I first went to Auckland University where I was failing. So I went to AUT where I got all A's for my generic first year classes. This is not because the lecturers were better or anything, but because the work was easier. So yes AUT has a great reputation for being the EASIER university. 2 stars because I did have fun and made friends and all that BS. I also graduated and made good money. But overall the quality of lecturers we got were bad. I remember all my professors at Auckland Uni all being Doctors. We had professors that had diplomas or just bachelors. Shouldn't they all have at least a masters or something to teach us?

Apart from that the new WG building is amazing and has state of the art technology. My favourite part about this building is level 5 which is dedicated to year 3 communications and post graduate students. The building has amazing facilities, state of the art type technology. The university also serves health options such as the $5 buffet meal at the Hub cafe and $5 noodle boxes at newsfeed. Plenty of things to do and hang out.

It was established in 1883 & today about 40,000 students are enrolled on 5 Auckland campuses. The City Campus, in the Auckland CBD, has the bulk of the students & faculty . There are 8 faculties, including a law school & 3 associated research institutes. I was impressed to see a full Māori Marea on campus. I understand there are over 3,000 or almost 8% Of the student body is aboriginal. They have a study abroad for program & American students are in attendance & seem happy here.

Well, the education and facilities may be great, but the admin is PURE CONCENTRATED HELL! Okay, there I said it. Whether it's sending you to the back of beyond for a lecture about Asian Cinema to some obscure place in the Science Building, not telling you that they changed what papers you have to do for your degree in the middle of your degree, or sending you to multiple different offices just so someone can finally say 'no, sorry, we can't help you with that'. Bureacratic red tape nightmare! Make sure you check and double check your papers every year and don't give up if you need something. Also, never, ever listen to what SSO tells you. It's all crap. Go talk to a human being, preferably your faculty HOD. Don't get me wrong though: I absolutely loved going to Auckland. I recommend you sign up at the AUSA, just so you get the free diary (with map inside). It helped me with 4 years of Uni! :)

Specialising the hands-on, more creative courses like Graphic Design, Filmmaking and Building, Unitec offers fantastic tertiary programmes that are now recognised and valued overseas. Though I haven't personally attended Unitec, I really wish I had. I completed a BA degree at Auckland Uni and not a day goes by that I don't consider studying film or photography at Unitec. This isn't helped by the fact that I live right beside it, and am constantly impressed by the different events that are held on Unitec's grounds. Moreover, I am constantly envious of the grounds themselves. Unlike other university campuses in Auckland, Unitec offers its students free onsite parking, and dozens of appealing outdoor, spacious areas in which to study or sun yourself during breaks. The fields at Unitec are great. Despite being located within the realm of central Auckland, when on the Unitec campus you feel somewhat removed from it all. And unlike other universities, the atmosphere at Unitec is really welcoming and relaxed. If I ever go back to study, it will be at Unitec! Tip: The Unitec carparks are a great place to learn to drive. The little roads connecting each building are relatively traffic free during the weekend so are the perfect place to get used to driving and parking!

It has that decaying and old worldly feel that makes you particularly drawn to it as a haunted house, but the fact it was a psychiatric hospital really adds to the creepy flavour. I say 'was', but there's still the Mason Clinic on campus for the criminally insane. Would you still like to go to University here? Well, I've heard good and bad things about Unitec. In my experience, it's a fascinating place to visit, take photos in and they are constantly drawing people in with new and innovative events, functions and programmes. Don't try and make a movie here unless you have big bucks, cause they will charge you big bucks for the effort, unless you happen to be a Unitec student. Aside from that, it's worth a squiz any day!

The Auckland University Library will literally save your life if you are a student at UA!…read more This library holds any book your degree could possibly require, as well as a seemingly infinite number of resources for assignments and reports. I have spent countless hours burrowed in the library researching and can quite honestly say I would have been lost without it. I know the library may seem daunting if you're a new student or have never been shown how to use the system, but it's actually pretty simple and is totally worth asking the librarians for help - that is what they're there for and it will save you hours of painful researching! Tip: You don't have to be an Auckland Uni student to use this library. Anyone can walk in and look up books or use their desks as a quiet space to study, you just won't be able to hire anything.

This is the general library at the University and it's pretty good as far as university libraries…read morego. I always found the interloans staff (the ones who help you to get your hands on a specific obscure journal article that your whole year will end up being a failure without) a little brusque and intimidating, but the rest of the staff were generally quite approachable and very helpful. The staff on the issues desk where you check your books out often seem to be undergrads who are more asleep than awake, but hey, I guess it's not the most exciting job in the world. The best thing about the library is how easy it is to find a really quiet desk to study at, and the proximity of a stretch of lawn to recover on, and the food court just across the road.
