We booked Amethyst through a third party vendor site for our wedding 7 months before the date. When we booked we made a song request for the bride's walk down the aisle. It is a very popular song covered by many string quartets online. Lara said great and she would touch base as the date neared. Fast forward 6 months and it's 3 weeks before our wedding, I hadn't heard from Lara and the remainder of the balance was due in a few days. So I reached out to her to touch base and she notified me that she couldn't find the sheet music and to make another selection. I googled sheet music for our song and found many options. She still insisted nothing could be done about it, to make another selection and pay the remainder of the balance. I called her the next day and expressed that we felt blindsided given we had not been made aware there was a problem with our song request in the 6 months since our initial request. She was unapologetic and lacked accountability. She cited how busy she was and that even if she did find the sheet music she would have to spend hours rearranging it for her trio. Due the lack of communication and empathy we felt that Amethyst Trio may not be the right fit for us after all. So when we notified Lara we were cancelling our agreement and would no longer need her services she frantically replied that she was in fact able to find the sheet music after all and that everything was all good for our wedding, and again insisted we pay the remainder of the balance. Wait, what? I think it goes without saying that we had lost all trust and confidence in Lara. And we couldn't be sure that A) she actually did find the sheet music and B) she had enough time to arrange and practice so that the song was played professionally. So we reiterated that our decision to cancel was final. She continued to pressure us to pay the balance and couldn't understand why we decided to cancel and said that our deposit was non-refundable so it didn't make sense for us to cancel. Well it was the easiest decision we've had to make throughout the wedding planning process. read more

My sister-in-law is a professional opera singer, and they collaborated on a piece for us as we walked down the aisle. Given that they are based out of the Bay Area and she is in Germany, it all came together thanks to their hard work and collaborative spirit. Lara and Samsun brought pure magic to our wedding ceremony in the botanical garden with their harp and cello duo. Their playing was gorgeous; it brought so much spirit and warmth to the entire ceremony and my and my husband's memories of it. So many people told us how special the music was and how cool it was to see their big beautiful instruments --- the cello and especially the harp which is such a rare treat to see in the wild --- everyone loved it. One of my biggest regrets of my wedding is that I didn't get to meet Lara and Samsun personally given the whirlwind of activity, but I was so aware of and grateful for their beautiful music all throughout the afternoon; it relaxed us while we were taking photos and preparing to begin the ceremony; it was truly a dream-come-true during our procession, and it set the festive tone before and after the ceremony; elevating the entire experience even more than we anticipated when we hired them. Their perfect rendition of The Swan for my procession will always be with us. Lara was so professional and easy to work with - always quick to respond; helpful in discussions of music selections prior to the wedding (she was even very knowledgeable about Jewish music selections and had some great ideas that helped make our selections very personal to our event); and she was straightforward with the logistics - the whole experience was as smooth and straightforward as could be. This is an overdue review. My husband and I hired Amethyst Trio for our wedding in Sept. 2015 at Cinnabar Hills. I loved the trio of harp, cello and violin. I booked them about 9 months in advance and communicated with Lara via email throughout the process. I knew the type of music I wanted and their website with music sample was great help during my selection process. Lara does offer a lot of guidance and samples if you needed it. I hired them for 2 hours and in addition they would come 30 mins in advance for setup. They require a shaded area for outdoor ceremony to protect their instruments from harsh sunlight which is totally understandable and my venue had a great area against the clubhouse in the fall time of year when the sun about to set. On the day of the wedding, they arrived on time, and unfortunately I was so preoccupied that day that I didn't have a chance to greet them or speak to them. They were so professional tho and everything happened as planned. They played prior to the ceremony, during the ceremony and during a portion of our cocktail before our DJ took over. My husband and I got married this past June 1. 2018 on the 4th floor balcony at the San Francisco City Hall and it was so beautiful. We looked through an approved list of all these talented musicians we could chose to have play at our ceremony (you can't have amplified music) so we talked with Lara Garner and she sent us a link to listen to all these songs herself and other musicians could play on the harp, cello, violin, ect.., they are very talented. We chose the "twilight" song from when Bella married Edward and had Lara play her beautiful harp and another musician play the cello and omg it was the most beautiful music ever!! I cried every time I would listen to it even before the wedding. We let her and her fellow musician come up with the songs to play at our one hour ceremony after we told her songs we liked from Journey, styxx, John legend and a few other artist and the one question from all of our guest was....where did you find those musicians?? Everyone was telling us how the music they played was the best and nothing like they've heard before!! They were awesome and very reasonably priced. Let me tell you, the list was not that short, and then I had to listen to how each of them played. I was being so picky. But, I stumbled upon Amethyst Trio and immediately emailed them. I listened to some of the samples on the site, and the music was so beautiful. On the wedding day, I could hear the music playing throughout the whole City Hall as I was taking my wedding photos. We hired Amethyst Trio on February 23, 2018 at the San Francisco City Hall, and had Lara as a Harpist and Alina as the Violinist. O-M-G, the songs I chose were so beautiful. I could almost cry. Lara was so patient with me while choosing songs, and she gave me suggestions. I also chose songs that weren't on the list, and I wasn't sure what to expect because I like to know everything beforehand. But, I trusted them and their expertise. I chose "Perfect" by Ed Sheeran to play while I was walking. Omg...it was soooo beautiful! I felt like I was walking on air. Every note was played beautifully.
