if it's allowed. The WORST customer service I have ever experienced. I was put on hold and then into a call center when trying to get a credit back that was owed to me. Never did get the credit. Also to get a tank refill it has to be ordered online and I am required to pay up front and there is no option to apply my credit. Frustrated, I made an appointment took the day off and when I called for a closer time schedule, they said I didn't have an appointment... I had exact times written and the cost and date... they show my account open with my credit card ... have to wait 2 more weeks for the tank instillation because someone on their end made a mistake!!!! Don't do business with this propane company. I was a Northern Energy customer for 20+ years with great service but when Amerigas took over it all turned to crap. Can't talk to a local person and customer service is terrible. I can not explain in a few words how upset I am with Amerigas.
