This is quite possibly the worst run business I have ever encountered. Customer service is non existent. I tried calling the 800 number multiple days just to find out if we were on auto fill as we didn't know if our tank was running out. No option to talk to a human ever and the web site is a disaster. I followed an Amerigas truck into one of their facilities and the buffoon who got out immediately raised both of his hands and walked up to me and demanded "what are you doing in here?" I said that I was a customer and he barked at me "We don't talk to customers. Call the 800 number. I started telling him that I had tried for weeks and he walked up to my car and said "This is a secure facility. Exit the secure facility NOW." I don't believe I have ever reviewed a company on Yelp before but Amerigas deserves this. Avoid this company at all costs. read more

Had to cancel service request 3 times , and guys showed up anyway! They tried to charge me $350 for work that didn't need doing! The guys that showed up were very nice! The problem is the answering service that doesn't have a clue what's going on, and the in some other country? Joke. read more

I have called 5 times to have my account cancelled. I have also emailed you and received no response. There is a tenant at the house I used to rent. He still lives there and is using the propane that you are trying to charge me for. I'm still receiving past due balance notices in the mail. I have spoken with 6 different representatives, each time they assure me that they will transfer the balance to the current tenant of the property and my account will be canceled and closed with a zero balance. I demand that my balance be transferred to the current tenant, because I am not, and have not been living at this address since May 1st, 2023. All of the propane in the tank is being used by the current resident, yet YOU are trying to charge ME for it. Fix this immediately and send me a statement with a zero balance. Horrible company now!!!! Run and don't look back. All customer service can do is apologize. They can't ever get you the delivery on time, no matter which option you choose (fixed or by tank level) all of the customer support people are overseas and don't understand what needs to be done to help you so they just give you the canned. "Sorry you're going through this" reply. They have left us out in the cold many times now. At best your emergency order gets you a delivery in a week. Amerigas for delivery in Tahoe is a joke. They accepted my order on December 11th when I had plenty of time and said up to a week. Two weeks later no propane so I agree to an emergency $300 delivery. Two weeks later still no delivery (I paid emergency delivery to Ferrell Gas and they were there the next day). Was a fine company when it was a locally owned Truckee-Tahoe Propane. read more

No rating. I would say -5 rating. They have been lying to us for 2 1/2 mons. We bought a new home and the contractor had leased the tank from Amerigas which it is also underground and they will not fill it until they complete their safety check. I have spent hours calling them and each time we have to start over and me and my husband have separately approximately 40 minutes to over an hour on each call. Another year and SAME problems. They do not deliver and lie outright about the reasons. DRIVEWAY TOO ICY? UNACCESSABLE. I had neighbor GO OVER TO the property and path to tank. THEY TOOK PHOTOS. It was NOT unaccessible. SAME AS USUAL IN APRIL AND ITS 55 DEGREES NOW. I called FOUR times to their Bangledesh? operators and each time was promised an EMERGENCY delivery within 24 hours. AND THE USUALY SORRYS! That was SIX days ago. Called again today and told it's coming tomorrow,. I just drove four+ hours each way to check the driveway for ice (none) and tamp down the snowy foot path to the tank. I'm 80 years old and managed to walk over to the tank Online is IMPOSSIBLE to use. Got in but could NOT check my account or arrange delivery. I've been waiting for a refill for 12 days and I'm set up for auto refill. Last week they promised I would get a refill and today my level has dropped to 0. I was promised by a supervisor ( after waiting on line for 90 min) that I would get a delivery today, it never happened. All they teach the staff is to say I'm sorry and I understand, in reality they don't give a damn. So I opened my front door to find a letter from Amerigas in Truckee, saying that my customer agreement has been terminated because they couldn't contact me after "numerous written and verbal attempts". WTF!? No mail, no calls, no voicemails. A complete surprise. They claimed that they needed to upgrade my installation to meet recent fire protection ordinance changes, in a "no cost to you" program. It's very convenient of them to terminate my service before I could complain, then insist that since I'm no longer a customer, the "no cost to you" program no longer applies, and if I want to "come back", I have to pay for the improvements... Of course they're willing to do the work, for a fee. So I tried calling the office. After two minutes of California privacy disclosures and a message about COVID, the main number announces that it can't take my call and just hangs up. I have yet to have success calling the main office number after three days of trying. There was another phone number in the letter that had a default (generic) voicemail greeting, and, not sure if I was even calling the right company, I left a message. When I called back a few days later, the generic greeting was replaced by one asking people who received the same letter I got to leave a message. Of course the mailbox was full. They finally called back four days later. On a Saturday. The "inspection" report they left just had a bunch of "yes/no" checkboxes, not "pass/fail" checkboxes, so it wasn't clear what exactly they were upset about. They went over it with me on the phone, but considering this place is new construction, and passed final inspection 7 years ago, it all seems fishy to me. I'll be following up with the county building dept. and Truckee district attorney's office to see if it's just me or this is more widespread, which, judging by the voicemail greeting and full voicemail box, it seems like it is. These guys are serious terrible at delivering propane. I am on auto-fill, meaning my tank should never go below 20% yet I run out a couple times a year and any calls get routed out of the country. We I recently called I was told 2 days . . . and I was on zero, and autofill so never should be anywhere near a situation like this. Does anyone know a better service? Been waiting for propane delivery for months. Since tank is at 0%, we have to be at the house so I asked numerous times that Amerigas call me in advance so I can plan to be at the house since I live 3 hours away. Amerigas says they've attempted to deliver 7 times, but without getting notice in advance when they plan to deliver, how can I plan to be there if they can't give me a planned delivery date ?!!! If you're looking for quality customer service, you won't get it from Amerigas. I've been a customer for over 12 yrs, but when I really needed them this season, they failed miserably. I left a review for the Reno location. Today I was helped by this location which turns out is just as garbage as the other. Zero service, insane prices and not a care in the world. I'm renovating my entire house with the single purpose of TERMINATING MY AMERIGAS SERVICE and I can't wait for the day they remove the ugly 30year old leaking tanks. They own the tanks and they leak...but want to charge hundred of dollars to fix the tank....that they own! Not to mention my $300 tank rent. read more

Received certified mail cancelling service after "We were unable to get a response from you." They did call once - I did schedule them to come out and conduct their inspection. They did not come out. Now they are not answering the phone. To be honest the local office seems ok - they have delivered propane when we need them to, online scheduling is easy. But they threatened to shut off service right when we bought the house (saying they were unable to contact us) and now are doing the same. Seems that they have a lot of issues trying to contact people, but not billing us. In this day and age they should be able to send out emails very easily. read more

Three weeks ago I opened an account and scheduled a site inspection. They were supposed to come on a Tuesday and never showed up. I called that Friday and they said that there had been an emergency. The person I talked to said the propane tank would be delivered the following Wednesday. They never delivered the propane tank. I called back that Friday and was told that I cannot get propane delivered until December 7. That is almost a month from the time I paid for the site inspection and open the account. read more

So, so bad. They came out for 'routine' maintenance, caused a leak, and when they came back to fix the leak, charged me $210 for the repair. Even though they said I shouldn't be charged, and everyone I speak with says I shouldn't have been charged, I'm now 5 phone calls in and a month later and it's still 'under review'. Said they had tried to contact us to have the work done but in reality they sent one letter and when we called they said they were to busy and would call back....they never did. I have a vacation rental in Truckee. My home has been rented out for the last 2 years with the propane in the last tenants name. Unfortunitely, the last tenant never put the contact back in my name. I never recieved any communication from Amerigas over the last 2 years regarding their policies. I called to have tank filled and was told it's a 7 day delivery with 24 hours notice and an 8 hour window for delivery. Someone had to be there to do a safety check. After 6 phones calls, 3 hang ups on their end, I finally got through to someone who said they could do a 72 hours delivery with a 2 hour notice and they would wave $200 fee since I was never told about policy and the inconvenience. As today was 72 hours, I called to check on delivery and was told, no, can't deliver until tomorrow. No calls, no emails to tell me about changes. They said there was nothing they could do. I asked to speak with a supervisor and once again, they hung up on me. As soon as I am able, I will transfer my account to another propane company. Amerigas is rude, unhelpful, horrible policies, difficult to get through to speak with someone and they literally don't care. One very nice gentlemen, John, told me that yes there are policies, but the person who answers the phone can make exceptions. The customer service is horrific. This is our 2nd home. We had been on a "Keep Full" service since 1994. Last winter, Jan 2020, we were told the tank needed an upgrade in order to continue service after the Jan 2020 fill. A yellow tag was placed on the tank. Mid-way through Christmas week 2020, Tuesday, the heat went off. We called Amerigas, 40 minute hold before we got through to their South American Call Center, and were told they attempted to fill the tank in August but didn't because it was "yellow tagged" We were never contacted, Amerigas neglected to do the upgrade on their tank. We were told it would take 2-3 days before they could get the issue resolved and the tank filed....We spent the night without heat. I called Hunt & Sons Propane in Reno at 8:30am, by 12:00 noon they had removed the crappy Amerigas tank, replaced it with a brand new Hunt & Sons tank and filled it. If I could give Amerigas zero stars I would... Terrible, Terrible, Terrible. Stay clear of this company at all costs. read more
